How to describe the shock of the first 3 months...
lillyanginger replied to bee74's topic in The Family Room Discussion
It is really interesting to read this...My kids are that bit older (8 & 12) but I do remember SOOOO clearly how scary, boring and lonely it was, especially first time round. I am always surprised meeting other parents now how many other people felt like I did then...and how much it would have helped to have known that. I would be interested to be involved, I will keep reading. -
Very very funny!!!

It went so far in our house that the little one refused food unless it came from his brothers plate...just to be sure he was having the same kind of food. We decided not to worry too much. Honestly, he is now 8 and does not eat more sweets than his older brother. If anything, he eats less 'rubbish'. You (realistically) won't be able to keep most of these foods away from your younger child, so moderation on all levels seems to be the way forward.

20 Week Scan: Should we find out!?
lillyanginger replied to HOMum's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I kind of needed to know with the first one, the whole pregnancy 'thing' was difficult enough to deal with. Also it helped our arguments about names. Mr LG flatly refused to discuss names until he knew as not too argue about something that was purely academic. And I have to say it really helped me feeling closer to the bump knowing he was a he. I have a sister and the thought of having a boy kind of threw me (not in a bad way, more in a 'what do they do, boys' way). Second time round it was different. I wasn't worried about having either sex and thus did not really need to know. Somehow it was all so much more relaxed that it did not seem to matter that much. As long as the baby was healthy...it was a baby. (We did find out in the end though as Mr LG had the same arguments re names). Good luck with what ever you decide, it will be the right decision for you. -
Inspiration needed for Summer Holiday with kids...

Have a look at Austria. They have a whole chain of "kinderhotels', all meeting your requirements. They are not cheap but look really good. -
Something to think about, thank you very much!!!!

Hillsboro Road is NOT a 1 way street

Are we not talking about the Infant and Junior School here - reception to year 6? This is the school with an entrance in Hillsborough... -
Hillsboro Road is NOT a 1 way street
lillyanginger replied to knackered cow's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Sorry, totally forgot to say what I was going to say in the first place. No, Hillsborough is not a one way street and that is obviously for good reason. But what is wrong with parents trying to make it work for all involved by going in one way and going out another for half an hour a day? Anybody who has ever been in the unfortunate situation of having to go through this road at school time may think it is a good idea. Random parking, dropping off etc on both sides of the road are really dangerous and the traffic jam causes road rage with no extra help needed. Obviously...doing the vigilante thing is overstepping the mark on many levels...and I think you should be cross Knackered Cow, I would be. But most of these people take their children to school and go off to work, they don't like driving through this road any more than anybody else would. -

Very rarely does this forum make me cross. I find it most useful on many an occasion. BUT how dare you Burbage use such language talking about other people and their children. 'nauseating spawn' - what makes you say such appalling things about young children??? What is it that enrages you so much? -
Son 1 and son 2 are almost 4 years apart and we are all loving it. They are now almost 12 and 8, getting on very well (most of the time), there is no direct competition and child 1 was really keen to have a sibling when it happened. No jealousy ever! He was at nursery 3 days a week while i was at work and he was used to dealing with "small"kids so he just loved having "his own". So, for us the bigger gap really worked! Good luck with whatever you choose, I am sure you make it work...it will be fine.

Mr lillyanginger and I tried the new pizza place for a very quick lunch today - it was very good. Pizza thin and lovely, the pasta dish tasty. Good espresso, cake and water on the house...we will go again. Good luck to them. -
parking ticket on LL, ?120 ...

You have just made me smile...will probably refrain from parking on LL with the landmines coming... -
parking ticket on LL, ?120 ...
lillyanginger replied to lillyanginger's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Guys, I never disputed the guilt factor. I am ok about being caught (ish). But do you really think ?120 is ok to be fined for parking wrongly - and I would like to add I was NOT in anybodys way, sticking over edges or in a buslane. Is it inflation? Where is the money going? Clearly not in better local transport and extending our services. If that was the case, perhaps I would feel (ever so slightly) better. -

Yes, ?60 for immediate payment..but still... how come they can charge soooo much? -
I got a parking ticket on LL yesterday. Sadly, the ticket was issued correctly as I had parked illegaly. BUT...?120??? Hello??? I will pay my ?60 but really feel that this amount of money did not "fit the crime". Has either of you any idea where I can challenge why they charge such ridiculous money? As I said, I am not disputing that I have done wrong...but THAT wrong? Who sets these fees? I have not had a ticket for a while so I was seriously gutted about my own stupidity.
