  1. Hi, I am looking for recommendations for a face painter for my daughter?s party on 14 January. Please let me know if you know someone. Cheers!
  2. Our German au pair has also just started and would love to join a meet-up. Please PM me too. Thanks!
  3. We love F&B colours and finishes and have it all over the house. `We use modern emulsion in high traffic areas as it's washable.
  4. I am pretty sure that Lewisham Community Sports offer that week. They usually rent out space at Prendergast Hilly Fields. They have different activities, bouncy castle, xbox, swimming, park, i believe crafts as well. I wouldn't say they are the best provider out there but I think they are one of the few providers for that particular week. I would give them a ring to enquire.
  5. Herne Hill is not really ideal for getting to Canary Wharf, neither is ED. Commutingwise you would be better off on the Overground.
  6. Never heard of such a thing. My daughter's nursery always supports her going to the loo and she is never dirty. Where did you hear this? Also didn't happen when my son went to nursery (different one).
  7. We used harradines to move locally and were very happy
  8. Biff in Dulwich Village have a good selection of school shoes.
  9. Upstate New York is beautiful. We had a great time at the Finger lakes.
  10. Went to a party there once and thought it was brilliant. It's great to have the enclosed garden that it can open up to. Also great to be next to the amazing playground.
  11. There is a practice with German doctors including s paediatrician in Richmond. Their website http://aerztehauslondon.co.uk/Doctors-and-Staff.html only seems to be in German though. I haven't been because I am usually ok with our GP practice and not really keen on the journey but friends of mine have been and recommended them.
  12. Hi, just trying to put together a list of local colleges to look at for our au pair to attend. Not necessarily looking for English language courses but also general interest courses. Can people recommend somewhere? We are in SE23 and ideally the au pair should be able to reach the college by bus. I managed to find colleges online but I am struggling to work out fees and timings. Would be useful to know where others go. Many thanks
  13. We went to belair house and they gave us a private room upstairs. I was able to put in my own flower decorations and we used a cloakroom for my son's nap. Can recommend. This was over four years ago though.
  14. Thank you. Will check it out!
  15. We still have a week left in August that we need to find childcare for my 5 year old son. He is already down for Supercamps for one week of the summer holidays but I just wanted to find out which holiday clubs in the area other families have chosen. Can you recommend something? Has anyone already done supercamps at St Dunstans? Did your child enjoy it? We might just sign him up for another week but it would be good to see if there are any other interesting options. Cheers
  16. Speak to Make a Wish Parties and ask for David. He just did my son's party and had 15 5 year olds entertained within seconds! He was so good that towards the end of the party all the parents were dancing too!
  17. I would start the job and see if you like it before making huge upheavals like moving house, changing schools etc. I once started a new job for which I had to move abroad (pre children) and it didn't work out. I didn't like the job, manager was horrible, it was just not right. I don't want to come across all negative but these things do happen sometimes.
  18. When do you fit reading in on a normal day? I work four days a week, leave the house at 7:30 and pick up my children at 6. Then i have to give them a light supper and then get them ready for bed. I am really struggling to fit the reading in. How do other families do it?
  19. If you wanted to be close to both Dalmain and Stillness you could try some of the roads south of the high street in Honor Oak. Lots of victorian houses. This is also in the catchment area of the Jenner Health Centre. I know of a family from Gabriel Street whose child is at Stillness, but keep in mind that catchment areas change every year (not always necessarily shrinking, but you never know). Not sure about Haberdasher's. I think their catchment area is very tight, but we are still ways off so who knows. Another good girls state school is Prendergast Hilly Fields.
  20. I agree about trying slings at the sling library. (Saying that I never managed to go there during my mat leave as their opening times were slightly awkward..) But I fared very well with a Connecta carrier. It folds down really small in my bag so it's ideal when travelling. It's also quite easy to put on and take off. And comes in lovely designs :-)
  21. We really like the puky bikes. Have, I believe, the 12 inch one but there is also a smaller size available. They are very sturdy and stable. Not cheap, but if you're on a budget you could always look for one second hand.
  22. My son is doing kids rugby with try time in belair park. They are brilliant and he really enjoys it. There are some girls there too.
  23. A toddler in Germany died today after contracting measles. Apparently he wasn't vaccinated.
  24. Exactly as catgirl says. In this house Lego sets get made once. Then played with, then dismantled and thrown in with other Lego, then reconstructed led by my son' sown imagination. I thought this is the point of Lego? We bought him 3 kg of Lego on ebay, great to get started with!
  25. Sorry, just realised someone already mentioned it. I would keep trying!
