  1. What a great (extraordinary) morning. Sun, tea, GB and Blowers in full flow on TMS, a record last wicket partnership, England taking the lead and Jimmy in the 80s - feels like summer.

The sins of the fathers cannot be visited on the sons in this case. They are not clinical and far from efficient (ask Ghana) - they are a bit dicey and risky and loose at the back. They are creative and skillful and occasionally wasteful but always 'up for it', always pressing, always trying something even if it fails. They are a true team rather then a collection of overpaid prima donnas and I would rather they won than any of the last four.
  3. Brazilians who already have final tickets now faced with supporting either their greatest rivals or the team that humiliated their own boys... expect they will ALL be supporting Germany. And expect Germany to win.
  4. So, no real argy-bargy...yet... but no great game either. Oh, and those 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' trailers look like shit.
  5. Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > England probably could have managed a draw with > that Brazil side! Now you're just being ridiculous! Germany were great to watch and their finishing was calm and selfless - so many crosses across the box for tap-ins from positions where an England player would have panicked and lashed to ball at the goalie. I think Argie-Dutchy will be all argy-bargy as both teams resort to type and kick lumps out of each other. Hope I'm wrong and it's a great game but still fancy Germany for the cup - they are a class act and, as Juninho said, we can all learn from them.
  6. They are possibly part of the French invasion and as such are Belles du Nuit, non?
  7. I went for a 3-1 win for Germany... and I thought i was being harsh on Brazil. Germany are fulfilling the expectation of a few years back - great to watch.

    Google Glass

I expect a rise in Glass-wearing pedestrian accidents as people walk into traffic whilst watching kittens play trumpets and mouthing the word 'Lol' into their voice-recognition handy-mic. Only a rise in white-painted Google-Glas replicas tied to railings and lampposts at the sites will raise awareness of this side effect.
  9. These are the same pundits who spent much of the game praising Robben... for playing without cheating. That's how players are SUPPOSED to play you numpties.
  10. Nerve shreddingly good entertainment - win or lose Bravo Costa Rica

  12. Been exchanging views with some friends in USA on world cup - one or two are fans anyway (and gooners to-boot, sadly) but those new-to-it who have been persuaded to watch this one are constantly remarking on how crappy it is watching people falling over and feigning injury and that it confirmed their prejudices that soccer was a non-sport. It didn't matter that the comparisons to hockey and NFL players meant some steroid-crazed muscle-mountains clobbering each other and retiring in their 20s with shattered bodies - when you see the slo-mo facial contortions (not to mention sometimes being able to hear the shrill screams) of players beginning their descent it's enough to turn off any potential new fans. Having said all that - when you see what Brazil get away with you can understand some opposition teams saying - "If they so much as breathe on you, go down... and i want to see agony etched on your face and hear a blood curdling scream" -
  13. The commentator on the Tour de France - stop saying how fecking AMAZING the crowds are, how AMAZING Yorkshire is, how great Britain is at supporting sporting events, how impressive Yorkshire is and how AMAZING the fecking bluddy crowds are!! Seriously. If you've got nowt else to say - shut up! ETA - later - Having said that - a few minutes ago waxing lyrical on the scenery "...the bridge over the River Wensleydale..." what a sequel that would have made...
  14. It's gone too far now. Let it go. Then you'll always have a wonderful "what might have been" fantasy to look back on instead of living in a "Why did i ever say 'hello'...?" reality when she turns out to have feet of clay.
  15. What have the French been playing at? They deserved to lose. Pathetique.

  17. Bit further out but Primark on Rye Lane (if you want cheap rather than leather) and there's a stall in the arcade that connects Rye Lane to Morrison's (leather).
  18. It's a definite candidate - another great 0-0 after 90 minutes Typical Americans - like a bleedin' Rocky film - kept coming back, good stuff.

  20. viva Cost Rica - nerveless
  21. Robben has apologised for diving - but for an earlier shout - not for the penalty. What a card. pens - CR or Greece?
  22. Columbia are the new Chile.

  24. What a good game - win or lose Chile are great to watch - had worried they might fold under the pressure.
