  1. Hi - can anyone recommend and music classes or play sessions in the Peckham Rye area? I have just moved from east dulwich where there is obviously lots to do! thanks in advance.
  2. Hi we have just moved to the area and I am looking for some (hopefully!!) reassurance that schools in Peckham are gettting better. Our little girl is only 1 but we haven't massively done our research and I wondered if there were other families living in Peckham who had stories to tell about good/ bad schools in the area. We are Peckham Rye end.
  3. no but i live around the corner so i will pop by tomorrow to see if it's on and report back!
  4. yes there is probably a similar thread somewhere knowing the east dulwich foodies - but I have to throw a new one into the mix having tasted them all. Green and Blue too dry, East Dulwich deli nice but too soft and squidgy, Lucas average. I actually just had the best brownie of my WHOLE ENTIRE LIFE at the new Homemade cafe on Barry Road. The guy is a genius. Please check them out brownie lovers.
  5. i am loving the peckham big up - I am moving FROM east dulwich TO peckham in fact. lordship lane is so samey. i am looking forward to a culinary adventure - it's got the best persian shop in london, a farmers market, amazing fruit and veg stalls - sooooo cheap too. any other peckham tips for a first(ish) timer welcome peckham massive.........
  6. thanks everyone - so much food for thought - I am on Bromar Road to answer somebody's question! I feel much better equipped to deal with this now. God - thank god for the east dulwich forum - so much sense spoken here. I wish I had thought about them paying for the survey and me reiumbursing them on exchange, what a good idea. You live and learn.
  7. I agree - Denise's comments are just plain wrong for the reason ladywotlunches says - and Giselle's are out of touch with reality. However I am giving her the benefit of the doubt that her comments could have been twisted as of course, I believe, women should TRY and breast feed for 6 months given it is undisputedly the best start in life for your baby and that has to come first - but I absolutely sympathise with women who can't as it must be so upsetting. Women who 'won't' however due to vanity I can not relate to.
  8. Hi I am having trouble shifting my flat because my buyer's bank are trying to prove there is subsidence. I have to pay for a survey to my own property next week to investigate a couple of cracks etc and wondered if anyone else had had any problems of this nature? I had a full survey done here when i moved in 5 years ago and the report said chances of subsidence were 'extremely remote'. My gut feeling is this is the banks being over cautious about lending (a first time buyer) money - they seem to be leaving no stone unturned with wanting second surveys, opinions etc which I have to pay for. I am worried that even if the survey comes back and says there is none at the moment but there COULD be in the future (as I also hear that surveyors are being very cautious and sitting on the fence with wording these days), that this will stop the bank lending the buyer the money. Just wondered if any one else had experienced anything similar recently as i have an agonising week to wait before the second survey.
  9. thanks everyone - ready brek went down a treat this morning didn't think of that!!! whilst it's not organic i pretty much grew up on that and didn't do me any harm. perfect solution.
  10. Hi - am hoping for inspiration here. My 8 month old still can't handle 'bits' in food without gagging so I need suggestions for smooth pureed food. She loves all vegetables I give her i.e. purees of pea, brocolli, squash etc so I get one nice meal down her in the afternoon - but she is currently rejecting all fruit purees so currently isn't having anything for breakfast. Pure baby rice is too bland. She hates banana and doesn't seem to like pear or apple with baby rice either. I am therefore stuck for breakfast ideas. Any other ideas for fruity purees or other breakfast ideas?
  11. i literally can't believe no one has mentioned Rob da Bank - often spotted in Sainsburys or pushing a pram - also Timothy Spall often spotted at the Palmerston plus Erin O'Connor in Black Cherry (lives on or near Camberwell Grove I believe.....)
