I also teach from a young age, 4-5 is often not too early, though it does absolutely depend on the individual child and their family. Some children find reading music very easy, others find playing by ear is much easier, though they are usually keen to persevere to improve their sightreading. I teach recorder to diploma, piano to grade 8 and could also teach clarinet to grade 6. I've been teaching and living in the area for many years.

I also had the pleasure of Steve working in my garden today. He worked solidly for 5 hours, mowing, clearing those ubiquitous white wild flowers, pulling out and chopping up a tree which had substantial mould on it, and planting out some things I had bought in both front and back gardens. He was a delight, as he worked consistently, and conscientously, always asked questions when not sure, and did everything possible that he could have done in one day. I look forward to having him as my ongoing garden maintenance man.

I have had foxes in my garden since I moved here a LONG time ago. They dig holes, under fences, next garden walls, trees you name it. If you take action and fill in the holes, guess what! They dig them again. I'm resigned to it!

The Gate in Hammersmith is supposed to be fantastic. My cousin had his Golden wedding lunch there a few months ago. Apart rom that I love Food for Thought in Covent Garden

Well it seemed to have opened again today. I must admit I didn't assume it was anything to do with roadworks, but most likely an awful accident. BTW I have complained numerous times to the council about the atrocious timing of the lights at the OTHER end of ED Rd. When you turn right there, as you turn , traffic is already moving towards you. It is obvious to me that the time allotted to one change was mis-applied ,and appears to have been added to the other one as sometimes you have wait ages there to be able to turn right, and the times when you can turn, its only a couple of seconds before traffio from the right and left start moving, WHILE one is still executing a right turn. I have never seen such awful timing at any other junction in London.It also seems to that they are waiting for an awful accident to happen.

So far so good, we haven't been burgled in this house ( Oakhurst Grove) for many years since fitting a chubb 5 lever lock to the front door, and then making sure that it gets locked with that, both on exit and on entry. Back door has no access for the key from outside, only from inside. Maybe something to think about?
