  1. just wanted to send best wishes to anybody who like myself for whatever reason are alone this christmas, its not easy listening to everybody celebrating and enjoying themselves. its like valentines day not so much fun when your're alone, so thoughts and best wishes to all fellow people alone this xmas
  2. havent seen that ms lilith but heard about it being something about people having an ouija (not sure of spelling) board tattooed on their backs for some reason, wasnt it?.
  3. unfortunately tho sue some of this sick joke is about to become a sick reality next year!!!
  4. it was a really difficult and shocking programme to watch the thing is without farms and farmers there will fewer people to look after the countryside, the farmers are going out of business at an alarming rate because the supermarkets want everything at such cheap prices and as the "product" in the case of milk, eggs etc are perishable they have to accept stupid prices which then means they cant pay off debts and go out of business. lf only more people had bought direct from farms instead of thinking cheap is better then maybe there would be more farms in business, this will all have a detrimental effect on our countryside and wildlife, but hey what does the government care at least the milk, eggs and meat will be cheap, tasteless but cheap. strange thing was the dairy farmer who was on the programme who had just gone out of business, was flown over to america to see these cow prisons, and stood there looking up at floor after floor of hundreds of cows standing like zombies with nowhere to lie down and said how happy they looked???
  5. thank you huguenot l do my best, l have many other campaigns going also please feel free to join and check out my website for details www.allanimalsdeserverespect.moonfruit.com l am also disgusted and sickened at the prospect of these battery prison ideas for cows and pigs like they have in america, for any of those who didnt see the panorama special tonight there are plans to open an enormous dairy prison where all cows will be kept in large airplane style hangers 24/7 stacked together in many floors with barely room to lie down, they wont get to go outside at all in their lives and will be given antibiotics to counterbalance their lack of sunlight and grass, there are also plans to have a similar type thing with pigs who are pumped into full grown size within 5months as opposed to the normal 2-3years. lts a scarey thought that soon there will be no more animals grazing in fields and no more farms all to make milk or meat that few pence cheaper, but what will be the after effects of all this meddleing with nature, lm so glad l dont eat meat we are going backwards in our treatments of animals not forwards.
  6. must admit l have a dry (some may say warped) sense of humour and one of my favourite films is harold and maude from around 1970
  7. well the petition bundle has been handed in to no 10, despite the awful weather and cold, + slipping over on the ice and doing my back in l will put pics on my website soon for members to view. merry xmas to everyone will update website when lve recovered a little.
  8. just had it confirmed that it all go for this friday to hand in the petition etc to downing street, have just got to get a few copies made of everything as l have to take one to the ofcom building too as soon as l can. l have made the facebook group a members only view as l was getting a few sarcastic remarks aimed at certain members, whilst l respect peoples opinions regarding what l am doing against animal cruelty l dont accept personal remarks made directly at members themselves, its unfair and nasty, one remark was made by someone on facebook that is out to cause misery and offence to people so at least making the page only accessable to members it should stop this childish behaviour. (well thats the theory at least) As for the website www.allanimalsdeserverespect.moonfruit.com lve had over 200 visits over the weekend!!, please feel free to join up its easy, non fattening, friendly, good for you and free (its not often that can all be put together) there are some pages only available to members as l could only have so many pages available to everyone, right l got to get prepared for friday, will check back later.
  9. thankfully the riverside changed their mind about the penguins tho they did say on their website that it was because of the possible risk to customers due to a demonstration that they had been informed about?. not bothered about the excuse just glad they cancelled, not sure what this sudden craze is this year for penguins, what do they have to do with christmas anyway?? Sue hadn't heard anything about that, l will try and check it out and get back to you on that, dj l must admit l do cringe when l see the mounted police in crowd situ's no matter how hard they are trained it must be so very difficult and scary for them not to allow their fight or flight sense kick in, l was in tears when l watched the student riot and saw some of them attacking the horses they are so vulnerable. lt can also be dangerous in other ways too, l was by big ben with my then 9yr old daughter in 2000 bringing in the new century, after the countdown etc people started to head away from big ben and some to various train stations, but for some reason the police put barracades across but didnt do anything about the crowds that were coming from the bridge and river towards parliament etc, so it got more and more crowded which knocked the barriers forward so the mounted police came over and moved the horses next to the barriers. my daughter and l were near the front and it ended up with us being pressed hard against the barriers, l could barely breathe and my daughter was crying in terror, l called to the policeman about the situation but couldn't get his attention, then in the panic his horse jolted and kicked his hind leg back a few times, l managed to grab my daughter and pull her slightly behind me and got kicked by the horse 30seconds after, at this the officer bent downwards grabbed me by the hair and told another officer l had done something to the horse, which resulted in my being pulled round the barrier and losing my grip on my daughter, thank god an elderly gentleman stepped forward with my daughter and told them l'd done no such thing and that l had almost passed out because it was so crowded, had moved my daughter because of the horse panicking and that the horse had kicked me seconds later. at this the officer was about to put us back behind the barriers but l said that l had a sister who worked for a daily newspaper and was going to phone her to say that the police were endangering peoples lives with an unnecessary barrier so they let us go and as we walked off, l tried to ring a relative to say happy new year and as l looked round they took down the barrier, it may have been coinsidence but l didnt care l was just relieved to be out of there.
  10. As if it wasn't bad enough with the saga at Hamleys with the reindeer (at least they saw sense eventually)now the Riverside shopping centre are doing this tomorrow !!! http://www.riversidehemel.com/Riverside/Article.aspx?ArticleID=428 their phone number is 01442 229 350 maybe you could let them know what you think
  11. no problem ridgley glad to see you didnt think l was being rude or abrupt with you. l still haven't been able to get through or hear back from anyone to confirm an appointment to hand over the petition bundle to downing street yet :-( theres only number you can ring and its on permanent answerphone lve left a couple of messages but no reply as yet and nobody can take anything to downing street without prior appointment, so somewhat stumped at the moment.
  12. regretably thanks to a complete cock up by a certain london police station and a few other people l have been told that the permission l evidently needed to do the protest tomorrow has not been submitted properly by the dept it was sent to, so if l do go ahead with the protest tomorrow l could land myself in problems with the police. So l shall be continueing to collect signatures both written and on my website www.allanimalsdeserverespect.moonfruit.com and will somehow be copying them to prepare a bundle to hand in to 10 downing street and another to the ofcom building, hopefully next week though l have to ring tommorrow to make sure this is ok. l would really appreciate some people to come with me when l do these handovers so if anyones interested please contact me through my website thank you
  13. l didnt get to see that film ms lilith but l agree l do like a film with a decent story going through it and my favourites has to be shawshank redemption so cleverly put together, especially when it shows just how he did with the shoes etc, l wont say too much in case l spoil it for someone.
  14. thanks for all the recent kind messages re my website, l cant believe l have had just over 200 visitors in the last couple of days, if only as many of you had joined lol, please feel free to join up (its free) and to pass on the details of the site. for those who dont want to read all through the thread the link is www.allanimalsdeserverespect.moonfruit.com thanks again.
  15. hope you read my last message ridgley meanwhile l have my outfit ready for the protest tho when l tried it on earlier to see if l could fit everything on underneath to stay warm l looked like ld gained about 2stone!! hmmm gonna have to have a little rethink costume wise.
  16. l think that has to be the film ms lilith asits so close to some of what my unc described other than he said the nose glowed, well maybe thats how it started so l think lm gonna stick with that thanks. l wonder if anyone else has a film stuck in their head that they cant think the name of or maybe other help, if not l guess the thread will sink down and disappear lol.
  17. Ridgley l do hope you didnt think l was being abrupt in my reply to you l certainly didnt intend to, l do know of quite a few people who are extreme in that , l was quite shocked when l was camped outside ITV in june+july people were reading my banners and coming up to me in quite a defence manner and asking if l was a vegetarian then, and when l explained l was a pescatarian (someone who eats fish +shellfish but no meat) they got all defensive about how l could still eat animals and complain about the programme?? l tried explaining that l eat them because l am wheat intolerant +cant digest a lot of the lentils etc +how my dr said l would have to either eat fish or have injections 2-3 times a month for health reasons, but they just got very defensive and nasty, so l ended up just agreeing that l was a veggie when asked to save further hassle. l joined an anti animal cruelty group some years ago but walked out and reported them when l found out they had broken into an animal testing lab and released a load of animals into the wild, those animals could have had any number of things wrong with them, or could have infected wild animals with all sorts of diseases, apart from the fact they were probably bred in the lab and wouldn't know how to look after themselves. There are some very forceful protestors out there, l lost the chance of some groups coming to support me in june-july as they wanted yo bring megafones and allsorts and when l explained l just wanted to do a decent, calm un intrusive protest they didnt want to know. All l want to do is put my message across of what l and many others objects to about the programme, thats how l have managed to get so many big animal charities like The Born Free Foundation and Brian May (of Queen fame)( l am in the process of listing them on the website tho not sure if they are viewable to non members) to back and support me because they know lm not out to cause a riot l just want to stop the un necessary abuse of animal cruelty, all animals have the same rights as humans to be treated with respect and decency. Theres a big difference between killing a creature to defend your home, yourself or the safety of family etc to killing or abusing an animal just for pleasure or "entertainment". btw l am also a she, an ageing punk rocker, amateur naturalist, honest, loyal, too soft for my own good, taurean stubborn, sci fi loving geek of a she. lol
  18. Thanks cassidy and ms lilith l have just checked out the atomic kid it sounds sooo close it just might be it, lm trying to find the film for an elderly uncle tho they swore it was just his nose that glowed, but as it was a long time ago they saw it maybe they got that wrong or maybe it starts with his nose. lm gonna make further investigations on this, the mcvicker film was something l was trying to tell someone about but couldn't remember the title, maybe l can help others who post here with film queries in return.
  19. ive tried going through some of the film titles but cant seem to find one that might match which is a shame as the small part l saw of it was really funny. lm not allowed to watch films with any of my friends anymore as l have a naughty habit of spotting editing mistakes etc and even if l dont say anything l cant stay totally silent so they know when lve spotted something :-$ now they wont watch any movie with me.
  20. Brilliant thx DJ one down one to go did you see the film?
  21. l thought l would start a film thread for budding and expert film buffs/fans sorry if there is such a thread somewhere but l couldn't find one. Sooo to start things off l just wondered if any film buffs out there could recognise 2 particular films lm trying to get the titles of, the first is a prison type film l think it starred a young Roger Daltrey it was quite a violent film and during a riot a group of the prisoners gathered together and started chanting #we dont care how late it is we're not going home, not going home etc cos we're having a wonderful time# ... the other film starred a young Mickey Rooney who due to something exploding ends up with a glowing nose. either of these ring any bells with anyone?
  22. l am aiming to go either this coming monday or tues to London, was thinking of going up by the houses of parliament somewhere, lm trying to get a kindly copy shop somewhere as l need to get at least one copy of the petition l have so that l can send one to no10 and later one to take to the offcom building, not having much luck at the moment either being told they dont want to or 2 that said they would didnt have the kind of copier that would auto feed the sheets to copy and it would have taken ages to put them each on by hand as there are 80+ sheets!!
  23. why thank you Sue l do my best, l just hope to see some more new members on my website the more support the more l can do. l am thinking of doing my next lm a celeb protest this monday or tues if anyone fancies joining me. l dont want the programme banned l just want the animal cruelty bit stopped, it teaches young children that its ok to "use" animals for entertainment. plus if one programme gets away with it then it spreads, even James May joined in recently on his "man lab" programme by encouraging some wasps to a jam butty then setting a firework rocket to blow them up???!!
  24. still no joy with sound on the vcr and l really dont want to have to separate the dvd rec +vcr from the rest as l wouldn't know how to change the main set up again. cant seem to find any other branded cheap vcr's, how l hate technology sometimes.
  25. Aquarius you're welcome hun hope you like my website enough to join, Ridgley yes l have the same belief for human beings too l dont think anyone has the right to abuse anyone, l fight for animals because they cannot fight for themselves, if you were to join my website (link in other posts on this thread) you will see l also have a website set up for my non profit org. (soon to be charity) to help abused children and survivors.
