Back when it was still '01' the rest of the number was a group of three then a group of four stretching back to when the group of three numbers in the middle referred to a local exchange (like Mayfair 3232) so the habit of quoting a group of three then four numbers persists leaving whatever comes before it - whether 01. 0171, 0207 etc. - as another group, something we have also adopted with mobile numbers. It's a habit borne out of historical usage rather than hysterical abusage.

Flying Pig for me. I know some think it a bit 'theme-y' but I find it perfect after a trying day - especially early evening before it gets too busy - great selection of beers and proper ciders and some top notch bourbons and tequilas. (Used to be the Draft House but that closed so my ideas of a good pub are probably out of synch with local taste)

If SAF thought Morrison was worth it or needed him and was in a position where he had to make the best of what he had I think he WOULD have persevered with him - also what Otta said. > Plus he has less choice than SAF All the more reason to try and turn a sows ear into a silk purse, Just that BFS's idea of developing Morrison into a man and a player would be to tell him to "Bloody smarten yer ideas up lad, or else! Now let's see if yer can hoof this ball up to the big lad in the middle there."
-
BFS never wanted him - not saying that contributed to him becoming a little swine but it probably didn't help. Don't know what the answer is. If he's guilty then I suspect a suspended sentence, big fine and lots of community service (hopefully with relevance to the crime and the need for people in his privileged position to set an example to young men) and coupled with some anger-management &/or alcohol abuse treatment. The question is, what can you do with lary little gits who think they can do whatever they like and, thanks to the money thrown at them and the fawning of clubs and agents etc., usually can? If we had a good man-manager I'd say keep him and he could turn it around and become something good. We don't. We have a big, stubborn, ignorant, narrow-minded, dinosaur, arsehole of a manager. So he's probably better off gone.

Heard the word "soz" a lot as a childling - was common to use "-z" to shorten a word ending in "-ry" - also worked on names ending in "-ry" (like Terry became Tez). Then I moved south and found out the norm was "Tel". Now, about southern types not knowing what a bacon batch is...

Us Midlanders have always treated Northerners and Southerners with equal suspicion - having been regarded as Southerners by Northerners and Northerners by Southerners. We blame the Welsh.

Dye the whole thing yellow and convince them it was always that way.

Pot au Feu - great dish for big group - easy and cheap(ish). Lots of cheap cuts of meat (and Morteau Sausage - easily obtained as you're in France) and big hearty veg - simple to serve too yet very delicious.
-
It's BFS banking his excuses early - probably crocked him himself. In my newly acquired state of optimism I believe this will force Allardyce to do things differently - maybe play the ball on the ground and use Valencia and Z?rate together to create the Premiership's most prolific striking partnership*. By the way - WTF is Cole still doing there!? *makes note to renew prescription

El Pibe Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > So is the star in the sky there in the past or in > the present? It's in the past because it (the light) takes so long to get here, this means the light is just tardy. If my friend is 5 minutes late for a drink I treat him as though he too is in the past. When he tells a joke I only laugh five minutes after the punchline.

TTTE was never the same after Ringo bowed out - you lost the sex, drugs and rock n roll(ing stock) aspect. Michael Angelis brought a Bleak Bleasdaleian tone to the series but when he left it went down hill (gradient 1:3).

I quite like the beer & octopus strip.

Now THIS is how to do an opening ceremony - fecking hilarious! Bit like the Balamory titles.

How To Murder A Man by Carlo G?bler (novel) - about the Ribbonmen in rural C19th Ireland The Black Hammers by Brian Belton (Non Fiction) - interviews etc. with players from John Charles to present day (LL charity shop so obviously donated by another local Iron ?)

Nope, not gonna rise to it. I am Mr Optimistic this season. Carroll is going to stay fit and score a shed load of goals. Fact.* *Takes medication and lies down.

With reference to Ireland - there were also grass-roots movements pre-Saint Tony, #jewsandarabsrefusetobeenemies appears to be gaining ground: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2702674/Picture-Arab-Jewish-American-couple-kissing-sweeps-internet-mixed-faith-couples-join-call-peace.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490

StraferJack Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > dangerous precedent argument I can totally see > > But the penalty for abusing such a strong course > of action (taking team off) would surely prove too > much for it to be a problem My point was only if there's no corroboration/evidence. We've already had lip readers and conflicting statements with the Terry fiasco - what if a team losing 2-0 got a player to claim such abuse (with no proof) and decide to walk? Forfeit the game? Can't do that or racism could win as he might be telling the truth. Without evidence (and I don't know yet whether there was any or not) it's not a wise act, if there is sufficient evidence then I think Viera was right - must be a zero-tolerance thing.
