  1. We recently had a soft play party at Beckenham spa which I know isn't the right location for you but we had fun! I wanted to share info on party bags. I bought some pre-filled ones from http://www.amyroseparties.co.uk They are very reasonably priced with good quality toys - no cheap plastic tat in sight! I topped up the bags with some extra fillers available on the site - focussing on good quality wooden toys. The bags went down a treat! Good luck with your party. X
  2. Our 20 month old also had chickenpox - got it 8 days ago. He has spots all over his face, chest, back, neck and scalp. We have been giving him oat baths twice a day - sock full of oats in the bath and squeezing the juice over his body. Then post bath, we have been covering his body with coconut oil to help the skin to heal and prevent scars. It has worked a treat, although he is over the worst there are plenty of scabbed over spots so we are still continuing the regime and he hasn't had any 'scratching like a dog with fleas' moments!
  3. The world of slings is very overwhelming when you start digging around. I found my feet with the help of Emily who runs the South London Sling Library (google it for contact info). You can hire slings to try before you take the plunge and buy. I really got on well with a babyhawk branded carrier and a woven wrap which is essentially a woven length of material. I tried many carriers - moby, tony, baby bjorn but the babyhawk and wrap were the most comfortable. Once you have practiced a bit you really get the hang of it and it makes wearing your baby a VERY comfortable experience. I liken it to being pregnant as you don't feel any pulling, etc. Baby feels a part of you!
  4. I want to buy a sling - something along the lines of a wrap sling so I have free use of both hands. I was taken with the moby wrap but thought it wouldn't be the comfiest of slings when the weather was warm - surely mummy and baby would swelter as the material is quite thick? Can anyone recommend baby slings suitable for warm weather please? Thanks!
  5. Does anyone know if Herne Hill and Bromley South stations have step free access? I'll be taking baby out in the (mountain) buggy and can only cope if there is step free access. Or - can anyone recommend another route? Thanks!
  6. Very interesting to read this post and they could be right as I noted the following, In a licensed taxi or licensed hire car, if a child restraint is not available then the child may travel unrestrained in the rear. This is the only exception for children under 3, and has been introduced for practical rather than safety reasons. You should always think about ways to make sure that a child seat is available. Sourced from this website: http://www.childcarseats.org.uk/law/ You could always contact ROSPA for confirmation of this rule. Good luck!
  7. Found them, please ignore Hello all I am would love to buy some stress or juggling balls for labour. Can anyone recommend any shops in/around Dulwich where I can purchase these today please? Ideally, I am after the multi-coloured soft filled juggling balls such as these ones - http://www.google.co.uk/m/search?site=images&source=mog&gl=uk&q=juggling%20balls#i=0 Would prefer to buy in person due to time ticking away unless anyone knows of online sellers that do next day delivery. Thanks!
  8. Hi there Maybe this link will help - http://www.pregnancy-info.net/breastfeeding_illness.html I remember this information was shared with my NCT run antenatal class. Could you perhaps get a telephone appointment with your gp if you can't get a face to face appointment to ensure all is okay before trying it out? Get well soon!
  9. I am expecting my first on 3rd March. Will also be keeping an eye on this thread for future meet ups!
