  1. Yah , looking forward to popping in again ! Do you still have those fabulous plates with ships / boats on them that you had over Christmas?
  2. This is a fantastic shop, so many great products - be careful though - once you've try those feta / spinach / olive pastries they sell right at the back you will find yourself longing for them! the Houmous is also very good
  3. Zoe who runs Strawberry Drama holds a fun, warm and creative drama sessions = i think for this age group they are on a Wednesday at the Ivyhouse - https://www.strawberrydrama.com/ My daughter has been part of her drama group for the last 5 years and has absolutely love it.
  4. Thank you for all the information - I have found my old lonely planet Greek island guides so am busy researching and getting closer to a decision.
  5. I have a real longing to go to Greece this summer - From watching the Durrell's (tv programme) Corfu is high on my list and you can fly to. But also wondering if anyone had any islands they had been to recently (especially with a tween/teen) that they could recommend either in terms of getting there and where you stayed. The other option is to fly to Athens then take a ferry - any suggestions would be most welcome!
  6. I have a daughter at Kingsdale - when we initially went to look at the school when she was in Year 5 - like Redjam says we found the headteachers talk almost off putting. However as it was one of the co-ed schools around we put it on our list of 6 - it was not our first choice as we were also worried about how big it was. My daughter got offered a place and we took it - still with some concerns. However the school has given her a range of opportunities, loads of extra curricular activities that they can drop in and out of (dance, music, drama, sport, horse riding etc). I have emailed the head of learning on two occasions and received a response and a phone call that same day to answer my questions. Any email to any staff member has always been responded to. So although big they seem to manage this with different year groups ending school at different times so it never feels too hectic. Overall we are very happy with the choice and feel that educationally she is been both pushed and supported. We love the range of activities she has been able to partake in - music, drama, maths, art etc all seem to be very strong and supported.
  7. Went to the shop today - it has such beautiful gifts and delighted to learn they will be open for the next 6 months. Couldn?t believe how reasonably priced everything was, so many beautiful things had to remember that I was there to buy gifts and not lovely items for myself! If you need any gifts and want to avoid tat I would head on down to this shop.
  8. Looking forward to visiting. I have been to your store in Greenwich, you have lovely stuff!
  9. Thank you once again to everyone for giving recommendations and so much choice! As (bad) luck would have it, my cat managed to cut there paw quite badly last week (vet thinks glass) - and needed stitches / anaesthetic / more medication - so it was incredibly handy and used a vet listed here. Much appreciated.
  10. Looking for a recommendation for a singing teacher for my daughter - preferably Nunhead or Peckham as she might need to go there on her own after school.
  11. I have been taking my cats to the Neighbourhood Vet which has now moved to Lordship Lane. However at a recent visit there, they charged me over ?100 - ?60 which related to medication for my cats conjunctivitis in one eye. I think I need to find a new vet! I did a quick online search to find that the medication they had given me sold for a third of the price on any website. As the medication had already been opened and a dose of each medication given I had to pay for them. I am very happy with the quality of vets and that service, and that fee is in line with what I expect to pay, however I feel like the prices are unnecessarily bumped up in this way. I have emailed (and phoned) them about this. But I think I need to find a vet that does not over-charge on any medications - would love to have some recommendations as I need to get my cats moved over to another practice.
  12. I use the hygienist at Half Moon and the policy there is to pay upfront as well.
  13. I meant to add this resource as well - they do frequent webinars (around ?15 each) and will help you understand dyslexia, how to support your child - for example there's one in October about how to support your child back at school https://www.sendgroup.co.uk/
  14. A good starting point might be to contact BDA (british dyslexia association) - they are a charity and have loads of information and might be able to signpost you to an assessment (I think they have some bursaries for this as well) They have accredited tutors as well and you could ask for advice / recommendations around this. Once your child has a statement it will be really useful as it will state what their strengths and weaknesses are - might allow for some funding for resources etc, and you can use it with the school to make sure they are meeting the educational requirements for your child (this is protected under the new equalitites law) - the BDA might be able to also let you know about local support groups, where they often share information about what resources are out there and ways to support your child, https://www.bdadyslexia.org.uk/advice/children/is-my-child-dyslexic I am part of a forum (where resources around dyslexia are shared ) - if you DM me your queries I can also ask the forum (closed to members) any specific questions to see if I can find you any additional information or support.
  15. If you find someone who does this, I would really appreciate a recommendation as well.
  16. Check your insurance as some of these include cover of making a new key. Hope you get it sorted
  17. My daughters sewing machine needs someone to look at it. The needle snapped and ?fell? in - I think this needs to be located! Thanks
  18. Perhaps message admin - they Might be able to help you. Really sorry this has happened to you.
  19. I have used Maria for a spring / deep clean. She does make it clear that she requires a deposit, I also made an error but it was rectified with her. Her cleaning was excellent, and she is a really lovely person. I would defiantly have her again to do a spring clean. I am sorry that you did not feel this, but I am sure her terms say you can re-book, and if she has offered you an alternative day to clean then it is your choice whether you ?lose? the money. Sometimes written communication can lack the warmth of face to face, and seem more direct or brusque. I hope you both can resolve this.
  20. Look at Harris Girls - they do gymnastics there - (after school hours) not sure of the age ranges but my daughter took some extra classes there. https://www.harrisdulwichgirls.org.uk/36/harris-fitness
  21. Perhaps a coincidence but both these recommendations are from posters who have this as their first (and only post).
  22. edcam - just to note that with the loose veg (very limited in Sainsbury's) - you can put it straight into your basket / trolley and weigh it loose - you dont have to put it into a bag at all. The scanner weights it and prices it and you dont need another sticker. If you do want to avoide plastic there are many smaller shops - for example a great one on nunhead lane that sells almost 80% of all its fruit and veg loose / no plastic - and if you do need a bag they have paper ones.
  23. I can also highly recommend these classes - i will let Stevie give the exact temperature but it is arund 27degrees or so - its a really wonderful space - and as someone who has re-started after decades, I am so enjoying it.
