  1. There is a Heron that flys all over London, I have seen it (assuming it's the same one) at Crystal Palace Park and also Ruskin Park.
  2. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,545457
  3. I think you should let the police know what happened and the description, as i read on here that in the last couple of weeks there have indeed been burglaries in Ondine and also Muschamp Road.
  4. The cycle path in Rye Lane is, in my opinion, poorly designed. It may have looked very lovely on the drawings, but i do not think anyone actually thought about the practicalities of it. The circles depicting a cyclist on a bike and placed at quite long intervals, have faded, I dont find them easy to distinguish from the actual paving stone any more. when it's wet it is almost impossible to tell the different colours of stone from each other, and the cycle lane becomes very slippery. I witnessed a near assault from a very irrate pedsetrian when someone on a bike dinged their bell, the pedestrian was not interested in any explanation of it being a cycle route. It's very clear to see that a very large propotion of pedestrians do not realise or even care that the small strip is for cyclists to use. I'm not sure that a different colour would make any difference, but it cant be any worse than what happens at present.
  5. I complained to the sorting office about the postman not waiting to gain entry to our block, and then posting the letters back in the postbox outside, rather than take them back to the office. I was told this was standard practice, but worse, I had problems with my post for weeks after as I had made a complaint. It came to a head when I was running for charity and needed my race number, which the company assured had been sent out, the post man left a card saying it wouldnt go through the letter box and so he had taken it back to the office. This was on a saturday, the race was the next day and he said i couldnt collect it till monday. The parcel which apparently would not go through the box, was 6ins x 8ins, a few mm thick and completely bendable. I had to get a friend of mine who worked for Royal Mail to go in and speak to them and apologise on my behalf for the complaint, before my post returned to normal. They also retrieved the parcel for me so I could run the next day. I learnt a hard lesson with Royal Mail, in that they mess you up post wise if you dare to complain and leave your address. If i need to voice a concern again, I will do, albeit anonymously.
  6. Pricing the stuff too high is ok if people pay for it, but what most people dont know is that, if it doesnt get sold, it gets binned. Most charity shops have a shelf life for the stuff they sell. So stuff that is priced too high, yet would have been sold had it been cheaper, ends up in the bin....not really a win win situation. I cant dictate what happens to the stuff once i donate it, but i can choose who i donate it too. Mine goes to St Christopher, reasonably priced-more sold-less binned.
  7. ps. there is a water thermometer tied to the rail, by the stairs out at the deep end and I looked at it and it showed the pool temp at being 29 degrees.
  8. I just paid my first visit to the newly opened pool, I was taken aback by how lovely and modern it looks, I used to swim at school lessons there almost 40 years ago. It gets a complate thumbs up from me, they have a sign up, as previously mentioned, saying that they had listened to people saying it was cold and the temp has been increased to 29 degrees. The pool was fine when I got in it, and the pool is great, no more dirty broken tiles, all crisp and clean. The changing room was so welcome after the damp smelling one before. The time table isnt the greatest, but general swim I have only really found to be a problem in holiday times and after school. There does however seem to be too much time given over to swimming lessons after school, when children might like to swim, they will now have to wait until 6pm, or frid from 4-6 they have splash and floats. I think the most important thing is to voice any feedback you have and then they can have a look and see if its possible to make changes. I think its brilliant what they have done to the pool and a real asset for the area, im looking forward to the gym being re vamped now, wheras before I felt put out that it had shut for a redo. I feel the sign up there saying they are listening shows they are trying to please where possible.>:D<
  9. Its no wonder I feel life is flying by, as soon as the summer has past, we are propelled straight towards xmas, there is Halloween & Bonfire night before then, and more than likely other celebrations that i cant think off. I love xmas, but i feel it been over stretched, and in doing so, it feels like i lose a couple of months of other life !!
  10. A lady has just had her handbag stolen from her car right outside the church on the corner of waghorn street, (within the last half hour). She was putting her 3 small children in the car and a young black male walking past spotted her bag and grabbed it and ran. He ran off down Anstey rd towards the top of Rye Lane. One of her children was very shocked and crying, she said it contained all her keys, credit cards, purse etc. One lady walking past found the ladies car key discarded on the pavement.
  11. The brown bins have just arrived in Fenwick Rd, they are delivering as i type, maybe i shall come to love them just like bob....hmm they do seem strangely appealing :)
  12. sorry im getting confused now, i took this from the council website.... Food waste will be separated in the kitchen into provided biodegradable bags and then added to the secure garden waste (brown) recycling container. This will be collected weekly. I still think this would result in split bags over the garden waste, or am i missing something?
  13. oh ok, i thought you could put them in with your garden waste, my mistake.
  14. I was just thinking, if the bags are to go in with the garden waste, surely they will split, or at least some will. So you will end up with garden waste coated with food, and bins also. In the summer it will stink and be covered with flies.
  15. I hear that, however i personally think that such statements (about railway lines) can in some way, pass the responsibility elsewhere. Granted that wildlife use the rail lines, but why do they get off at Sainsbury's? I think that whoever owns that car park where the car wash is has some responsibilty aswell. The rats come because its attractive to them, otherwise they would carry on down the track to a more suitable place?
  16. Whats the train line got to do with it? are they commuting to Sainsburys :) The rubbish in the car park where the car wash is looks like a place that would attract them, also how wet and damp it is because of the water. They dont have to feed there to live there, they could use it as a place to sleep.....maybe they are commuting after all !!
  17. I thought you have to put the food in the bag and then it can go in the garden waste?
  18. I hope that we can be fitted with a lock on our cupboard as we seem to get everyones rubbish dumped in our bins. We have recycle bins at the back, my problem is that we get other peoples rubbish dumped on us, because they dont want to recycle. I even caught the Councils own bulk waste collector dumping cardboard and plastic bags in our shed, which had been collected from elsewhere and offloaded on us. I told him not to do it again, we are not allowed to put our own lock on and the Council wont put one on for us :(
  19. the pilot scheme for food waste is also being brought forward, the trial will run from oct til april 11
  20. If you goggle it you will find out all the details, thats what i did.
  21. Thats awful, I live in a small block and we have 6 bins which people come and dump their rubbish in, they are always full by the end of the week, if not before. Is there anyway we can object to this, or is it already decided?
  22. You could alway check with the local police, it may have been stolen from someone in a mugging, and thrown away because it was so identifiable?
