  1. looking for a local 'animal man' to come to a birthday party with animals to pet for an 8 year old party. any recommendations appreciated.
  2. Pavel and his team were really great. They were very efficient and kept us calm through the move! Nice guys, safe pairs of hands would definitely use again. Price was favorable too and a lot cheaper than some of the other more well known companies.
  3. We just had my daughters 7th birthday party at captured in the rye. It is a really good alternative party. The girls were totally engrossed in the activity from drawing and cutting out to getting involved with the screen printing and shrieking with delight at their finished t shirts. The spin painting and candy floss also added another dimension of creative fun. Would recommend highly as a memorable birthday activity with a keep sake to go home with!
  4. Suddenly occurred to me that I am a grown up with children and a house and should probably make a will. Can anyone recommend a company that you have had a good experience with, for will making - a rather daunting task and I have no idea of the price to do it! Thanks in advance :)
  5. hello - we had our garden done a year ago and had new turf laid which has never really taken. can anyone recommend a gardener who may have this as a speciality. problem could have been the quality of the turf itself - or the drainage underneath - it always felt very wet even in high summer. we are looking to do this in the Spring and we need someone who really knows what they are doing! please PM Me thank you.
  6. Would recommend Chania in Crete - we stayed in a lovely relaxed placed called Lekfa appartments. pool, restaurant on site, laid back, near a lovely beach (es). we had a 4 year old and a baby and will probably go with them again next year.

  10. Hello all - looking for recommendations from anyone on good family destinations for some pre-winter guaranteed sunshine. We have a baby and a 4 year old so looking for somewhere hassle free e.g. somewhere close to an airport for a DIY holiday or a decent all inclusive. It would be end of October. There seems to be so much choice/ variation and personal recommendations are so valuable! thanks in advance
  11. Hello can anyone who has had a side return extension and / or loft conversion let me know if you would recommend your builder for obvious reasons: good job, nice people to deal with, cost effective. We are looking to get both a side return and loft conversion done and want to get the ball rolling with quotes. We are in Peckham so looking for any one that covers the area. thanks so much for helping us navigate this minefield ;)

  16. Is it just us or is anyone else's tree RUBBISH. we bought one from the place outside The Rose Pub on Forest Hill Road/ Peckham Rye and they supply the ones by the Clock House pub too. It is the worst tree yet. Needles would come off if you blew it gently. We will be chucking it straight after boxing day if it lasts that long. Anyone got any tips on a good place to buy one locally??? got to get it right next year else it's fake all the way!
  17. i've said it before i'll say it again east dulwich peeps - it's all about peckham not one ounce of atmosphere late night anywhere in east dulwich, except perhaps franklins on occasion and the great exhibition....
  18. wow that got the feathers ruffled! loving the peckham cuss EDLove clearly you are slightly behind the times on the hottest place to live/ buy in south east london - way better stuff over this way and i have lived in both areas. i will totally take the andersons point - it is expensive but at least their pain au chocolats are big!! over and out coffee ragers!
  19. My sister and I popped into Le Chandelier for a coffee and a cake the other morning. I am outraged by the prices in there. We ordered large capuccinos to be told they only do one size (small) - they were ?3 and we had 3 sips in each cup as it was mostly foam - a pound a sip. we ordered a pain au chocolat each and they were also small and underwhelming and 3.50 - yes three pounds fifty for a pain au chocolat!! very glad i have moved to peckham where places like Anderson and Co, Cafe Viva, Le Petit Chou and Cinammon Tree Bakery offer far better value for money. Not to mention Mouse Tails coffee van outside the Peckham Library which does excellent EXCELLENT coffee. feel free to share coffee prices based rants and recommendations for the sake of my amusement.
  20. Patryk who we found on the forum here, proved to be an excellent find. We are delighted with the work he has done on our garden for us this month. He was very extremely hardworking and clean and tidy and reasonably priced. We got him to transform our wild garden full of old concrete, unwanted wells and old decking, to a freshly laid lawn a lovely new patio and steps, a rockery and a shed. We often sent an email in the evening with requests and updates as I left him to it the day and he understood the brief perfectly. Thoroughly good bloke and cant recommend him enough. You can find Patryk on this email address below. [email protected]
  21. Hello we are looking for someone who can remove old decking and patio, level our garden a bit and install a lawn and new patio. We are not looking for an expensive landscape garden job but something more relatively straight forward. please get in touch if you think this sounds like you, or you can recommend anyone, via PM. thank you.
  22. Hello I have just had my second baby and want to work with a female personal trainer to help me shift the extra dress size I have gained and generally tone up. Looking for a weekly session anytime during the day Wednesday to Friday. I will have my baby with me who will sleep in the pram so looking for a park based work out. thanks for PMing me!
  23. Hi there - I am looking for activities during the week for a one year old (my baby) and a 2.5 year old (my nanny's child). My nanny is looking for things to do in the area and beyond the Peckham Library rhyme time/ soft play she really can't find anything. Any one know of any nice classes around Peckham Rye/ Nunhead - would really appreciate any tips. Am thinking music based/ play classes.
