  1. ...Running up & down Colyton Road at 12.30 today (6 Nov), just missed by a car and ran into Peckham Rye Park. Hope it's safe.

  4. I was wondering if there was an update too. Couldn't see the mother or goslings on the lake this Eve.
  5. We ate there last night. Food was wonderful and the staff so friendly. Great that it is open again. It's doing a roaring trade in take-aways too.
  6. Thank you so much for your actions, EgyptianGooseRescuer. And thanks for keeping us updated.
  7. Greetings on Lordship Lane do them - for next year ...
  8. As we exit lock-down, I wanted to say what a life-saver Peckham Rye Park wildlife has been for me & my kids. Watching the wild-fowl families grow on the lake and the Japanese Garden pond has been enthralling. We?ve watched the mallard ducklings, Canada goslings, cootlings & moorhen chicks grow up. We?ve watched the tufted ducklings dive like pros. All surviving the heron and cormorant. Yesterday we saw a female mandarin duck with 3 chicks. (Thank you to the dog walker who took his dog the other way as the ducklings were foraging on the path.) This morning we heard the female Egyptian goose call, the male dashed over and we saw a single gosling, we hope to see more. They lost their first clutch in early May. We?ve also seen young robins, young crows in the picnic area, nuthatches and 4 sightings of female stag beetles - no males yet. Hoping that owners will keep dogs out of the dog-free zones & on short leads in the gardens to help the wildlife flourish.
  9. You are fabulous, Renata, thank you so much. Yes he is still there this morning.
  10. Poor chap slept out in the rain on the corner of Colyton Road/Forest Hill Road & Peckham Rye park Sunday night & was there again this evening (Monday). I've seen him around for a few months but (naively) hadn't realised until today that he was sleeping rough. He's always been v civil when I've seen him. Not sure whether anyone else has done this, but I'll ask councillors whether Southwark can help.
  11. Thank you, TE44, for adding the links.
  12. As a human being, rendelharris, I am disappointed at the distraction that you have introduced to this thread. I ignored your message as I thought you were trolling. It's not about me. It's not about you. It's about children dying - of starvation - in 2016. Young human beings starving to death - avoidable suffering and avoidable death, as a consequence of adult human actions. Thank you DaveR for the link to http://www.msf.org.uk/country-region/yemen Please share more actions that we can take to do what we can to end this crisis.

As a mother of 7 year old boys I'm horrified that we can allow children to starve to death in 2016. This man-made crisis is appallingly under-reported. Please do what you can and let me know what more I can do.
  14. The frightening thing is that now and in the immediate future, funding for the education of our children in all schools and colleges is being cut - whether they are local authority maintained schools, sixth form colleges, academies. This is my concern as a parent of children just starting their education.
  15. The Goodrich Primary School Summer Fair is on Saturday 18 June 2:00 - 5:00. Attractions include sumo wrestling, tin pan alley, the Goodrich sausage and more! Click this link for the flyer... http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/file.php?6,file=221542
  16. Forest Hill end of Colyton Road out. All went a bit Close Encounters with lights flashing on & off and phone half ringing.
  17. Thanks Dano, I've corrected my post. Save Southwark Woods will have a stall at Nunhead Cemetary Open Day this Saturday 16 May 11-5. I'm sure they'll have paper petitions there for the kids to sign. Woods for the living!
  18. Southwark council still wants to destroy beautiful wild woodlands at Camberwell Old and New Cemeteries, felling dozens of trees, clearing woodland and undergrowth, and excavating acres of old graves, to make way for 4,500+ new burial plots in a sanitised and sterile landscape. The campaign to Save Southwark Woods was formed in January 2015 to petition Southwark to create 100 acres of protected wildness with respect for the dead, their resting place and memorials and woodland for the living. Save Southwark Woods are against cutting down trees or clearing undergrowth other than for reasons of health and safety or for the enhancement of wild life. This is to achieve in our lifetimes a beautiful 100 Acre wood in the inner city and a memorial to the dead of Southwark. They have until July 8th to gather signatures, when they will be presenting the petition and their case to the full Council Assembly. Over 5,000 have already signed online and on paper - they want to make it 10,000 by July. Can you sign, and help Save Southwark Woods - for nature, for people and for the future? 23. Thank you, Anna M, for your insight into this primary school. It is helpful to have the views of parents with children at the school. We have been offered SFC after not having been offered any of our six choices and are visiting the school for a tour for parents and children on Monday 28 April at 11.30. Chocky
