It could well be she was unaware of it. Just leering at someone without saying anything incredibly rude as well.

You could have just given her a hand.

Makes mental note to ram pretentious braying foody type in the ankle with bugaboo bee at next available opportunity. Perhaps Helen should stay in Peckham where the kids are better behaved.

This thread seems to have descended into the domain of trolls venting abuse on other social groups. The only hope is for someone to start a thread about cycling on the pavement or a Waitrose on LL.

be careful when Walking towards Honor oak park
henryb replied to Babaloo's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
What and making sure the cemetery is actually open to the public isn't part of the job of running a cemetery? Do you have copy of the response? I presume taking kick backs to turn a blind to people dumping toxic waste is on the job description though. -
Friern Road closure at Peckham Rye

Maybe you should start cycling to work. It was glorious this morning. -
What happened to the possible extension of the 63 bus?
henryb replied to Evie's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Regarding the 63 I would vote for Ken if it was on his manifesto. -

I agree with that. I regularly see cars travelling at what I would guess to be getting close to 50. Crossing the road is very dangerous as it is hard to predict how much distance you need. A young adult can run the gauntlet but if you have kids in toe it is very difficult. Love the bollards and substation they cheer up the area no end. More local art groups improving the area is very welcome.

Blocking two roads isn?t that more radical then blocking one. Plus it is actually solving the problem rather than shifting it. I would support anna_r's proposal but would be dead against just blocking Scutari by itself.

The Shelbury (or > Dovedale) & Mundania roads are not easy to drive > through due to parking on both sides and effective > narrowing of the roads. I take it you mean going from Colyton to Forest Hill. Why would someone turn onto Scutari? If Scutari/Mundania was blocked anyone could go left Shelbury/Dovedale then right onto Mundania then left onto Forest Hill just as they do with Scutari and Marmora. If you are going to propose something that will just shift the problem onto neighbouring streets then I wouldn't be surprised if people object.

The problem with this is it would just shift the problem onto Shelbury/Dovedale and the end of Mundania - certainly not welcome. To shut off the rat run you would have to block off all three.

You want to know why I would like a detailed description of people who go around violently attacking people close to my home? ?3 young men, 2 white/1 black? isn?t very specific.

Are there any more details on the description?

North cross road (the plan to extend the pitches)
henryb replied to cidered's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
No I am joking. :o) It seems people very close and effected by the noise and inconvenience are generally against, people a bit further away seem quite keen, especially if a farmers market is involved. There was a public consultation and it showed local residents were just about for it ? however the validity of the consultation has been questioned and there appears to be some political shenanigans involving East Street Market in the whole thing. Plenty more on this older thread. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,595531,page=1 -

Elderflowers are out. Picked a load last weekend for cordial (mixed success as over cooked it). Elderflower fiz next weekend I think.

It is a real tragedy ? I am sorry for your loss. You should definitely check with the police that the driver reported it as that is crime and they may investigate. I live near there and there are a lot of speeders around those streets. There are many children around playing and it is a real problem. Whilst the police are unwilling or unable to catch speeders on residential streets it is hard to know what to do without putting in more speed bumps. Personally I think the police should dish speed cameras to members of the public. Big society and all that.

The driver is supposed to report as well - otherwise they are breaking the law.

Footpath between Homestall Road and Brenchley Gardens.
henryb replied to henryb's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I guess the golf club would have be generous and community spirited enough to grant access to very short thin strip on the very edge of their golf course? -
Does anyone know if there has ever been any plans for a footpath from Homestall Road to Brenchley Gardens? It seems a bit strange there isn?t one as there is one the other end. It certainly would make walking to the Honor Oak Station a lot quickly for a fair number of people. I met someone who lived on Marmora Rd who there was a talk of it a few year ago but that was all she knew.

Exactly - that's why all this time spent trying to legislate against cyclists on pavement is so infuriating. Being startled by a cyclist, although annoying, just simply isn't as serious an issue as people getting being crushed under the wheels of lorries. That *is* a real major risk to both pedestrians and cyclists and kills many every year - yet no legislative time is being given to making lorries safer and that actually would save lives. It's madness.
-
Sounds like you were startled because you weren't expected it - a simple solution would be to start expecting that cyclists will cycle past you and that they won't hit you - which they wont. Cyclists are very motivated to not to hit pedestrians because it hurts if you fall off a bike.
