Phoebe's Success Story (Gokay Fitness Training, Personal Trainer)
malumbu replied to GokayFitness's topic in The Lounge
I'm the opposite and need to maintain weight as I burn it off to easily. I recommend eating for that and happy to give personal advice, eg go to the shops, cook food, put it on a plate, cut it up with a knife, put it in your mouth with a fork, chew, swallow. -
I went to school with someone called Alison Grove. Not sure if the road was named after her. I didn't go to school with anyone called Frank Dixon, I think he was in Brookside. Alison went to private school but joined us in scumbag 6th form when the money ran out, and was friends with Elaine Bird. Elaine had gone to ballet school, but was in my infants class. When we sang "little Bird, I have heard, that you sing so merrily" a the age of 5 or 6 I always substituted the words Elaine Bird. Imagine my surprise 10 years later to find out that Elaine was now rather large. My God what is this self indulgent twaddle. Anyway good discussion on local musicians, that I may or may not have contributed to, in another planet in a far away galaxy: https://www.se23.com/forum-archive/messages/9/425.html

We are! PCR results hopefully tomorrow (probably not the best Xmas present), two out of four unconfirmed on LFT as we have run out.... Not sure if this is a Lounge, ED or thread for here. We can form a remote Xmas club.

Does anywhere have lateral flow tests?
malumbu replied to tomszekeres's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Went looking for LFTs yesterday and thought I'd try the Bournemouth Road place. Found Bournemouth Road but not the location, am I stupid or is it poorly signed. Separately pleased school gate now has something to occupy the discussion beyond secondary schools. My that was tiresome.... -
There's a wider point Cat on 'price of produce' as successive governments probably from Thatch's day have championed reduced costs for goods due to neo-liberalism, deregulation, reduced labour costs home and abroad, intensive agriculture. We have been worshiping at the alter of unrestrained consumerism for decades, leading to environmental harm, over-indebtedness and perhaps increased criminality. Not really specific to Brexit, and one could argue that our leaders are in a better place to reverse this post Brexit. But even with a global plague they wont.

And a happy Christmas to you, too, Lindy.

Here's a nice dishy fella giving a tutorial about how to fix a leaky tap. The one here is a rubber traditional tap washer. Ceramic taps are a little simpler but needs a more specialist part - eg from the tap doctor. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=my+tap+is+dripping There is a general point about why we are becoming a less practical nation - not a specific go at you, but a Readers Digest DIY manual always comes in useful. https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=readers+digest+diy+manual+2020&i=stripbooks&adgrpid=100892319021&gclid=Cj0KCQiA2ZCOBhDiARIsAMRfv9JOzemvazKTariINtmDSNxENyoTsLuBI3iz_ayOymsKJtnELrSHBBYaAu-DEALw_wcB&hvadid=448031438305&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9045880&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=6011028487553365787&hvtargid=kwd-1210707735589&hydadcr=24458_1816148&tag=googhydr-21&ref=pd_sl_6on6a0o7k9_e_p50

Probably not good to get into the hang them and flog them conversation, or the more extreme Sharia law version/Old Testament (I expect other fundamental ideologies are also available. For every stolen item there is a buyer, and I expect most who buy knock off bikes are relatively law abiding people who decide not to question the source of a bargain. Bad karma both to the thieves and buyers. I've had three bikes stolen in London and one of my early threads here was on the last of them, as the thief kindly left a contact number on Gumtree. Best we can do is try to reduce the likelihood with locks, other physical means and alarms. It's frustrating that more isn't done to crack down on this, but such is life.

redpost Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > Why don't you do something positive and submit an FOI request instead of endlessly complaining on this forum? Actually a good suggestion Dear Southwark Council, under the FOI regulations will you please supply me all documentation on the following matters: Southwark Council being corrupt Southwark Council being incompetent Southwark Council being in the pockets of those living on the leafy streets and/or in gated communities.

You need to re-title the thread to some derogatory comment about cyclists, I thought looking at the title it may be something of use/interest, rather than a reason for many of you to go on about your prejudices. Good that some have brought in some balance. PS Shaggy and others, you cannot have a proper conversation if you resort to terms such as thick, morons etc. Although that could apply to some pedestrians of course......

Hmmm, I support the ULEZ and feel we should not be trying to get round it, but that said I wont be contacting TfL if I am not caught by a camera. I expect that any dodges will become common knowledge fairly quickly and be closed down/camera'd up. It is useful to know where cameras are though, should I be tempted to do a short journey. Generally I'll cycle or walk distances of up to a couple of miles, or use public transport. Uber would be preferable if I am in a hurry to ?12.50. I'll see how I feel in 12 months time but in no rush to buy a ULEZ complaint vehicle and as said in other forums maybe it will be Zipcar next.

Squirrels have learned to chew through the mesh to get into the squirrel proof feeders, clever blighters, have the water pistol armed for them and the green squwaky things

I've met her - virtually - at an on line symposium. She came across as genuine and well informed. I am a scientist but not the same level of expertise as her, although I expect that I know more about emissions and pollution/carbon emissions than most on this forum. There was a question about the general response on LTNs and the reaction - being on Twitter she had obviously been trolled. Do read and find out more about her.

Is TJ a walk in and if so what times. I assume they must be doing Moderna, as they were giving Pfizer, certainly earlier on, when people were having first and second jabs

Depends what it is worth to the scrap dealer and the value of the tyres. I scrapped a car in the years when they would simply take it away for free. I stripped quite a lot of stuff from it.

I'm still waiting......

I've seen numerous cameras on the boundary roads on the South and North Circulars. If you drive into the CC zone they will no doubt pick you up and charge you for both. How do people know which camera they have gone through? I didn't think TfL gave you that level of detail. We bought a small tree from Lidl a few years ago, it slowly gets bigger in the garden and comes back in, in December. Got fed up on the waste of buying new ones each year and the same old story from those selling them about the great Xmas tree shortage.

Privatisation has been on the agenda since Milburn's day when Health Secretary for Labour - and he will still argue for it now. On this occasion I don't think you can level this directly at Johnson.

What was the outcome Rocks? Sidhue - fortunately most road users can share space and are courteous. My experience is generally, but not always, the aggressor is the driver. I've also experienced some bike on bike aggro.... Monkey - cheers, the recent incident was just bizarre/odd, in full view a driver nudged me at low speed. If it was to teach me some sort of lesson it would have made some sense. But not sure why he did it. I've had far worse, being left for dead in a hit and run in 97 on Red Post Hill (in those days the police would come round to your house after reporting such an incident), and knocked off by a hire box van a few years before in Kirkdale, who drove too close. I don't want to be in a world where we go round with dsshboard or helmet cameras.

Search gumtree and e-bay, inform the TFL/Met bike team (although I worry that they have been disbanded https://www.london.gov.uk/questions/2019/6245 ), Report on stolen bike website https://stolen-bikes.co.uk/ and if not done in future register your bikes https://www.bikeregister.com/stolen-bikes My sympathies, I've had bikes stolen over the years - last was up for sale on Gumtree the evening it was nicked and there was nothing I could do (I did call but they denied anything about the bike).

My squirrel proof feeders are being attacked, actually I expect by a mouse who has worked out that it can chew through the mesh to get at the pellets. Do I admire it or get annoyed by it, or both?!

I reported an incident on line, a driver for some reason bumped into me whilst I was cycling on a cycle lane across a junction. I took a photo, had a witness, but beyond the shock that a two tonne vehicle would bump into me in plain site, there was no harm. I could have fallen into the South Circ. The police took no action, not a surprise, but they did respond to me. If you are unhappy with their response then there is a complaint procedure. SNT and PCSO's have always responded with courtesy

Hartlepool was a wrong answer in a repeat of Pointless the other day. Apparently they were no longer in the league at that point. But I've checked, and they are back again following last season's play offs. I doubt if it is anything to do with politics. They of course used to be called Hartlepools, following a merger of two of the teams in the area (well one took on the assets of a failed club). A young Brian Clough was once their manager. And of course the area is famous for the monkey that was hung, which was thought to be a Frenchman.

Southwark Council's services
malumbu replied to Harmlessmischief's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
What are Lewisham enforcing? Always found them pants on some double yellow line parking. And going for the soft option eg daytime shoppers rather than night time revelers (ie when there is no enforcement). Have told them this, and repeated it through my MP.
