  1. I wanted to share that my daughter joined Dulwich Youth Choir a few weeks ago and is really enjoying it. The director, Owen Elsey, is very experienced and a lovely guy. It's quite small at the moment but Owen is keen to build numbers, it's on Tuesday evenings at St Barnabas Church and is free of charge. There's no audition. More info here https://www.stbarnabasdulwich.org/dyc/ Email Owen: [email protected]
  2. Big thumbs up for Holiday Champs - it's the holiday club that my 7yo consistently chooses to go to (despite trying others).
  3. My kids have been back to holiday champs this week after attending over the summer, and they totally love it. Aaron is a lovely guy and has a massive list of games to keep everyone busy. There are spaces available on Thursday and Friday this week if your kids fancy a change. It's also great value: DAY PASS - 09:00 - 15:30 - ?25 DAY PASS WITH EARLY DROP OFF - 08:00 - 15:30 - ?30 DAY PASS WITH LATE COLLECTION - 09:00 - 17:30 - ?35 DAY PASS WITH EARLY DROP OFF AND LATE COLLECTION - 08:00 - 17:30 - ?40 Email Megan on [email protected]
  4. I?ve been going to this class for 2 years now. Kate is a wonderful yoga teacher (I?m quite picky), but I also love her class for her playlist, the beautiful wooden room at the goose green centre and the other people who come to get class - it?s a lovely vibe
  5. Delighted with our tree from Nigel aka GardenMan. 8ft tree for ?60 and free delivery. Call him +44 7759 862191
  6. Thanks, this is useful info. I?ll let him know and update this thread if he sorts it out
  7. Hi Saturn 5 He doesn?t unfortunately, but I could lend mine
  8. So far, Victor has decorated a room, cut back trees, mended our step and tiled our hallway. He?s a lovely guy and a hard worker. You might have already seen Victor looking for decorating work around Peckham Rye station over the summer. He lost his home in June and is finding it hard to get jobs with no fixed address. Don?t let this put you off, he does a great job and you could be part of his journey back into ?normal? life again. You can call him on ‭+44 7366 268339‬ or me (Sophie) on 07971 628590. Happy to show you his work in our home.
  9. Jangalee Gardens (Aka Nahuel and Laura) did a fab job clearing our overgrown garden. They worked seriously hard and are lovely people to have around ‭07411 090609‬
  10. Also recommend Barney Rubble - good price too. ‭+44 7541 132087‬
  11. It's my son's last day at Bellenden School nursery today and I just wanted to recommend it to others. The timings won't work for everyone as it's school hours and term-time only, but the nursery takes children from the day of their 3rd birthday using the 15 or 30 hours free childcare. It's a brand new building and the staff are lovely. My son has spent lots of time with the reception children 'getting ready for school'. http://bellenden.southwark.sch.uk/
  12. Join us for a new term this Thursday at 8pm, Ivydale School https://nunheadchoir.wordpress.com/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/nunheadchoir/?ref=group_header No auditions, just people who love to sing. Come along and see what you think (and maybe join us at the pub afterwards to see what a friendly bunch we really are)
  13. Adam - thanks for the great job you did DJing at my 40th (especially at such short notice!). Everyone loved the tunes.
  14. Jeremy, we ended up hiring the Southwark Bowls Club and it was great. A lovely laid back vibe, cheap bar, loud PA and open til 2am. Thanks for the tip.
  15. we're having a party at the fabulous Southwark Bowls club next Saturday 21st and need someone to man the mp3 decks so that our friends can play 3 tunes each. It's a pretty easy gig and should be really fun. PM me if you're up for it or want to know more!
  16. Can anyone recommend someone to mend our gas fire please?
  17. Thanks Tiddles and PollyG - sounds like I'm going to have to do some serious taste testing. It's a tough job but someone's got to do it.
  18. Hi Polly Do you mind if I ask which Street Food van you chose in the end please? Looking for something similar this January
  19. Thanks all. Totally fair enough about the time limits in resi areas. We live opposite a pub (not one we can hire unfortunately). In case anyone else is interested in hiring somewhere on a Saturday night: - EDT: room hire til midnight (downstairs open til 1) - White Horse: no booking the whole back room or bringing your own DJ - Four Quarters: rooms can be hired til 1 but max 70 people - The Gowlett: min ?5k behind the bar to hire out on a Sat night - Prince Regent: room hire til midnight only - Montpellier: room hire til 1 (if no cinema) but no bringing a DJ Anyone used the Dulwich Constitutional Club before? It could be a go-er!
  20. I'm trying to find a venue to hold a 40th birthday party for 80-100 people but am struggling to find somewhere where our DJ can play til 1am. Any ideas please? The Ivyhouse is booked until April unfortunately.
  21. Hi Otta - I'm interested in buying your cocoon if bjh doesn't want it!
  22. I have been meaning to post something on here for ages to say that I joined a Choir shortly after having my daughter last year and it was such huge support to me. It was great to have an hour and a half each week where nobody was talking about babies and I could concentrate on something completely different. I could practise whilst changing nappies etc and the occasional concert provided an opportunity to get a bit nervous/excited. If you are a new mum and have someone who can babysit, I would really recommend joining a choir (or something something similar!). The one I joined was the Nunhead Community choir. If you're interested in joining then we're doing mainly Christmas songs for the next few weeks I think. Details here: http://nunheadchoir.wordpress.com/
