  1. Hi Does anyone know of a reliable gas safe engineer that can install a combo boiler in the next couple of days in my property in Crystal Palace?
  2. Online 'forum'... the clue is in the title. The response to this and the daily mail report has only confirmed to me that there is no excuse at all for such rudeness. The charity won't suffer as I will still donate to Mind, but not to that particular shop.
  3. I regularly donate to charity and always try to donate to mental health charities as much as possible, however I have never encountered such rude staff as the staff at East Dulwich Mind charity shop. I don't appear to be the only person that has encountered the hostile reception from the staff there as many of my friends in the area have started donating elsewhere for that reason. It seems such a shame that the charity should suffer because of this but I must admit, I now feel the same and will start donating to alternative charity shops in the area.
  4. Hi I have an old 1960s record player that needs a bit of work. Can anyone give me any recommendations for someone that could repair it for me? Thanks :-)
  5. I need a reliable and trustworthy handyman that I can call upon to carry out odd jobs on my rental property in Crystal Palace. Any recommendations would be much appreciated. Thanks Libby
  6. I've used Ade from A&J Plumbing and Heating a few times now for various jobs. He's got me out of a few scrapes following shoddy work carried out by Daniel at ED Plumbing and Heating. He is knowledgeable, reliable and very trust worth..so much so that I was more then comfortable to leave him keys to let himself in to my flat when I wasn't there and complete the job. I would highly recommend Ade to anyone who is looking for someone they can trust.
  7. I would strongly advise anyone NOT to use Dulwich Plumbing and Heating. Daniel comes across as a nice guy but he is inexperienced, uses cheap short cuts and is extremely pushy in getting people to write recommendations on this forum, which is why he has so many. His poor workmanship resulted in 2 large leaks through my newly plastered dining room ceiling. The first time it happened, he was actually at the property and didn't have the courtesy to let me know or apologies. I just came home from work and saw the huge damp patch on the ceiling. He also left half eaten burgers and chips on the floor for me to clear up as well as black radiator water sprayed all over my newly wallpapered walls (see photo) I have had to spend at least an additional ?500 in putting right the mess he made of my property and the plumbers that did the work asked me whether he was actually qualified because his work was of such a poor standard. The whole job was a disaster from start to finish and I still feel angry to think that I payed him what I did after constant pestering from him.
  8. sedm - I totally sympathise with your message (2nd Jan). I had a very similar experience with Daniel and am kicking myself for paying him anything at all. I revised my initial message posted on the 16th December, which was only posted due to him pestering me. He caused me so much stress and obviously wasn't up to the job at all. He also cancelled a number of times and I have no doubt he'd accepted other jobs and was trying to juggle them all. I have been considering legal action but as it was all paid in cash and no contract I'm unsure on where we stand. Private message me if you have looked in to this as there seems to be a number of people on here now that may be interested in seeking legal advice. I'm definitely expecting to see him on Rogue Traders one day.
  9. Hi I'd recommend Ady 07961981944. I contacted him after I had unfortunately followed a recommendation on here for Daniel (East Dulwich Plumbing). He'd left my property in a really mess with leaks all over the place. It was a breath of fresh air dealing with Ady as he is much more experienced and showed far more respect for my property. I was more then happy to give him a key and leave him to it. Another result of Daniels shoddy work came to light last Sunday and thankfully, despite it being a Sunday afternoon, Ady came straight out to shut off the hot water and came back the next day to repair the leak...all free of charge!! Give him a call!
  10. Hi I don't have any recommendations but just wanted to have my pennies worth. My father is an Optician in North Wales and was on the local health board, he therefore had to carry out regular inspections of Optical practices. I never forget him telling me how he visited a Specsavers branch and on entering the staff room saw a white board with targets on how many glasses they had to sell that day. Their offer of 2 pairs for the price of one is also a complete con as the prices are usually double what the independent opticians charge. I have stepped foot in specsavers once and never again. The staff were unexpereinced and pushy as they obviously hadn't met their target sales and wanted to try and sell me glasses even though i didn't need them. So, my advice is... Don't go to Specsavers at all if you expect good service.
  11. I'm currently renovating a house in Crystal Palace and need a tiler urgently. Does anyone have any recommendations?
  12. Wanted - Man with a van to help me dispose of builders rubble during my house renovation. Waste includes wall tiles, wall paper, carpet, timber, garden waste, plasterboard, bathroom suite etc..
  13. I am retracting my original recommendation and would strongly recommend anyone to avoid using Daniel to carry out any plumbing work in their property. I decided to use Daniel after seeing so many recommendations for him on the forum. After using him for a minor repair initially, I soon realised why he has so many recommendations. As well as mentioning it a number of times in person he also continued to pressure me by texting 4 times that evening until I had updated the forum. Despite this I was looking for someone I could use for my future property developments company and didn't want to let this put me off using him again so I appointed him to replace my rads and install my bathroom...A pretty standard job for any experienced plumber. On calling him to find out why he was an hour late to meet me at the property on the first day, not only did he not apologies for causing me to be late for work but he had the cheek to start questioning when he'll get paid. Once again, I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. Daniel was always in a rush and never concentrates fully on the job at hand and after the first day he disappeared for the rest of the week with no explanation. On visiting the property that evening, I was appalled with the mess he had left my house in. Half eaten burger and chips thrown on the floor, a leak through my newly plastered kitchen ceiling (which he failed to inform me about despite speaking to him on a number of occasions throughout the day), Black radiator fluid all over the floor and up the walls and floorboards torn up and left un-salvageable (see photos). He also left me with no running water or central heating and was un-contactable for approximately 3 days. I decided the easiest option was to pay him for what he'd done so far and get someone else to finish the job properly. I have since had 3 leaks from the radiators and 3 days before my tenants are to move in I have had another leak through my kitchen ceiling which has obviously caused staining and has damaged the electrics. On top of paying Daniel far more then he deserved just to stop the text messages and calls pestering for payment, I have also had to spend an extra ?500 to put right the damage that he caused. Every tradesman that has inspected his work have asked me the same question..'are you sure he is actually a plumber?'. So basically, if you want someone that is experienced, qualified, trustworthy, considerate and that respects your property...don't use Dulwich Plumbing and heating.
