  1. When the petals drop off leave the seed-containing stems alone as they will continue to grow and swell, when they are starting to dry out you can slit them open for lots of seeds.
  2. I think that's a Californian Poppy Lady D. They tend to flower in the day and wrap up at night.
  3. Sad thing is I'm still up - less sad is this -
  4. Yes I know i shouldn't be posting this late but it's friday and i have just discovered tequilla martinis - here's 2 more versions of a song I loved back in the early 80s (local-ish band who never got any recognition) and I prefer the later, slightly more up-tempo and brassier version with the realistics - original - with the realistics
  5. Like both but prefer the earlier one. Weird thing about versions - yes there are lots of them and that's as it should be but I thought I was going nuts seeing Susan Cadogan on one of those retrospective TOTP shows as the song was way faster than I remembered it - but this just shows there were two speeds back when the BBC were afraid of anything that wasn't upbeat enough: Trojan and TOTP.
  6. Have been in this position (twice) and unless you can show that something the landlord should have done has been left undone (unlikely) it is your responsibility. I can only advise you keep trapping and block up holes that central heating pipes come through or any other gaps however small - mice are more easily deterred than rats and one little hole (often alongside pipes of some kind) could be the source of all the grief.
  7. Hoddle begging Gerrard not to retire - and saying he'd have used Terry and saying he wouldn't rule out managing England again - what a plank.
  8. Costa Rica will probably top group on g/d so will rest a few and put out a second string team against England - So we're in with a chance!!
  9. No letter here yet. Can't see what Dr Sarma can say to HH bearing in mind what NHS England have said.
  10. I did say Italy weren't that good. Costa Rica look good and with players like Campbell who can't even get a game at Arsenal - THAT'S how you set up to play with a team devoid of world class players Roy.
  11. Alan Medic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Italy aren't careful > they could go out themselves. I hope so - the way Balotelli is throwing himself to the ground - regardless of what it means for England - Go Costa Rica!
  12. Italy will beat Costa Rica and Uruguay will beat Italy which will mean Costa Rica have to beat England then it's all down to g/d. ETA: For everyone but England that is)
  13. Aggers delighted that only TMS realised Broad had a hat-trick - none of the players knew, scoreboard and tv didn't know. Swann like a little kid on his debut in the box (should still be bowling)

An Italy win tonight will make the > following round very interesting and not at all > hopeless. Quite right - let's consider the plus points... 1. We can all go back to enjoying the football instead of fretting about England's prospects. 2. Costa Rica v Italy should be a good game. 3. Spain were out before England. 4. Lampard never played.
  16. Alan Medic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Good to see no one is blaming the manager yet. True, but then I would have thought the blame was obvious. When you have a team that lacks world class players you need strategy and guile and England seemed short in both - that was Hodgson's responsibility. Too vague and undisciplined at the back and too sloppy and wayward at the front - like they were making it up as they went along. Also the team selection to start. Not being able to see the malaise Gerrard suffered from in an England shirt is a management error and letting him give that depressing team 'rally' was a massive mistake - also Lallana and Lambert and Barkley should have played from the start. This team reflects Hodgson perfectly and acheived as much as it is able to under him.
  17. Much as expected if we're honest about it. Lack of... well everything. No one player to blame - just not up to it really.
  18. If he's injured then he's injured but I'd love to see Ox-C along with ALL the newer caps run at the Uruguayans - could be sensational. They can do the same without him - be positive and let Spain be the lesson for cautious keep-ball. Suarez is still unfit - attack, attack, attack-attack-attack.

If friends/family are on holiday now I get FB photos of their trip in near-real time and can't say I've had a postcard in years - though they were once a regular, if seasonal, part of my postal delivery. Room marked with an x? - no , here's a video of it the moment we arrived. Oh, and Hrvatska!
  21. Hmm, although fox hunting with hounds in this country is still allowed as long as you shoot the feckers dead when they've been flushed - so we're not entirely cuddly. Maybe bullfighting where, after a bit of cape work, the bull was shot would suit? It's okay to like Barcelona, btw, they've banned bullfighting. And they're in Spain.
  22. I had rabo del toro once in Ronda after the Goyescas - loved it. Didn't see any bullfighting though - tickets were horrendously expensive! Seriously AqM have a word - there is a huge anti-bullfighting movement in Spain and judging a whole country in this way and who shall 'scape whipping, eh?
  23. Your fault EP - your kiss of death > my kiss of death
  24. 2nd half didn't really live up to 1st but I love the way Chile play. Pressure, never let it go, take them on etc. All the things England should have their young players trying. Spain were poor but Chile look good.
  25. Quite enjoying Danny Mills in this one - reminds me of Big Ron on a good day. Great Chilean goal - second half should be a barnstormer with Spain throwing everything at it. First real crux game of the cup.
