    Men in shorts

malumbu Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Yet another meaty thread ladies and gets. Aaah, you're from Liverpool. Personally shorts are fine out of doors but as little bare flesh on display as possible once inside please- no matter how decorative and fragrant the owner believes it to be. And no one wants to hear or see a naked thigh unsticking itself from an office chair.
  4. Hope it will lead to the other trees in that stretch being checked for good health.
  5. Police and tree surgeons dealing
  6. Falling timber seems to be following me around - a large branch has split from the trunk of a plane tree and fallen (about 30 mins or so ago) onto the pavement outside the old Curry Cabin - tried to contact relevant Southwark dept but nothing seems to be open unless someone has another number. Don't think the rest of the tree is dangerous but I'm no wood doctor.
  7. Open the fridge. Buy two more fridges and open them too. Sit in an arc of open fridges and bask.* *Some carping folk will say this just increases global warming but as it gets hotter you just buy more fridges boosting industry and staying cool at the same time (you can always give away your pets/children to offset your growing carbon footprint)

And in the far flung future when civilizations had risen and fallen and whole generations had forgotten why, still the claims were made... "Hundred!" they cried! God loves staying power doc.
  9. Perfect ED arrival - A Charity Boutique! It's where I shall head for all my "designer, high-end high street and vintage one-off finds".

Go on, you can tell us, I won't go, promise - you'd hate it if i did - I'm so inauthentic it's not true. ETA: I love the Nell Gwynn when I'm in town - scruffy, small and full of poseurs - it's fab.

Makes one feel for the poor sods who, googling the same, are finding 'EDF Gold'...

This has definitely become a major ED weekend activity... (Pointing at artisan cheese-shop/deli/pop-up/market-stall) "Yes, it's become our fave (they never use it) and the bread's a little expensive (they got caught with a loaf of Allinson's) but their cheese is to die for (Dad-in-law is a Brie bore)..."
  16. When I checked it out I could see that the tree had fallen because the ground around the roots was very wet so it had uprooted itself and fallen (possibly because roots had died and rotted) rather than the trunk breaking because it was rotten - guessing that the weight of the upper part of the tree caused it to topple as the anchorage was no longer sufficient to hold it. The crashing and cracking was as it fell between other trees.
  17. Leak? I believe it rather to be the site of the long lost legendary Peckham Spring...
  18. Yes it does - a bloody great crack followed by a crash. I saw it fall at about 4.45 today (Mon 16th Apr) nr Rosebury Gate. A big old tree, it has fallen across the dog walking path and is 'resting' at an angle of about 35 degrees blocking the path - but it could crash down to the horizontal at any time - maybe held up by surrounding tree branches or its own branches resting on the ground. I reported it to park attendants but if you're going to walk your dogs nr there or let your kids off the leash I'd steer clear as it's possibly unstable and could still be dangerous.

  20. There is a problem when businesses use the whole of the area belonging to the business as an outdoor seating area (various bars & cafes) and STILL put an A board outside this area. That's taking the piss a little.
