  1. Congratulations! I ran my first (and possibly last) London marathon this year. It's a fantastic experience. My advice would be to incorporate a little strength training (Google 'strength training for runners') if you can and build up your mileage slowly. Getting through the training without injury is half the challenge and both the aforementioned will help with that. Have fun!
  2. I was sitting outside Oddonos last night and there were lot's of people outside Jade's too. It's good on that little stretch, because the pavement is wide enough to accommodate outside seating. Add the new Italian to the parade and it will be quite buzzy. Shame about Moxon's stinking it up tho ;-)

Agree, the northern line extension is ridiculous. The idea that developers subsidise these transport projects is interesting. It seems to me that it's the other way round (public finances subsidising private developments).
  5. The changes on Bellenden Road have over the last 12 months have been pretty good too (not to mention forest Hill, Honor Oak, Brockley etc). Feels like SE London generally is really changing.
  6. Didn't know about Burro e Salvia - sounds great. Shame about Hope & Greenwood turning into a poncey pooch emporium.
  7. ... sorry, that was very negative. I just suspect that if there isn't a private developer getting a huge public subsidy then Boris is likely to think the whole thing pointless - i.e. it's The Old Kent Road Quater.
  8. You watched it for an hour and didn't call the police?
  9. So Southwark runs a tight ship and Lewisham a shight tip?

  11. I will complete it, but suspect that it's a fait accompli for Old Kent Road and another 'exciting new quater*' for London *1 and 2 bedroom flats, as expensive as they are souless, marketed exclusively to overseas investors
  12. Definitely get back onto the Police. They are obligated to investigate. If they try to fob you off, ask to be passed higher up the chain and failing that, speak with your local councillor.

  14. One final push needed for it to reach 1000
  15. Boris certainly does like to spend transport budget on vanity projects - routemaster - Thames dangleway anyone?
  16. Which user name?
  17. I had a car come shooting out of a side road today, without slowing down, or looking. Nearly knocked me off my bike. Crazy.
  18. I got a call from my wife shortly after I'd left work, to say that she'd locked herself out of the house! So I ended up cycling home, letting her in and then got the train back into town. Actually didn't take too long and meant that I didn't have to worry about my bike being nicked. Next time I will plan ahead a bit better (and hopefully so will my wife).
  19. You would think that some engineers out there would have come up with something a bit smarter to slow vehicles than a bump. I mean it's not a very sophisticated response is it?
  20. We spend a fortune resurfacing the roads to ensure that they are flat and smooth and then the same again putting bumps back in. I'm pretty sure (although admittedly, I can't evidence it) that speeding is just displaced by humps. You so often see van drivers (not sure why it's always van drivers, but anyway), leaving a 'bump zone' and really putting their foot down, which I'm sure is at least in part born out of the frustration bumps invoke.
  21. Currently at 953, just one small push to tip it over the 1000 mark.
  22. Problem is Foxy, I'm already at work and have the bike with me. Didn't cross my mind this morning. Just laid my hands on a cable, so will have a chain (HipLok), a D-lock and a cable (which I can use in conjunction with the D, to lock the saddle). I'm thinking I may just risk it. ...also just realised that I don't have any lights with me! Really haven't didn't think this through.
