  1. Mathematics is "the Queen of Sciences" doc. btw - Stephen Hawking has his own 73 - We now know that every particle has an antiparticle, with which it can annihilate. There could be whole antiworlds and antipeople made out of antiparticles. However, if you meet your antiself, don't shake hands! You would both vanish in a great flash of light. 'quote #73 from A Brief History Of Time' - which kinda nixes the anti-73 theory I've been working on...

  4. Alan Medic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Another 73 gone to waste. Unless you apply the 'interior-argumentative' equation of lost opportunity (as you should have done in your own recent example of x+y=z) In which case (with the thread represented (as usual) as x, the 73 as q(i) and the argument as y, the 73 opportunity missed as z and taken as z(i) and available as q) then surely x+y-z=q and x+q+q(i)=z(i) (naturally reversing the application of the nth power if it is a 37 and not a natural 73 and bearing in mind that fractal curves will appear if this is tried on a complex 73 - 373, 733, etc. and which, whilst pretty, would invaildate the solution). With this in mind and subtracting the post z(i) groan/frustration (also known as the "Look, look!!" post or q+y=0) the answer is still: 73
  5. Just finished 'Penguins Stopped Play' - by Harry Thompson and about to start reading the Jo Nesbo books on OH's recommendation... and in which I am hoping for lots of snow and frozen vistas because It's so.. so... exhaustingly... hot...

Or if they don't ask for him back after 6 weeks do WH get to keep him? And is there any chance of a 'That'll-teach-the-greedy-selfish-Argentinian-swine-a-bit-of-humility Loan' from our friends in the north?

  9. But whenever I see dyslexic written down I still think of bi-planes doing stunts and wing-walking... *cleans goggles*

  13. If this is not a wind-up I have to say that other curry houses do offer balti dishes, but they are way below what a proper Balti House would (should) provide and I would love to be able to order the real thing locally. As far as too many curry houses goes Swadesh has only been open a couple of years (as had The Coriander before it) the Jaflong, what? three? If they are any good they survive. As for all the other cuisine suggestions (Vietnamese, Mexican, Italian, Japanese) I would love to have access to them all but it is only curry that I desire on a regular basis so the more competition/variety the better.

  17. I have a feeling this may not be what you're looking for... http://cdn.crooksandliars.com/files/uploads/2008/12/No-Fox_4c998.jpg ... but give it a shot anyway.

AND they made lots of mistake against USA. If Ireland forwards hold firm, supply quick ball and the backs run them - then they should win no problem.

The team could do with the fire-power and he knows he's loved at Upton Park. *crosses fingers tightly*
  21. Iceland have a good and cheap basic olive oil and big brands (HP, Heinz etc) are often cheaper than Co-op or Sainsburys. First chain to ban GM foods and artificial colourants in fresh eggs. They DO have a lot of cheap stuff that is cack but you don't have to buy it - The look of the place, well it's the Easyjet of supermarkets but there are so many shops with a 'well-designed' frontage that a bit of brash livens up the place.

This also applies to the supermarket checkout. Don't think of looking for your purse until all the items have been scanned and do not even dream of beginning to pack away your items until you have put your card back in said purse, folded the fucking receipt and put that away in a separate niche and replaced purse in bag. If you can somehow contrive, in the middle of all this, to walk away for a minute or six with a vague mumble about "Ooh, anchovies..." then so much the better. And if you are under 30 please don't think of paying for a sandwich or a coke or a bottle of water with anything other than plastic. Cash!?!? The very idea!

  24. There are 3 or 4 shops in Southampton St, Covent Gdn. (between Piazza and Strand) that sell this kind of thing but they may have followed Jermyn Street's lead and be stocked up on skiing and rock climbing stuff - winter market.
  25. So after all the arguing and 'mind-changing' and accusations, the upshot is that we don't get a bonfire-night event in Dulwich? Anyone know if there are any local organisations planning on having one or is it Crystal Palace/Brockwell Park again? *roll on Imbolc*
