  1. I can't help you but am also looking for recommendations as to which agents to use to sell. I was surprised at how little the usually very fruitful search for anything on the EDF revealed. Is this a sign of the times I wonder. No Flies seems highly rated from what I did find but little else.
  2. Thanks very much for the feedback on Judith Kerr. It's very useful and sounds like a great school.
  3. Gosh. I'm new to the whole primary school thing as my kids are only now approaching school age, but I'm shocked a head would be put or go on leave from one set of KS2 scores which don't seem awful. Does that really happen or is there more to it?! When I initally read this post it didn't affect my putting Dog Kennel down as one of our top choices but if the departure of the head is due to SATS that does make me think twice.
  4. I'm thinking of putting this down as one of my 6 schools on the primary application. I didn't actually get to see it unfortunately. I would appreciate any feedback from parents on their experiences. Thanks
  5. I can't help you with feedback as I'm in the same position of really wanting to know how parents find it. It looked like it had potential from a visit I did but I'm finding it a little tricky to actually put it down as one of my choices without really knowing what it's like. So I'm adding my voice as another request for forumites in the know to get in touch pls.
  6. That's great Renata thanks. I've get a message from the Southwark Parent Partnership that this will likely be February time for this round of applications. Ie not before the submission deadline which is a shame.
  7. Hi ., I'd love to know when it's announced which primary schools will be bulging for Sept 2014. Does anyone know? In previous years, is it before the deadline for applications is due in January? I can imagine it would impact which 6 schools you apply for. Thanks a lot
  8. James That's great thanks. Pls could you decode your last sentence for me though? A little cryptic! Thanks a lot
  9. James: I'd like to go back to the proposed Harris primary scheduled to open for Sept 2014 - will there be further meetings for interested parents to attend to hear more about the school? It would be very helpful to know as the primary school application season has opened now. Thanks
  10. We were having problems about a week ago but it seems to have cleared up now. Still on the subject of BT but its TV service: does anyone have reception problems? It's really odd but for several months we either have problems with all BBC channels and then it'll switch to all ITV and Channel 4 channels. I rang BT up and they said it must be an aerial problem but we don't understand how it can group the channels together and affect either one set or the other. Any advice greatly appreciated.
  11. Does anyone know of any One O'Clock Clubs or other children's centres that have one in the area pls? Thanks
  12. It looks like everything on EDTots is term time only and we need something to do with our 2 year olds. Any suggestions much appreciated thanks.
  13. I very nearly fell for this scam a year ago when we'd just moved in. As he made a reference to the previous owner of the house being a doctor - which was true - I thought he must be bona fide. I'm still waiting for him to clean my windows a year on but fortunately didn't pre-pay. The nerve of the guy - I'd love to see a picture of him on here.
  14. I never found anything local but if you google Medela you can ring them direct. They're very helpful, priced the same as Amazon but their delivery was the next day when I needed it.
  15. Hi AZH I think there's a playgroup at the Goose Green Centre on Thursday mornings. I've not been but I've heard it's good - although this may be for very little ones. Tumbletots is great for 2 year olds. We moved here a year ago - I remember well the feeling of starting over in a new area. It is a great area though and brilliant for families. I've got 2 year old twins and would be happy to meet for a coffee/walk round the park so the kids could play together and I could tell you what we've found locally that we like. Let me know if this is of interest.
  16. StephG - you must be very upset and no cat deserves an end like that. davidh - what is so wrong with dogs always being on the lead on the street? Maybe I'm naive but if that was a clear rule then at least the police could do something about owners who didn't keep their dogs on a lead and if more dogs were on a lead then there would be less occasion for attacks. Isn't it also in the dog's own interest to be on the lead on the street with traffic etc?
  17. We did this yesterday and I would like to donate something every week. Does anyone have contact details for the Foodbank? It would be brilliant if they could set up a donation box at Sainsburys so people could drop something in regularly if they so choose.
  18. I just saw this on Peckham Rye. It looks fab but does anyone know if a 2 year old is up to concentrating and sitting still for it? thanks
  19. We're having to pay for 3 sessions per child per week even though the first 2 weeks are a settling in period and they only want us to go for 1 session a week. Ie we're paying for 2 sessions per child per week we don't get to go to so it sounds like you've got it good.
  20. We went to Hall Place today. The house and gardens are really lovely and we had a good time with not too long a drive to get there. The exhibition was rather disappointing for us with 2 x 2 year olds and so perhaps not great for this age. Several of the spinning and other exhibits had broken as they're 4 months into the exhibition and as it's very interactive in nature, it's been manhandled by a multitude of children. It looked great for much older kids though.
  21. The Migraine Trust is also very useful and have lots of information available.
  22. I've had them for years and they're beasts. I sympathise with you completely. In my experience some doctors are great at helping and others views migraines as little more than bad headaches. It is really worth pursuing the matter with your doctor as everything that has ever worked for me has needed a prescription. Following on from what the others said, I take 2 x domperidone (the anti-nausea tablets), 2 x aspirin & washed down with a sugary fizzy drink. This is what my doctor prescribes and I finds works most of the time. I like it as it's a relatively soft painkiller dose as well unlike things like Migraleve which stopped working for me. Different things definitely seem to work for different people and what works for me then stops moving and I move onto the next treatment. If your migraines get really regular your doctor might put you on a daily dose of anti-depressant or beta-blocker. I'm on the latter and it controls it pretty well with taking the occasional concoction listed above when I get an attack coming on. Jessie - I asked my doctor to refer me to King's and she said the head dept was rubbish and wouldn't refer me. I was pretty dissatisfied with this response and am in the process of finding another doctor. I imagine King's is the place if you suffer badly? Have you found it helpful?
  23. I've got twins and one has a flat head. I so wish I had noticed before the doctor pointed it out at the 6 week check up as the damage can be done very early on apparently. Her head was quite bad by the time it was pointed out to us and we couldn't get her to sleep in other positions as her neck had tightened up. Try and get your baby to sleep in as many varied positions and as soon as possible. We were referred by our GP and saw various specialists. We felt happy with the NHS treatment we got. She had about 4 developmental checks and they concluded that it is just a cosmetic thing. I would definitely advise you to go to the doctor so you can have similar checks - most likely it is nothing serious and purely due to awkward positioning but there can be another less common cause which is more serious. You'll probably be told her development isn't affected and it will get better with age as we were. I did consider helmets as I don't want her to be bullied when older due to a wonky head. Doctors aren't very pro-helmets if it's just cosmetic and you'd most likely have to go private. In the end we decided to hope they are right and that it gets better with age. She's got hair now so it's not as noticeable and I try not to look down at her head from above as 1 ear is about a mile more forward than the other one! Good luck.
  24. Thank you for posting this. It is really shocking and I hope the poor lady is okay. I often run in Dulwich Park and wouldn't ever think you'd be at risk during the day. I think those who post about these crimes are doing us a favour by warning people and not trying to start debates as often seems to happen on the forum.
  25. we're off bellenden road and have had problems all morning - either not working or very very slow.
