  1. Andrew - that is cool - nice work. Does the brick-fronted office complex next to the Sea Cow count as empty? Doesn't seem to be in use at present. Not sure of my building numbers but could it be the site for this proposed new Spa? Planning Information for Application Number 06-AP-2479 Location: 79 Lordship Lane, London, SE22 8EP Proposal: Change of use of vacant building, previously retail into a beauty salon/spa.
  2. Awful joke, but I should be there on Sat propping up the bar from half time onwards
  3. Ok, we will definately try Surma again xstolenx. Might wait until the smoking ban is in place though. Food was really good and draught Cobra was fine! Without wanting to turn this into too much of a restaurant review thread - I was wanting to make a point about anti-social smokers (Surma award thread is now locked), Tandoori Nights was excellent last night (and is non-smoking). I guess we are just lucky to have so much choice on Lordship Lane.
  4. And how come you are aware of these local houses of ill-repute Snorky?
  5. thanks for the sympathy, we are going to try Tandoori Nights tonight actually so will let you know how that goes
  6. has anyone noticed how the peckham experiment has changed for the millionth time in a few years? visited for brunch last week and was shocked at the pigs swill they served! do not go there, over priced cafe food, tesco value burgers, soggy fries and all pre packed crap i am so cross about actually going there and that people have the nerve to try and serve that food! do not go there, save your money and go to anywhere else!!
  7. The rye hotel is great for sunday lunch, no smoking bar area and loads of space. Avoid the Bellenden Brasserie, ate there last week, ordered burger having checked it was homemade, yes was the reply, it wasnt! frozen bad quality burger with a slice of processed plastic cheese, microwaved chips all bad!! 6 people all refused to eat food, they offered a return visit for free, i think not!!
  8. we ate at Surma after reading the reviews about it online. The food was great but one of the waiters absolutley stank of smoke, the people next to us smoked the whole way through our meal, while we were eating, and even when no one was smoking the air vents bringing air in must have been near the staff smoking area, we were really diappointed and probably would not go there again because of this.
  9. cheers batdog - will try them
  10. Does anyone have a recommendation for a similar newsagent for home deliveries at the Goose Green end of LL?
  11. Maybe he was bear-napped - did one of Dylan's paws arrive in the post this morning? My guess is that he got the taste and that he has headed out to attempt the SE22 'all 15 bars' pub crawl - have you tried looking for him in the back room of kebab and wine?
  12. Yes - you might need to host them on an image server type website first - try imageshack. You also need to be a registered user to do this - then there is a simple button to click.
  13. We ate for the first time at Surma this week - was very tasty, and draft Cobra was ace! PS Mark - the SE22 mag hyperlink is broken (Thanks, it's un-broken now)
  14. Paul - do you have some before and after pictures of the Cobbs Corner roundabout that you could post to help people to visualise some of the benefits you are suggesting?
  15. If the Dog and the White Horse are allowed in - how about the Rye Hotel? Can get v smokey indoors, but think there is a family friendly bit out the back. Competition for tables can get quite intense and waiting times for food gets quite long as a result (but they are always honest up front about this). Food is excellent - always worth waiting for.
  16. Aww spymum but I'm sure he/she is gifted and talented in other ways ;-)
  17. Hi James, great to hear that your kid is so clever. Anyone out there admit to having a thickie?
  18. 3-1 Dulwich. Definitely some bad blood between these two teams - don't think I've ever seen the trainers on the pitch so many times in one game! First foul was 3 seconds after kick-off, 5 minutes later the Hamlet no 6 was stretched off unconcious, then the incidents built up until a massive fight broke out in injury time, which saw 2 Hamlet players red carded - one for a punch and one for a head butt. If you weren't there, you should have been - this match had everything. Including the Dulwich no 10 scoring the second with a certain part of his anatomy ::o
  19. It might do after the free wine tasting! ::o
  20. Will http://farm1.static.flickr.com/137/360734235_bb1211a1af_t.jpg be playing? I heard he was injured.
  21. Maybe we could take up Green & Blue's offer of a free wine-tasting? (see Green & Blue thread for details)
  22. I can endorse all the comments about the Brierley Midwives - have been super for us to date (due in 3 weeks :) )
  23. I'll be there too! Only started going this season - not a glory-hunter honest ;-) Think the Gowlett is quite popular before/after too.
  24. Funny to read other people's experiences - my wife and I have only been in once, when we sat down in the bar area we were made to feel very uncomfortable by the single member of staff who eyed us from behind a counter. After 5 minutes of confusion about how/what we could order (there were no menus/wine lists on the table), we upped and left. And have, like QZ and Rob, never gone back.
