  1. Hi All, I play occasionally at Hamlets with some mates on a Friday night so might be good to combine resources, as they are unreliable :0) I just tried ringing the club but got no answer, and wondered if you have managed to book courts etc under new ownership? If you can get a court tonight myself and a mate will play. My number is 07970 707995 Andy H
  2. I am going to try Hoopers, they have two tv's so can appease northerners with Liverpool game if need be. They also have sound on, good beer and OK locals.
  3. The prices they charge for average fare, it would be nice little haul for the robber!
  4. Serif, I lived in Chiswick, Bedford Park......hardly ever heard any noise. Surprised the hell out of me when I moved here and got the 4-4:30am wake up call from the first plane of the day. Its much noisier here than most of Chiswick. Now if you had said Brentord.....I would have been there with you, I could wave to the passengers they were so low when I was there.
  5. Macroban, please clarify what are these "front line services" that will be of great importance when missed? Thanks
  6. As a newcomer (two years) to the "area" (Top end of Grove Lane) I was alarmed by the number of police cars andvans and screaming up and down Grove Lane. My partner explained that these cars come from ED, Peckham and Walworth Police Stations, as Camberwell is shut. I probably agree that having a Police Staion may not decrease crime, its down to policing policies and more of a zero tolerance to "petty" crime, showing a local interest in following up crimes, bobbies on the beat etc rather than online and telephone reporting. What I don't understand is that if ED nick closes, how are they intending to police the area? More cars screaming around? Virtual policing? There is enough opportunistic crime around here to warrant more robust policing. On the occasions when we have had a theft (3 times, 3 attempts and counting)on the more serious crime, burglary, the police did respond quickly with a number of officers. I guess my pint is, have the police consulted the area as to how they intend to police the area after ED closes and is this considered adequate? I would liek to see more Police presence day and night, foot, cyles and cars and a more interested response to all crimes!
  7. Well put spangles, Dulwich leisure centre and london fitnes network, over 80 gyms and 50 swimming pools costs me ?45 a month, I get to use gyms in town like The Gym, Covent Garden, Oasis (open air pool), Covent Garden and the Central YMCA, Tottenham Court Road as well as local Fusion run clubs, great value. If only Brockwell Lido was included! ;0)
  8. KirstyH, I also moved here recently, although from West London, Chiswick (bet not many peeps do that) and was very dispointed to hear noisy planes starting around 4:30ish in the morning, much noisier than the Acton side of Chiswick where I resided. It is variable, and down to winds etc although the O2 dome is a landmark for pilots on their way to Heathrow, so I guess we are stuck with it!!
