  1. My 8 year old is still really fussy. almost scared of new food. at school they have to have cooked lunches and he hardly eats anything - a bit of bread and cheese on some days. I really thought he would have grown out of it by now and I'm beginning to think he's not going too. The only thing that has improved is the way he deals with it - instead of having a tantrum about the new food he just says "no thank you"!!. My middle child isn't much better. I'd love some advice if anyone has been through the same through the same thing with an slightly older child!
  2. Thanks Jenny! My middle son had a terrible bottle habit - he'd still have one now aged 5 if he could (and does occasionally!) so I'm trying to avoid the same thing with child no 3. So she has a terrible dummy habit instead! You'd think I'd know how to parent 3rd time round!!!
  3. I know this isn't answering the question but I don't give my 2.5 year old a bottle at bedtime - she does have one in the morning though - am I being a terrible mum?!!
  4. Wonderful!! Thank you so much everyone - I really appreciate it.
  5. I wondered if I could get some advice on nursery/pre schools. My first two children went to a day nursery before starting school as I worked but I got made redundant and I'm now a stay at home mum. My third child is 2.5 and I'm wondering what options there are for nursery or pre school? I'm sure she'd benefit from a few hours a day a couple of days a week, especially as she's a September baby so she's going to be at home for a long time!! Any suggestions that don't cost a small fortune would be gratefully appreciated!
  6. Hello! My 5 year old is going to be postman pat (?!) in a school play next week and I can't seem to find a costume. Does anyone have anything that he could borrow in exchange for a bottle of wine?! Would be really grateful!
  7. I had Oakwood with my second and third and thought they were amazing. I wasn't with Forest hill road surgery with no 2 but managed to get on their list at around 6 or 7 months. I felt very well supported and looked after before the birth, and even more so afterwards. I did have home births but they weren't planed, it was just the way they worked out. Oakwood would have come to the hospital with me too. I couldn't rate them highly enough.
  8. Thank you everyone for your advice. We've just been to the docs who wasn't sure but asked me to keep an eye (ha!) on it, try and write down when he's doing it etc. I'm taking him to the opticians on Wednesday too Thanks again
  9. Thanks Otta. I don't think its anything to do with his sight - but quite hard to tell. He's never complained or shown signs of having trouble with it. He hasn't done it as much today, but its still going on. We'll go to the docs this week. Thanks again for replying!
  10. Hi all, My son, who will be 5 next week keeps rolling his eyes - they sort of go off to the side and it looks really disturbing. He says that if he doesn't do it then his eyes hurt. He's not doing it as much when he's concentrating, and he's only starting doing it today, but he's doing it all the time and its really worrying me. I'll take him to either the docs or the opticians this week but I just wondered if anyone has experienced this before? I'm getting myself into a complete panic about it! ps, I know I can't get a medical opinion from here, but looking for a bit of reassurance! thank you
  11. We used Musico to find a music teacher for my son. The lady was brilliant. Came and chatted to us to find out what we wanted from a teacher, what type of music etc and matched a teacher for us - who is perfect for my son. http://www.learnwithmusico.com
  12. I've been to quite a few parties (well, taken my children to!) run by Nutty's parties - http://www.nuttyschildrensparties.co.uk The children seem to absolutely love them. not sure how much they cost though!
  13. Does anyone know if its open this week? Thanks!
  14. And slightly cheaper for an adult swim than at dulwich pool!
  15. holiday drop off at dulwich college sports club - http://www.holidaydropoff.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=frontpage its the only one I know about - my boys love it!
  16. try looking into the sling library - http://southlondonslings.com/ the lady there is so so helpful. unfortunately they don't open until till jan. If you are stuck and don't want to rush into buying one, you are welcome to borrow my sling - Its for older babies/toddlers but I can't remember the make - I hardly ever use it and won't need it till march. let me know if you need it! its tough caring a little one around all the time
  17. Thank you again everyone. I've phoned seldoc and waiting for them to call back. She has just now, finally fallen asleep, but I think it will be a long night. Saffron thank you for your suggestions, I'll be trying them in the night! Thank you again. x
  18. thanks so much. Can't see any spots or ulcers on her hands or feet but she's beside herself. She normally goes to sleep with a dummy which she can't use as it hurts her mouth and she can't go to sleep. feel terrible for her.
  19. I just wondered if anyone else's little ones have been ill with some kind of mouth pain and temperature? my daughter has been miserable all day with a slight temperature and a very uncomfortable mouth. I can't see anything in there but its obviously really hurting as she's been crying on and off for a lot of the afternoon and she can't sleep. I'm not looking for medical advice as I know I'm not supposed to ask for that! but just wondered if anyone else has had it? Thanks
  20. I'm looking for someone to do a bit of daytime babysitting while my 2 year old sleeps, so it will only be for a couple of yours at a time, around lunch time. please let me know if you're interested!
  21. I think the nearest place is either snappy snaps on peckham high st, or there's also one in sydenham. 99% sure they do on the spot printing.
  22. Same as pickle in our house - It was fine when my eldest was 6 months so both my other two got it when they were really ill as we read up on it and found it was exactly the same drug. probably makes us terrible parents but they slept better and felt better and seem alright for it now!! Hope your son feels better really soon
  23. the card shop on north cross road (think its called postmark) use to sell them - no idea if they still do but worth a try
  24. I go to a couple of play groups which only cost ?2 - ?3. The first is at Chatsworch baptist church in west dulwich, chatsworth way, on a wednesday morning. Loads to do including painting etc. The other is called playpen (I think) in the church hall on gypsy hill on a Thursday morning. Both great groups and lots of the same people go so nice to see familiar faces!
