  1. Thanks all, appreciate responses, am going to check again with next door.
  2. Thanks Alice, I think that’s probably the same for us
  3. We've got a Victorian coal hole cellar with a mud floor and after a couple of severe water leaks, I've taken more of an interest in the state of the dampness. I've been running a dehumidifier for the past couple of weeks following a small water pipe leak and whilst most of the floor is now bone dry, there are damp patches along most of the wall adjoining the next house, a large damp patch in the middle of the floor that will not dry even with the dehumidifier right next to it and a patch of wet mud in a small hollow in the middle of the cellar. An expert that lent us industrial drying equipment following a flood from a burst mains pipe said there will always be damp, but I'm a bit concerned in case there is a fundamental problem - any ideas from anyone with similar?
  4. You can buy devices for fixed that spray water when a remote sensor is triggered. Next door use successfully - we used to have but I was the one that mostly got wet and I now enjoy our foxes - agree we should protect our precious wildlife.
  5. I really like this place too, have been several times & got their loyally card. , Healthy, tasty, filling - I’m sure if you ask for more chilli sauce you can get it!
  6. We borrowed a staple gun a few weeks ago - really easy to do, good quality and saved us buying something we don’t really need.
  7. They were hacked ☹️
  8. For anyone interested, we managed to move the bees nest into a cardboard box filled with some rotted wood chips & bits of greenery and then put a large piece of terracotta pot over them. Some at last seem to be bumbling around in it. Fingers crossed! Also saw a greater spotted woodpecker on our fat ball feeder today so a good day for nature in East Dulwich!
  9. Thanks all - really helpful - I'd mooted putting a hole in the new shed floor with my partner, but not sure yet if that will work. See picture of nest now that shed has gone (well disguised..). Might have to do the watering method much as I'd like to keep them
  10. We're taking up an old, rotting shed with a new one being delivered Sunday. It appears that there is a bumble bee nest under the floor - any advice welcome on what to do to help the bees? Thanks
  11. Really good food, hope people support, was quite quiet when we went. Great service too.
  12. Just been for the first time and definitely recommend. Great value, lovely atmosphere & far preferred their pizzas to some others on the lane. Give it a go!
  13. Thanks all, my son is an F1 fan who bought himself a simulator steering wheel & pedal set with birthday, Christmas & odd job money ages ago so the practicalities of driving a manual will be simple for him. I’m after someone that will drill in the safety aspects of driving. I think F1 is a dreadful sport, but he’s 16 so I give him some slack. Given the above, think most sensible to learn on a manual as widest use once passed.
  14. Hi - does anyone have any recommendations for a driving instructor for our soon to be 17 year old son? I saw glowing reviews for Silvano but think he only does automatic cars now. Thanks appreciate don’t need to drive in London etc, but may as well get the test out of the way now.
  15. Any news on what’s taking the White Stuff site?
  16. Our fox left both a shoe and a poo last night but thoughtfully made it easier to clear up..
  17. Our wren (or a female he persuaded to join him) has been spotted again feathering the nest.. fingers crossed for babies!
  18. That’s good to know!
  19. We were very excited to discover a wren has build an impressive nest in a yucca just outside our window, however since finishing we haven’t seen her for several days. Really hoping a cat hasn’t got her (or him..).
  20. NFU (yes, national farmers union!) were the only insurer I could find who would cover us for subsidence for our house (Victorian conversion).
  21. My son’s primary school hatched duck eggs, probably under this scheme around 12 years ago. We were all very upset to hear that 2 of the (5 year old) boys had knocked the incubator over & all eggs smashed. feeling a lot less sad about that now!
  22. Think website is wrong…. Said shut Sat eve but was open when we went.
  23. Ate there Sat early evening for the first time - 2 for one pizza deal - really tasty pizzas, v crispy base. Had the fish platter which was a decent size for 2 & good to share along with a pizza. Great atmosphere, do support, was not busy but very good value with the deal.
  24. Yes, opens 11am now. The one at the station is open until 9pm on Sundays as is smaller.
  25. Hi, has anyone used local restaurants or caterers to provide food for a party? Having one in a few week’s time and considering not doing all cooking myself!
