  1. Our friends’ Landrover Discovery was stolen last night from West Dulwich. Apparently the thieves will leave it locally to check it doesn’t have a tracker before finally taking it. Please keep an eye out for them and fingers crossed they get it back. It’s for transporting three kids and all their gear.
  2. Herne Hill Velodrome? Maybe trampolining or football party at JAGS? If you just need a hall, then St Barnabas in Dulwich Village or Trevor Bailey on the South Circular or the Whippersnappers room next to Brockwell Lido. Good luck!
  3. Herne Hill Velodrome has Learn to Ride sessions for 6+. Details can be found here: http://www.hernehillvelodrome.com/kids/ Their other sessions are great, so I expect the Learn to Ride ones are just as useful. Good luck!
  4. Our 5 year old would be interested in joining a group. Count us in!
  5. Hello, My husband is there at the DKH Sainsbury's and he says there's no sign of a mobile recycling centre. Please advise. Thanks!
  6. Not sure if this is too far away, but we go to swimming lessons at DPL. Lessons are between 6:30-8:30pm. http://www.superkidsswimmingschool.co.uk/Venues/Dulwich-Prep-London
  7. Have you tried The Shala in West Dulwich/Norwood, they have 9:30am yoga classes everyday.
  8. Not sure if they're the cheapest, but Callow on Melbourne Grove is really good and definitely worth the trek from Lordship Lane.
  9. Our 4 year old goes to these classes and there are 3 year olds in his session: http://www.kmptennisacademy.co.uk/mini_tennis.html
  10. Check The Shala. I think there may be a class at The Shala on Friday evening. There are definitely classes on the 31st and New Year's Day.
  11. If your son likes Star Wars and you'd like him to practise his spelling/maths/etc, there are these Star Wars workbooks that our 4.5 year old son seem to enjoy. It's especially more fun when he's got a Star Wars pencil in hand. Might serve as entertainment during your travels. When we travel, I usually bring along a card game like UNO or a deck of playing cards, & a mini Etch-a-Sketch. What about Jenga for a game that you can all play and also helps with motor skills?

If you're going to Peter Luger, don't forget to bring cash! And if it's too much of a trek, Keen's Steakhouse on 36th is quite nice too.
  13. Have you taking magnesium? Either in tablet form, bath salts, or sprays? You could also get referred by your GP to the acupuncture clinic in Kennington: http://www.guysandstthomas.nhs.uk/our-services/community-acupuncture-clinic/overview.aspx Migraines are awful. Hope you get some relief soon!
  14. What a sweet and thoughtful idea! Tuna and Asian dressing sounds yummy! Are you going to serve it with rice? Noodles? For the salsa, maybe go easy on the raw onions...in case the conversation gets a bit more intimate later?! ;) For future meals, why not recreate a previously enjoyable meal? Something that you had while on honeymoon? Or when you went on holiday? I recently made a Korean bibimbap...probably not authentic, but it got us talking about when we almost froze to death in Seoul one Christmas.
  15. There's a really good and not scary Pilates class on Monday mornings at The Shala in West Dulwich. It's worth the trek.
  16. I trusted ours with Davies & Vaughan on Upland Rd. Great couple!
  17. One winter afternoon when I needed to escape it all, I checked into a Greenwich hotel, booked myself in for a massage at the wellness centre nearby, went to the movies armed with chocolate and crisps. Then the next morning, enjoyed a coffee in a luxuriously clean bathrobe before I headed out for a wander round Greenwich markets and read an entire book in the library. After that, I was ready to face the world again. Greenwich was a nice change of scenery and I knew I wouldn't run into anyone we know. :)
  18. We keep frozen spinach on hand for adding into dal, curries, omelette, etc. Tinned chickpeas for adding into roasted vegetables, tinned cannelloni beans for stews, black beans for a Mexcian style salad with corn, tomatoes, coriander and avocados. Oh and avocados, beets, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds for topping salads.
  19. We have a cargo bike but it's not a Christiania. If you're planning on loading it up, I'd recommend getting the electric assist. Especially if you're going up hills a lot. London Green Cycles has a wide range of cargo bikes you can try out. You can see if you prefer the two wheeled vs three. Locally, London Recumbents in Dulwich Park and Balfe's Bikes has the Nihola cargo bike for you to test ride. Feel free to PM if you have further questions.
  20. Gail's has them on Fridays. Plain and an almond one.
  21. My husband has been going to see Graham at brokenyogi.com ... what turned out to be a sore shoulder was diagnosed as a slow flowing splenic artery. His shoulder has since gotten better after a few visits. Feel free to PM for more details.
  22. We went to Barcelona with the grandparents 2 years ago and stayed at Ayre Hotel Capse. We chose it because they had adjoining hotel rooms. We find the adjoining rooms offered more privacy than a suite. Not sure if that's what you're looking for. The hotel is on a quiet street, away from the crowds, but we (even the grandparents) were still able to walk everywhere we wanted to go.
  23. You didn't say how old your kids are. I think there are more options for kids 7+. For our 3 year old, we opened accounts with banks nearest us, so we can physically go into the branches to make deposits. Currently, Barclays offers 1.5% and Lloyds offers 2.25%. I'm sure there are better rates for irregular deposits, but that's where we've opened accounts for him. Would actually love to hear more about where else people are banking for their kids, cuz the rates are pretty dismal.
  24. When we went last summer, we booked a place via AirBnb in Alftanes (where the president lives). We opted not to have a car, so just took the bus into Reykjavik. All the bus drivers speak English, so it's quite easy to get around. If you'd like to venture further afield, you could try using these guys: http://www.gtice.is Here was our list of recommendations from our Icelandic friends and our Airbnb hosts... Places to see: 1. Perlan (also serves high-end dinner) 2. Laugavegur (shopping street) 3. Skolavordustigur (another shopping street) 4. Top of Skolavordustigur is the biggest church in Iceland (great views of city & bits of water) 5. Grandi (by the harbour) Places to eat: 1. Glo (on Laugavegur, for organic lunch) 2. Svarta Kaffi (also on Laugavegur for soups and coffee) 3. Matur og drykkur for lunch by Grandi (at Grandagardur 12) 4. Iceland Valdis for ice cream (at Grandagardur 2) 5. Baejarins Bestu for Icelandic hot dogs (Tryggvagata 1) In our research, we also thought about staying here: http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g7313926-d1983409-Reviews-Privileged_B_B-Alftanes_Reykjavik_Capital_Region.html but opted not to as we were traveling with a 3 year old and didn't want to disturb the other guests. Have a great time!
  25. Why not try The Shala? Very easy to get to from West Dulwich & Herne Hill. Fabulous teachers and a serene studio space.
