  1. I recently saw two people on horseback emerge from the stable entrance into Dulwich Park (they have a gate leading directly to the park I think) and proceed to ride around on the clay/sand track. And thinking about it, I have seen horseshoe markings on the track now and again, so I assume you get to ride the horses around the park if you are a competent-enough rider? Same set-up as Hyde Park perhaps - they have a similar track for horseriding there.
  2. Point taken. I'm sure if I had asked to be served the shop assistant standing right in front of me would have stopped counting receipts and served me.
  3. I tried to buy something there a few months ago, waited about 10minutes at the cash desk (there were no other customers) while the two members of staff carried on with what they were doing (one was re-arranging the display furniture, the other was at the desk counting up receipts) and in the end I just walked out...I think it's rude and makes bad business sense to ignore your customers! I'd rather spend my money elsewhere. Previously I had been mildly irritated on more than one occasion when the staff discussed their social life amongst themselves in loud detail (yawn...who cares how many cocktails you had last night, just take my money so I can go home) during customer transactions, but at least they had served the customers! I just don't bother going in there now, I like some of their stuff but the service is a let-down.
  4. *bump* Still looking for feedback from anyone... I now know they take children from 3 months, but I am worried about availability of spaces at the creche as it only runs 2 mornings a week and has only spaces for 3 children. I could only use the gym if I can avail of the creche, so I'm debating whether it is even worth joining now as it would be a right waste of money if the creche is consistently full/overbooked. Thanks in advance.
  5. Hi Has anyone used the creche at ESPH and if so I'd be interested to hear your feedback (plus the age of your child etc). Is it only available 2 mornings a week? (Any plans to extend this?) Is there a minimum age limit? Is there an additional charge? Thanks
  6. Try going up the stairs to look for a seat as the driver hurtles around a corner, when 8 months pregnant (the 'priority' seats mean nothing unfortunately). And I normally do cycle, but getting on a bus seems the lesser of 2 evils when pregnant (or maybe not!).
  7. I also thought foxes would run away from a cat, after a bit of a tussle this fox caught the cat in its jaws unfortunately.
  8. Was anyone else awoken by a fox fighting with what looked like a cat on Heber road Friday night? It was late, probably about 3am. I looked out the window and it was horrific, and it seemed (though it was dark) as though the cat came off quite badly. I won't go into details here. My partner got up and went outside and walked up and down the road but he couldn't see the cat anywhere - the fox we had seen run off in the meantime. I am a cat lover, and I have had nightmares since about the owners possibly finding their cat in a very bad state. The cat might not be a Heber road resident at all, as cats do tend to ramble around, I hope he made it home ok
  9. Any chance you can put the class timetable online? The links on your website are broken it seems (as are the ED membership links). Thanks
  10. Oh and do they have a class timetable? I've scoured the esph website and also emailed them for details but so far nothing...
  11. Hi EDKiwi Do you know if yoga classes etc are open to drop-ins? ie non-members? And are they any good (if you've attended) Thanks
  12. :) I'd be keen to hear feedback from anyone who's actually tried the gym/classes. And is there steam/sauna etc? (someone already asked but no-one responded) Thanks
  13. I called in to the new gym recently to find out about yoga classes. Classes are open to non-members as well, pretty pricey though at (I think) ?16 per class. This is more expensive than established yoga studios like Triyoga etc (!). So maybe they will be really good. The guy I spoke to was quite disparaging when I asked about Astanga yoga - I can't recall his exact words but it was along the lines of "we don't do that kind of yoga here". There really was no need to be patronising, even my partner (who has no idea about yoga whatsoever and wouldn't know his hatha from his iyengar) felt affonted by his tone. I didn't even know yoga snobbery existed before now. Hopefully this guy was just an inexperienced employee, but really, customer treatment is so key here. They have potentially lost one or two new members.
  14. I was at home this afternoon at about 3pm when a guy called at the door. As I was about to go out and didn't want to be delayed with gas meter reading or whatever, I didn't answer, but expected him to drop something in the door along the lines of "sorry we missed you" etc. He rang the doorbell twice (looked like he had a clipboard of sorts) but he didn't leave a calling card which I though was a little weird, but now on reading this it's possibly suspicious. When I left the house a few minutes later I didn't see any likely utility van or anything around. (happened on Heber Road)
