Dulwich estate properties ?un-mortgageable??!
localyocal replied to localyocal's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Update - after some back and forth between the Dulwich estate and Barclays, the mortgage offer finally got issued. Seems the issue is solved with that lender. A good result. -
Dulwich estate properties ?un-mortgageable??!
localyocal replied to localyocal's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It was for a freehold property on pickwick road and I was told it directly by Barclays. I agree it is surprising - was wondering if others had similar experiences. -
We just got declined for a mortgage in Dulwich Village by Barclays - we passed financially but the house value came back as ?0 and we got told the whole Dulwich Estate has been blacklisted and no mortgages will be granted by Barclays, Santander or Nationwide because of the restrictive terms of the Dulwich Estate rules. The rules says that the estate can take first charge over the property for any amounts owed to the estate and so the banks deem them un-mortgageable. Has anyone else heard of this? Obviously this could have a big impact on sales and the-mortgages in the area. Interested to hear any other experiences.

Goose Green nursery school - any feedback to share?
localyocal replied to localyocal's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks for the feedback - that is very helpful. I think it sounds like a great place - am heading there tomorrow to register my daughter so hope that she manages to get a place! -
Hi I'm thinking about taking my two kids (aged 1 and 3) and my mum away for a last minute week to Europe in August. It needs to be fairly child friendly - i.e.: good pool, maybe a kids club, and some decent kids food. Any recommendations gratefully received! Thanks Katie

I wanted to recommend a handyman called Richard who recently helped me with my huge to do list of things around the house, including gardening, general lawn maintenance, assembling flat pack furniture and a few small carpentry jobs. He was really nice and did a great job, he's also a lawn specialist and used to work on cricket grounds, so our lawn is now looking great. He charged us ?12.50 per hour, which was great value. His mobile number is 07907491026.

We're thinking about a day out tomorrow with our 2.5 year old and 5 month old and are wondering if anyone has ideas/ recommendations? Either into central london or out towards Kent is fine. We are happy to drive / train. My son loves animals so we thought about a farm but could do with a change from all the city farms. Any ideas gratefukly received!

Anyone know if a sleep advisor/trainer?
localyocal replied to minimac's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We used a sleep trainer called Hannah Love at the Yummy Baby Group (easy to find on a Google search). She was fantastic and we will be using her again for our second child due shortly. My son was 5 months old when we started and still waking approx 25 times a night (no joke). We will all loosing our sanity. Hannah doesn't visit in person but advises by phone / email for as long as it takes to solve the issue. She worked with us until our son was going to sleep on his own and staying asleep - we saw a massive improvement within a week or so and then the rest was fine tuning. I honestly can't recommend her enough. Oh, and no controlled crying - just gently teaching reliable sleep cues until he could sleep on his own. 18 months on and we still use the sleep cues and he is still a good sleeper (normally...). -

Hi I've got a 22 month old son and have my daughter due on 13 August this year. Can I join your group? It would be great to meet others of you in the same situation and I have also already met the lovely Anita on our commute! I'm on holiday on 17th June, but definitly around for a meet up on 24th. I'll also PM Cath to get my details added to the what's app group. Katie x x -
Sadly our garden fence got knocked out by the storm on Monday morning and we're looking for someone to fix it for us - 3 fence panels were knocked down and need to be replaced. Any recommendations gratefully received. Thanks!
