  1. Hi all Just wondering if anywhere in ED stocks Holle infant formula 1? I need to get hold of some ASAP and have only found online stockists so far on google. Thanks!
  2. Stresshead. That fits the description of the guy who I saw early on the morning of the 18th shouting by Locale and generally being aggressive. While I agree with much of the sentiment on the thread re: helping vulnerable people, the primary concern for anyone should be themselves and their family. Pushing women and shouting on a bus is a problem and we need to get this person off the streets pronto for our and their safety. Suggest next citing we ring 999 and get the coppers out.
  3. I want to revamp our kitchen without needing to actually buy an entire new kitchen. I've been looking at companies who sell replacement doors to measure and was wondering if anyone has any experience of this sort of thing? Do the results look good? Are there any companies that anyone would recommend? Thanks!
  4. As a dog owner who walks in Peckham Rye on a daily basis, I don't think it is unreasonable to ask people to keep their dogs on leash in certain areas but equally, I think the park would benefit from some clearly defined areas where there is an understanding that dogs can run free and where I'm not going to get shouted at if my pup comes up to say hello. I have a 14 month hyperactive but loveable cockerpoo who has a knack for jumping in puddles and then going to greet strangers who often encourage him to jump up (something we obviously don't encourage. Both my husband and I try our best to avoid any areas where he's likely to cause trouble and stay clear of the duck pond and the gardens etc. Since he's young my dog is still learning how to behave. In order to do this though, he needs a place to run a play and wear himself out. It can be difficult to predict where people are in the park. Most dog owners let their dogs run and play on the big area to the right of the park (opposite the Harris Boys Academy) as it's fenced off from the busy road and large enough for the dogs to have a good run. It seems that there is an understanding that this area is the doggy area but then someone sets up a picnic in the middle of this area and I turn into the crazy lady running across the field shouting after my dog who's made a b-line for the scotch eggs! I can recount a story from when my dog was only about 7 months old when someone left the gate to the picnic area open. Our pup quickly dropped his ball and ran through the gate launching himself into the direction of a beautifully made birthday cake. Luckily I was fast enough to catch him before he landed smack in the middle of the cake but was then faced with a barrage of abuse. Seriously people. If you leave the gate open...
  5. I'm so sorry to hear of this incident. I can't imagine how frightening it must have been for you Strawbs. As a dog owner and Oakhurst Grove resident, I seem to find myself walking up and down the road on a frequent basis. There are a lot of people doing work on their properties at the moment and I have noticed a lot of front doors left wide open on more than one occasion. It might be worth us all being a little bit more vigilant and asking the work men to be on their guard too (or even just to shut the doors behind them). It must be all too tempting for thieves to walk in and try their luck. I have also noticed front doors left open at properties who don't have builders in. As I'm generally on my own, I'm often too scared to check (in case a burglar jumps out at me)but have asked passing post officers to check if anyone is in or if it's actually a break in in the past(I would want someone to check if it was my front door). Anyways - hope I don't come across as a nosey parker - it's just something I have noticed quite often and it always worries me!
  6. I'm a master student at Trinity Laban and am currently writing a market research report about popular and classical music audiences and marketing. Just wondering if people aged between 26-45 would mind listing websites (music, events, festivals but NOT CLASSICAL MUSIC) that they feel have strong images? Many Thanks!
  7. The same thing happens on Oakhurst Grove... there are buildings numbered 1a, 1b 1 and then 2 Oakhurst Grove. It's a nightmare with the post!
  8. If I'm honest, I'm not too bothered about the new recycling system - I quite like that the smelly food is now separated from the rubbish (it makes taking the bins out a little less daunting). But what I don't understand is why the council haven't given our building more than 2 blue boxes to share (between 4 flats). I emailed them today to request one of the unsightly blue wheelie bins - I wonder if I'll get a response!
  9. I have to say I'm largely very happy with the new gym and feel very lucky to have such great facilities so close to my home. I also love the fact that I can use Brockwell Lido in my membership and find that I attend a class there most weeks. However - I would also agree that Dulwich gym itself is far too hot. Also I have found that the classes are far too over subscribed. It seems nearly impossible to sign up to a early morning Pilates class or a week night aerobics class. I've been trying for 3 weeks now and each time I look, they're all fully booked!
  10. I use the 37 bus all the time and seem to spend half of my life waiting for it. As mentioned by Zeban, the service after 9pm is particularly unreliable. I regularly have to wait up to 35 minutes for it to arrive in Clapham Common and as a girl on my own I don't always feel safe doing so when I'm on my own. It's a very useful bus route but would definetly be improved if there were more buses running on the service.
  11. I was very impressed with the gym at my first visit yesterday morning. It's lovely and spacious and extremely well equiped. I was a member of the Third Space in Soho for a couple of years before and I must say that the gym area in East Dulwich is much MUCH better and at ?70 a month cheaper for membership, it's totally worth joining! Very happy!
  12. I have been thinking about a similar idea for sometime as I have noticed that a lot of people in the area have fruit trees that they are unable to harvest properly. Each year I see so many apples rot on the floor and it seems like such a terrible waste... Especially when you think about the amount of cider that could be made (and perry in the case of pears). I would love to start some sort of ED co-op cider where everyone donates their apples to a central press and then dependant on how much cider we make, we could split it amongst all do donatees. We might have to get some sort of disclaimer though as scrumpee can be notoriously dangerous!
  13. Hi Barry, Just wondering what's going on with the 09.20 train to Victoria? It seems like it's been delayed by at least 8minutes every day for the last week! Thanks!
  14. Further to your comment MissDollyMixture, I too would be interested to learn if there is a Neighbourhood Watch scheme in the area. It's seems like such a scheme would be beneficial.
  15. Hi All, I've encountered this problem a couple of times with wage slips and packages. I called the Royal Mail to complain and they managed to discover who the post man was and have him repremanded. Apparently the lazy sod is breaking some sort of postmans law (it's a illegal not to deliver post correctly or something). It's well worth ringing the complaints line and quote the number on the slip that they leave. Since I complained, packages and general post has been delivered correctly (though it's probably been spat on and put down the old posty's pants in protest before it's made it into my letter box).
