  1. That?s because trains never turn up when it snows. Couple of inches and ?Snowageddon!? and we have to ask the Germans for salt.
  2. Or get a coat. It is London, not the Artic. Or get a bike - Denmark Hill to London Bridge must be what? 15 mins?
  3. Have a tree full of cherry plums if anyone wants grab a bowl full before the parakeets eat them all.
  4. > I cannot back it up with a web survey, The data comes from the police who record every incident they are called to and have been for years. Things may appear to be dangerous but actually not be. What I notice is people driving very carefully around it.
  5. Only me! Are you saying your anecdotal evidence is a better indicator of safety than the years of data collected by the police and approved by the National Statistics Authority and reported on by the Department for Transport? I think the junction is good - it gets the balance right between the different road users. The multiple crossings force drivers to slow and concentrate on what they are doing and that is probably why its safety record is so good.
  6. Happens a lot on internet chat rooms unfortunately. I guess it is because there is no body language feed back to guide you. Misunderstandings and misreading of tone can quickly turn into personal attacks. Perfectly reasonable people turn into raving loonies. Not saying anyone here is a raving loony obviously!
  7. You should report it to the police.
  8. Yay get the Dulwich Ukelele Club to play - they're brilliant. Pub changes sound great - will have a look. Good luck.
  9. We've used Haart to sell in the past and were very happy, they marketed well and put on the right price to sell in the time we wanted. You could always get another agent to revalue. But if you are getting steady viewing then the price could be reasonable for the specification. Ultimately the correct price on any day is what someone is prepared to pay. The only options may be to be patient or drop the price. Could the presentation be improved? ? Clearing out clutter, putting old furniture in storage, lick of paint here and there ? can make a big difference.
  10. > ...Is the 'new' Burgess Park dodgy then? Was going > to pop along to the playground with the kids this > weekend. I've never thought so. It is average for the borough according the met crime map as is east dulwich.
  11. I changed from ELL to Jubilee at Canada Water this morning 830ish - no problem at all. Got on first Jubilee train eastbound and even got a seat! Better than it normally is.
  12. Whatever it is - it is omnipresent!
  13. Reducing traffic and the number of car journeys benefits everyone - including car commuters. If you drive around a European city with an extensive trams network you'll find it quite easy.
  14. I notice that. Most of the rush hour traffic around ED must be school runs.
  15. Rumour has it the Olympic Delivery Authority isn?t going to really enforce the no cycling in the Olympic lanes. Sounds like it should be ok to use them on a bicycle as long as you get out of the way of any Olympic traffic.
  16. You really think neighbouring councils aren't supporting tramlink because they don't want be associated with Croydon? Croydon it is not *that* bad.
  17. > The Edinburgh tram fiasco is a project management > problem rather than tram chosen as a mode of > transport option. Exactly. The Croydon Tramlink is a better comparison as it is in South London. I think that came in around 200m - 125m from the tax payer and it is more extensive than this project. It has been a huge success.
  18. People are increasingly traversing the park with their children on bikes for nursery/school runs as an alternative to going by car. If done carefully and with respect to other park users - then surely that must be a good thing. I just hope the park authorities are aware of that and take it into consideration when making these decisions.

I appreciate this is a sensitive and difficult matter with conflicting interests but I am sure everyone is motivated by wanting to keep these places special. Would you be able to post a link to the environmental impact assessment? I would be very interested to read it.
  20. I think the cost of any Bakerloo line extension would be about 4 billion pounds. It has been on the table since the 1940s and always rejected because of cost. It would be a dream though.
  21. I think it is great idea. If it got off the ground I think would be a fantastic success - as tram projects are in most cities. The sparks effect I think they call it. Large infrastructure public transport projects like this are the only real solution to congestion, pollution and lengthening journey times for all. Unfortunately I can't see it happening. Southwark can't get a bus route extended without Bojo's approval. And lets face it why is he ever going to want to spend money in Southwark? It a labour strong hold with Tory Major - no chance.
  22. nununoolio/davidh have you called the police about the speeders? The alternative route was blocked off with lorries from a tv company on saturday.
  23. davidh Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > probably a minute or two longer. poor you. It's not really me I am bothered about. I think the best way to improve road safety, reduce congestion and pollution is get more people out of their cars and on bikes and public transport. Making bike journeys more difficult, less comfortable and longer will discourage cycle use and bumps do exactly that. There is an automatic assumption that bumps are good solution to speeding ? they are not. If there are speeders on Strakers road why aren?t the police doing anything about it? Isn't it a bigger issue that the police are turning a blind eye these people who are recklessly endangering other peoples lives?
  24. Have these incidents on Strakers Rd been reported to the police?
  25. > strakers is not a through road > to peckham rye at all. it is a cul de sac. think > on The road to the east of the park is also called peckham rye.
