  1. morning, did they go away in the end? hope all ok with you today.
  2. If you dont feel safe, dont open the door. Have you got a view of your front door? maybe you could look out as soon as it rings. Did you call out to ask who it was? It could be someone calling unexpectedly, but if you feel wary, keep safe. Could you ring a neighbour even? maybe they have had callers aswell, it may help to put your mind at rest. Hope your ok also.
  3. didnt get to meet you, but goodbye and good luck:))
  4. Great tips, thank you. It would be wise to be economical about what information you share and with whom, for instance, if your arranging a delivery in a shop, try not to volunteer information like 'i'll be out all day saturday', you never know who is listening.

  6. You dont sound like a bad mum to me, you sound considerate, thats a good thing to me. I have been in there with my daughters while they were having their hair cut. There isnt much floor space, but there are two chairs by the door, they would easily accomodate a buggy. I found the hairdressers in the shop to be very friendly, im sure they would be ok, if in doubt, give them a call. I reckon it would be ok, good luck.
  7. LOL, showing my age here....they took my face of cd player, the front was in the dash board, and they removed the rest of it out the car. I still call cd's LP's :)
  8. Hi, one of my daughters went to st saviours and st olaves at the elephant and castle (6th form) and i have to say, it was not a good time, the 6th form college, is poorly thought out, they have no seperate classroom and my daughter was constantly moving around the building. The college lumps two years together and i found them to be collectively, unsupportive in the young people gaining qualifications, which was reflected in the poor A Level results. My daughter did herself aquire 2. She has recently started at Orpington College to take 4 different A Levels, and straight away the difference is clear. Proper time tables, clear and concise descriptions of all the work and criteria to be covered during the year. A dedicated website with online tests, so the teachers can stay aware of the students learning. Its very easy to get to, train from peckham rye goes straight there in the morning or train to bromley south, train to orpington, then bus or 10 min walk down the hill. I am very impressed with the standard at Orpington, my other daughter is at Welbeck College in Loughbourgh, that is excellent, but not near and is a boarding college for those who want a career in the Army.
  9. There are a couple of Jays that frequent the gardens at the back of Fenwick rd, also it seems to be a regular flight path for the parakettes. During the warmer weather, we had swallows or swifts flying round and round all day, it was lovely. Its a real spot for all sorts of birds here.
  10. I didnt see anything, but thats awful, right near where i live. I hope the lady is ok and they catch whoever did it.
  11. Have a little check around to see if some food might have been dropped some where and if so, are there any small brown oval egg shaped cocoons? If they keep appearing even after you have sprayed them, it means they are hatching out from some where, even the bin is a possibility. Keep spraying them, they will go eventually, you dont have to fork out ?200. Be brave, it will be worth it to save the call out fee :)
  12. Im so happy its open again, im starting back there this week for my early morning swim. Im a bit apprehensive as to how small the gym is now, and when it will open up again?
  13. I think the council are very unfair with tickets, I parked at the Elephant & Castle, just outside the mini cab place near the Bridge. Granted there were double yellow lines, but I went in the road turned around, pulled up by the hoarding, where they are demolishing a block of flats. I was stationary for approx 15 secs, to enable my daughter to climb in. I never left my car or switched the engine off and it was past 8pm at night, and empty. I had to pay the fine as apparently it is a no loading area, and my daughter getting in the car constituted loading !
  14. My car got broken into on the corner of nutbrook street and waghorn street. It looked like a proffessional job, something had been inserted into the car and the lock forced up, i thought id leaft it unlocked. They took my radio cassette as i had left the front off piece in the dashboard, all my cd's and all of my car cleaning stuff in the boot...a great big bag of it. I also had a ?5 voucher for morrisons which had taken me ages to get from petrol, that was in the dashboard and they took it aswell :(
  15. I have had at least 5 home calls from talk talk, and they are very aggressive too. One day there was two ladies and a man, they told me it was a follow up call from an earlier visit. The lady asked me how much i paid for my bills each month for BT, I said it was none of her business and she got very stroppy. I told the three to go away and not call again, those three havent, but other talk talk reps have. I have an outside intercom as there are 6 flats in my small block, they managed to get inside and were knocking on the letterbox. I find them very irritating and if they kncoked on a vulnerable persons door, i think they may overwhelm them with their agressive sales pitch.
  16. I cut through from St Francis Rd a couple of days ago and was presented with a large brown rat at the top of the stairs, just past the car cleaning men. It wasn't bothered by me in the slightest and just carried on crawling about the car parked there. There is a lot of junk dumped at the end of the car park, that would be a possible bed for rats.
