  1. Hi We have lived on Northcross Road for 15 years, just a few doors down from the Actress. I can't say that the pub tipping out at midnight is a particular problem - sure, there is a bit more footfall and the occasional noisy nutter but that is the exception rather than the rule in our experience. Razors has their own point of view about the market - but not everyone feels that way. Of course, we live at the other end of the road from the market so are not disturbed by the setting up of stalls. The road is closed on Saturday, just once a week, and this allows the market and shoppers a safe shopping session. If the things on sale there are not your scene, you don't have to shop there. Easy really. So, that hopefully offers a balanced view to the points raised by Razors. The downsides of living on such a great road - parking. If you don't have a car then you will have no problems. If you do have a car you will have problems parking near your house. Otherwise, it is a good place to live. The neighbours are friendly and it has a nice feeling, I would say - give it a go, you might like it :)) Good luck HElen
  2. Dear Gidget, the-e-dealer and maxxi I live over the road from Emily's and just mentioned your posts to the owner. He was delighted and said thank you very much for the feedback. (The fish is really good by the way :)) ) Helen

    ok in Northcross....
  5. James There has recently been a device/cable (not sure what the correct terminology is here, but stick with me!) stretched across Northcross Road, just along a little from the chip shop, that was allegdly put there to measure the speed of the traffic coming down our road but also with a view to introducing controlled parking here too. (that was according to the chap that removed the thing a couple of days ago). Is this true do you know? If not, can you shed some light on what they were collecting the information for please. Thank you
  6. I am a resident of Northcross Road and agree with most that these adverts are an eyesore
  7. Garlic tablets (the non smelly type) work for me -and they are good for you too!
  8. We have just got back from a relatively busy Hisar restaurant on Lordship Lane - we just wanted to say dinner was yummy (as always) and thank you to the staff for keeping the place open and feeding the good folk of ED! For info - Londis (end of Northcross Road) was just about to close, we just managed to get in in time to get a couple of ice creams for dessert! We thought it was important to support our local businesses while things are a bit tough out there - they didn't let us down.
  9. Hi edanna I think they said the road closure would be a 6 month trial not 18 months. They normally give trials 18 months but the results of this working or not would be evident after 6 months. Happy to be corrected but that is my memory of the discussion.... Helen
  10. Please please please - can we Northcross Road residents have one day of peace, where we have a slight chance of being able to park our cars somewhere remotely near where we live. A day where we are not having to jockey for pavement space whilst heading out to buy newspapers. I would be happy for more stalls on a Saturday if it meant some peace on Sundays. A compromise would be a once a month farmers market- that finishes at 1pm maybe........
