  1. In fact Sean, I'm just realising how foolish your comments look because the whole raison d'etre of my comment was to show the TRANSFORMATION since I was given a chance and treated with leniency and given another chance. The supreme irony here, being presumptious as seeing some of your wet, namby-pampy, Nanny-State views in the past I would PRESUME that you are all for giving people an opportunity to mend their ways and not throw away the key and yet your attitude indicates the contrary or are Motorists a special case in your blinkered World?

It would help if you exercised the simple expedient of actually reading what someone writes before criticising. I CLEARLY said that I had received NO points for the last 12 years which was the whole point of my comment that I saw the light !...I saw the Road To Domestos !! You, obviously, have a thorough knowledge of driving (!) NOT as Points are erased after 3 years and are taken off one's Licence after 4 years. So NO POINTS for 12 years or, roughly, 200,000 Miles which indicates IMPECCABLE DRIVING i.e. a PERFECT score or did you miss that bit ! :))

Its pedants like you that are taking the fun out of Society. I bet you keep your work rule-book on you at all times and can quote Paragraph 15 on Page 111 Sub-Section 2© if you need to. You must be a right giggle down the Mucky Duck.:)-D

Yes 3 x 3 Points is terrible I agree for committing the cardinal triumvirate of sins of doing 34 and 35 and 38 in 3 seperate 30mph Limits with only 3 points in the previous 15 years and none since. Thats 4 x 3 Point speeding fines in over 500,000 miles mostly in/around London! Why thats ONE-IN-EVERY 125,000 Miles Disgraceful if you ask me as the average journey was around 10 miles so thats 50,000 Journeys and 4 x 3 Points fines and only 2 incidents. Thats is ONE PENALTY IN-EVERY 12,500 Journeys ! Shouldn't be on the roads if you ask me. WHAT UTTER GARBAGE IV AND SEAN and ZEBAN.......LOL

My comment was like me saying the sun is rather warm and yet some seek to deny the blindingly obvious, which beggars the question why? Girls/Women "in general" have always been the most communicative. Thats "in general" for Rosie et al. Its just that I've told many I know that they are obsessed with them and find it difficult to put them down! lol Next time you see a solitary Girl of say 15 upwards at a Bus Stop sitting down you can almost guarantee she will be using it.

"Lady" "Female" "Female Driver" "Lady Driver" "Woman" "Woman Driver"...whatever term floats yer boat..:)) How many times have you ever seen a Guy have too much difficulty parking?..even I've been asked 5/6 times to park or move a car where the Young Lady has thrown in the towel ( snow/ice etc ). Funny how you didn't commenr on my "balancing" criticism of Guys who are the only ones guilty of "under"taking nearly every time. Or do we realise negative Male generalisations are "true".. Lovely.
  9. RosieH Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Was Hilda always on the phone too Simonet? Your > sweeping generalisations about women point to > breastfeeding issues Simonet. Its blatantly obvious that whilst we are all individuals and should be treated as such and while there are exceptions to every rule there are, clearly, certain differences in behavioural patterns between the 2 genders, "in general". Any student of human behaviour over 5 Decades will, invariably, come to the same conclusion. The only thing that irritates me that if, for example, I see a Driver "under"taking illegaalyon the roads, and I state, with almost 100% confidence that it will be a Guy and if a Driver is having trouble parking it will be a Lady then nobody is prepared to put money down to support an alternative view. Its like me saying that an articulated lorry on the roads will be driven by a Man as in 30 years and over 500,000 miles of driving I've never seen a Female lorry driver. ( though I'm sure there's ONE in Dundee or ONE in Preston that I've not encountered. To not realise certain differences, with exceptions to the generalisation, is to ignore the obvious and one could ask what "issues" someone has to not want to acknowledge the obvious.B)

Please don't be apopplec, apoplex, apopoplecx, annoyed on my behalf Rosie, do your own random survey over the next 2 weeks and then tell me I'm wrong ( at which point the goalposts change and it will then be "What does it matter, anyway" ? lol

Here's my tail Horsebox.:) I was on a train 2 years ago and suddenly realised that every single female and 1/2 Males were all on the phone or texting and there must have been 16/17 people. Just random, thought I. B) After the journey in the street the pattern continued to a lesser extent and I've looked out for it ever since. 2 Guys that I commented about this too have both said something along the lines of you are right as we never reaaly noticed how obvious it was b4. It really is so blatantly obvious to me now Horsebox, that just look when you are out and about. Teenage Females and above are obsessed with Mobiles. They are using them. in some form, when they on their own, in particular, most of the time. Since that day 2 years ago, its been apparent virtually every day since and I will be astonished if you witness any different over, say, a 2-week "trial" period.:)
  12. Why do 75/80% of young females use their mobile phones when out and about, at any given time? Thats to speak to someone or text or to see who has left a message or if they have missed a call ( heaven forfend ! ) or listen to music or to just fiddle with it most of the time. p.s. If you don't believe me do your own large survey next week and you will be amazed how engrossed they are.

Don't want to take any risks. Don't want to receive the blame. ummmm:-$
  14. I know someone who was a Warden in Southwark for a while and he said the first words the Manager used to ask on his return was "Any Towaways" which sums their attitude up perfectly as they were the highest earners.
  15. I agree anyone who parks in Bus Lanes are inconsiderate and deserve all they get. However I would like to hear a response to the "scum" examples Peckham Rose mentions. Does anyone think any tickets should have been issued in the those examples? What happened to discretion or flexibility or compassion or common sense? I'll give you an example of an Officer's good nature and judgement. I had 9 points on my Licence and in a huge traffic jam around the old Trafalgar Square did a U-Turn in the middle of the Square and entered Whitehall. I was the only car that broke free of the traffic that was totally stationary. Heard the sound of sirens and knew another 3 points meant a Court appearance and I needed my car for work. Male and Female Police Officer got out . Decades of experience told me to try to smooth it over with the Male Officer as I've always found 99% of Female Officers ( of almost any type) "stick to the letter of the book with no adaptability whatsoever). That has been my 40 year work experience so no aoplogies for having that view. Told the Policeman, when we were alone, that I had 9 points and was sorry and I would behave impeccably in future. After some thought and hearing the excuse/reason I made about the complete stranger who got into my car in Piccadilly Circus in the traffic, a few minutes earlier, and asked me to take him to Harrow ! lol and that I was shook up by the whole experience he let me go with only a final warning and no points. He actually told me to f+++ Off . lol I thanked him profusely and he repeated that I should f+++ Off b4 his colleague came back from the vehicle check. I was so relieved and grateful that in the last 12 years I have never received any points and done everything by the book. All Thanks to that kind Officer who showed some FLEXIBILITY.

Bus Lanes ARE beneficial for BUS USERS ! lol... Why, hypothetically, would "all" the bus users start driving ? Only a % of people drive anyway ( for multi-farius reasons ) . So that scenario would never happen, in any event. I do use the Bus/Tube during the week because Big Brother has forced me to as it is so much easier for users of the Buses, in particular, these days. and we have always had an excellent tube service. Sod the poor old motorists then, after all there only helping to pay for extra delay they face, I should start laughing at them as I sail by and give them a cheery wave.(tu) For journeys through London I wouldn't dream, these days, of driving thru' the heart of Town as it has been made a nightmare because of the Anti-Car Movement. ( Yeah! I know, "we" are not anti-car but Pro Public Transport ..:) Just symptomatic of the lack or restriction of choice that we face in many areas these days, for example "Big Brother" has deemed that we WILL sit down at Football Matches even though the overwhelming majority of fans prefer to stand. p.s. We must always listen to those that "know best" on our behalf. Where's Winston Smith when you eed him ?

  19. I love the concept of Bus Lanes keeping traffic moving! The other week in Marylebone Road the traffic barely moved for TWENTY MINUTES in the "motorist" Lane while the Bus Lane remainded virtually empty the whole time. How many hundreds of thousands of combined hours are wasted when motorists are left immobile in "their" Lanes, all over London, during each year. Often while the Bus Lane is empty or barely used, next door. I'm not an expert on the environment but the pollution caused by the ( often ) stationary cars can't be good for the planet can it, so do people just ( conveniently and selectively ) just ignore that side-effect of clogging up the traffic ? Am I right that Road Taxes ( paid by the motorist ) and Council Tax, contributed by motorists amongst others, actually pay for these Bus Lanes? Thats great paying for something that causes you a delay ! lol Where I live the genius's in the local Council have introduced 2 Cycle Lanes to the High Street from our surrounding Main Road over the last 18 months. One Cycle lane is on the pavement so does not affect the traffic but the other lane has narrowed the traffic space so that the ( formerly ) free-flowing Road is now, often, at a standstill ( especially during rush hours ) and the benefit for thousands of hours being wasted over the 18 months ?.....about 30 cyclists I've seen during that whole 18 months, about 2 cyclists per month.
  20. Frequency, please. p.s. ...and don't say its on every day!:))
  21. I'm disposing of mine now too. Mine had the distinct taste of Dog pee. There is a very noticeable difference between the smell of cat urine versus dog urine. Cat urine is very strong, high in ammonia content. Dog urine, on the other hand, has almost a sweet smell to it and is not nearly as potent. If the smell doesn?t knock you over or make your eyes water, I?d suspect the dog, if you have one ! Are you sure yours wasn't dog pee or was it cat pee? Was the smell of the possible urine high in ammonia content, would you say and do you have a Dog ?
  22. "Lets go shopping Darling. I only want to pop into one or two stores ". Easy revenge for anyone unfortunate enough to be co-erced and dragged round. Afterwards go for a drink. Go to 10 different Pubs and then decide to finally have a drink in the first one that you went ..in.
