  1. If you don't need full days, then Halfmoon Montessori is fantastic. It is school hours and term time only, though.
  2. I find the choice of Michael Jackson a bit disturbing, but obviously my son is oblivious to the connotations...
  3. No. My kids will be going as Michael Jackson, a minion and a princess. It's very variable. The best costume we saw last year was a jellyfish.
  4. Kinnerton are great for nut-free products and easy to find at poundland and supermarkets. Most gummy sweets are nut-free and wheat-free. Sainsbury's stocks a nut free tray-bake, but I can't remember the brand. The Fabulous baking boys do muffins, flapjacks, cupcakes etc that are nut-free. It's actually pretty easy locally, and I would leave stuff packaged to prevent cross contamination too.
  5. No. Definitely not. You should always put the schools in the actual order of preference as you will be given the highest preference that you are eligible for a place at.. If you put a further away school first, and don't get it, you still stand exactly the same chance of getting the place at the closer school as you would have done had you put it first. If you are having trouble with the Byzantine application process, your council should run surgeries and also have preference advisors who can help you work through it all.
  6. I've been trying to remember the combination we ended up with, and I'm pretty sure it was domperidone, ranitidine and omeperazole by the time we got our third child's symptoms under control. My second only ever had ranitidine... The goon news is they both out-grew the reflux by about 18 months. She was seen at Kings and St Thomas' (because of respiratory complications). Both hospitals were fantastic, and I'd be happy to recommend both. Giving up bf and going on a special formula was the best thing I did for my third child's reflux, although it was psychologically a hard thing to do and I didn't completely stop bf... However the anti-refund formula helped her sleep for hours at a time at night and was a godsend for sharing night time feeding.
  7. It starts at 9:30, and it is on most weekends. However, do check the website because it is not always on if there is another event in the park.
  8. Some childcare assistants at term-time only nurseries that operate to school hours also do pick-ups around where I live. You could try that. Or local sixth-form students.
  9. But aren't Tweak and Dashi girls, and Peso and Shellington boys? Surely that does not equate to boys getting to do the cool stuff? Peso is really timid and Tweak builds all the cool machines. I agree about the others, but I find Octonauts ok really.
  10. I think you can get it at the GP for younger children, just not at school.
  11. I think it's always a good idea to get vaccinated if you are in an environment like a school, especially if it's a live virus vaccine. There are people who can't have live vaccines (immunosuppressed for example) and they rely on not being exposed to the disease in the first place. But then, one of my children is in a high risk category for 'flu so that dies bias my view a bit on this vaccine.
  12. I used capri (or 3/4 length) trousers for age 2-3 at this stage with my son. They are mostly for girls, nominally, but who can tell with denim? Or Mothercare trousers which I found were huge!
  13. Have you contacted the Litte Disco Company?
  14. My son really likes the dinosaur cove books too, and we've just moved on to the How to Train Your Dragon books. Also the old favourites like Roald Dahl...
  15. Also it us worth noting that limiting daytime drinks can actually contribute to night-time bed wetting. The bladder needs to be trained to hold a larger volume in some children, so drinking lots by day can actually help. Definitely see your GP or HV, especially if your child has been dry at night and then returned to bed wetting. But as goldilocks said, it is very common not to be dry at night by 5, particularly for boys or if there is a family history.
  16. My children (2, 4 and 6) have this one http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8325282.htm and are pretty reliable on identifying dark/light laundry into the correct basket. The baskets detach to carry downstairs too. The downside is that it is ugly.
  17. It's also worth noting that Southwark is only just over the threshold to be classed as at risk. If you lived down the road in Croydon or Bromley (I think) then it wouldn't even be offered. Many of my not-so-local mum friends didn't even have the option of an infant BCG, but that was between 6 and 2 years ago so it could have changed. As other people have said, unless you are in an at risk demographic, then you probably don't even need the vaccine. I can also reassure you that you will be chased to have it done before the baby is 1. Southwark is very good at making sure people are invited for their vaccinations.
  18. The main point is to cut through the straps if you think it is now unsafe. That would stop anyone salvaging it and trying to use it again. I think that is why you are advised to break it up.
  19. Lucy Sparkles does amazing parties, including Superhero themes http://www.lucysparkles.com We booked a soft play for my daughter's 3rd birthday and asked the guests to come as superheroes. That worked really well too.
  20. It has moved a few doors up to a blue-fronted shop. Still as helpful as ever :) Also, search on YouTube for a channel called How to Cook That. They have a great Elsa tutorial.
  21. I also have a Touran and got used to driving it around and parking very quickly. But I can't imagine needing all the space without a 3rd/4th child in there. I'd quite like to be able to get away with a smaller car a lot of the time.
  22. Another happy customer of the Spin Doctor here. He has fixed our washing machine and dishwasher over the years.
  23. I'm having a bit of a last minute panic about taking one of our car seats on a flight today. I was totally fine about checking it in until this morning and now I'm convinced it will get damaged! Does anyone have a car seat transport box or bag, or the box a seat came in that we can buy or borrow today? The seat is a large ERF seat (axkid minikid). I can collect it before 1pm today, Sunday 9th August. Thanks!
