  1. I agree, we used Darren a while ago, he was ace!
  2. Hiya ellyblue Not sure what your budget is, we got married last September at the Old Finsbury Town Hall, up near Mount Pleasant Post Office - it was amazing. They have got a website that will give you more info - the photos don't really do it justice, it is much better in real life! Ziggy is the person to talk to - she is great.. I hope you find somewhere soon and that you enjoy your day as much as we did :-) Helen
  3. They are called the Strumbums by the way :-)
  4. Great live band on now right now, come down if you want to see great gig!
  5. There is one of these on the tree outsdie Emily's fish bar on Northcross road - I hope they are not chopping that one down too - it is a stunner :-(
  6. Hi Maria Yummy dinner this evening, thanks. I have PMd you Helen
  7. Well, that is strange. I had an email from the Clockhouse with an offer on dining with wine that runs through Jan until 21st Feb??? The link takes you to the Youngs website which then goes on to say that the Clockhouse is taking part in the promotion???? http://www.youngs.co.uk/dinewithwine-jan-2013.asp
  8. I second the recommendation for Victor - his team have done of couple of jobs for us in the past that we have been very happy with....
  9. I was a first time spray tanner and wanted a something for my wedding. I gave Kelly a call following the reviews and recommendations on here for her. We went through what I wanted and she came and did a test run last week. It was amazing, just a light touch which is what I wanted. I felt and looked really healthy and got lots of lovely comments from friends and colleagues. I have just had my second session and am really pleased with the results again. Highly recommended and I will use her again for sure! Thanks Kelly! Helen
  10. I have lived on NX for 15 years and it is worse than ever. We try not to use the car at the weekend as you never get anywhere near home again, well - until Sunday evening anyway! That said, the hassle is worth it, we love living here - the neighbours are ace and it is a happy place to be :-)
  11. Just walked down Northcross and able to report that there was chink of light under the blinds at Blue Mountain and I am delighted to say that evidence of a refurbishment is very very present - lots of ladders, tools etc etc. Can't wait to see the new place - lots of luck to Mel and the team. WE MISS YOU :-)
  12. wee quinne I am sorry to have doubted you. We just walked down our road to see what was going on. The writing is on the "window" - there is a clothes sale tomorrow and a number of other dates and then that will be it. The sign thanks people for 15 years of service and happy memories. When I moved to Northcross Road there was just Blue Mountain and Grace and Favour - this is a very sad day for local business. However, there was chink of light under the blinds at Blue Mountain and I am delighted to say that evidence of a refurbishment is very present - lots of ladders, tools etc etc. Can't wait to see the new place - lots of luck to Mel and the team. Helen
  13. wee quinnie Do you know that for sure? When I went past this morning there was brown paper at the window, when I went past this afternoon (I am almost sure) the new window setting was on display????? Helen
  14. Well Fox, actually one side of the pavement was done on Northcross Road - the other side sounds pretty much like the description of Upland Road, broken tarmac, uneven pavements etc etc
  15. Great post Chillaxed. Peter on Northcross Road does a fantastic job come rain, hail or shine!
  16. Hi James The newly resurfaced road looks great so far - but the pavements look worse than ever now!!!!Any plans for them too? Helen
  17. Welcome to the Forum Winter12345 I agree with rebeccaben... Helen
  18. Oh Karen - my deepest sympathies go to you and your family. I often passed the time of day with your dad over the years and had wondered about him and Jed having not seen them in such a long time. In fact, the last time I saw Jed you were walking him and we had a quick chat - that must be well over a year ago now. My thoughts are with you...Helen
  19. Hi We have lived on Northcross Road for 15 years, just a few doors down from the Actress. I can't say that the pub tipping out at midnight is a particular problem - sure, there is a bit more footfall and the occasional noisy nutter but that is the exception rather than the rule in our experience. Razors has their own point of view about the market - but not everyone feels that way. Of course, we live at the other end of the road from the market so are not disturbed by the setting up of stalls. The road is closed on Saturday, just once a week, and this allows the market and shoppers a safe shopping session. If the things on sale there are not your scene, you don't have to shop there. Easy really. So, that hopefully offers a balanced view to the points raised by Razors. The downsides of living on such a great road - parking. If you don't have a car then you will have no problems. If you do have a car you will have problems parking near your house. Otherwise, it is a good place to live. The neighbours are friendly and it has a nice feeling, I would say - give it a go, you might like it :)) Good luck HElen
  20. Dear Gidget, the-e-dealer and maxxi I live over the road from Emily's and just mentioned your posts to the owner. He was delighted and said thank you very much for the feedback. (The fish is really good by the way :)) ) Helen

    ok in Northcross....
  22. James There has recently been a device/cable (not sure what the correct terminology is here, but stick with me!) stretched across Northcross Road, just along a little from the chip shop, that was allegdly put there to measure the speed of the traffic coming down our road but also with a view to introducing controlled parking here too. (that was according to the chap that removed the thing a couple of days ago). Is this true do you know? If not, can you shed some light on what they were collecting the information for please. Thank you
  23. I am a resident of Northcross Road and agree with most that these adverts are an eyesore
  24. Garlic tablets (the non smelly type) work for me -and they are good for you too!
