The Hob in Forest Hill is good if that's not too far. -
Leaving SE London....what would you miss most about it?
Sloaners replied to katie1997's topic in The Lounge
Buses is a good call. Before I moved to London I thought you had to get on horrid packed, grimy tubes to get anywhere. It turns out that getting the bus from South London across the Thames is like getting a sightseeing tour for a quid or so. And there are LOADS of them. And they run all night (you definitely don't get that in the provinces)! -

I am leaving. Next Wednesday - for Hong Kong :( I am mostly going to miss: Pekham Rye Park (and all the other parks nearby), the EDT, the Cambria, Gowlett pizzas, a selection of Indian eateries, real ale, walking to work, random D-list sleb sightings, Lidl orange juice... ...but mostly I will be missing all the lovely people I've met since moving here 18 months ago. -
Hello all, sorry I had to dash straight off after my last ever session on Saturday - I was meeting a friend at Waterloo. Anyhow I rushed off and ended up getting to the train station - an hour early... I got confused and lost an hour somewhere along the way - you wouldn't think I learned how to tell the time well over 30 years ago! So I could have stayed for a coffee after all. Never mind, I shall make up for it on Thursday with wine insted of caffeine. Gowlett from 7.30 - hope to see you there! Helen

Hello Hilili - as paragon says - look in the What's On Section of the forum... In particular, look for the FREE! Fitness in the Park Saturdays thread. We meet at 10am on Saturdays at the cafe in Peckham Rye, it's a real mix of ages and abilities, we do a circuit of the park but with lots of stopping for different things - it's not non-stop running. It's really good fun and very encouraging. Then we all have a coffee afterwards. And it's completely free - come along!

Thanks all for the card, prezzies, and for a lovely evening (although getting up a 6 this morning wasn't such fun!) -

Female needs motivtion, looking to meet female fitness buddy
Sloaners replied to shazza76's topic in The Lounge
Hi Shazza, don't know if this is helpful, but if your shift pattern allows you should come along to the FREE! Fitness in Peckham Rye Park on a Saturday morning at 10am. Thread here: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?6,535146 It is a lovely friendly group, mostly female, and not terribly scary/hardcore (unless you want to push yourself). A few of them also go out on a Tuesday as well - anyhow I'm sure you might find others in the same position as yourself if you come along. good luck helen -

Hello, I thought that seeing as our old thread has been disappeared I'd try to put together a list of some of the books we've done so far, so anybody interested in coming along can have an flavour of what we've read recently. They include: Kate Atkinson - Human Croquet Ben McIntyre - Agent ZigZag Mark Twain - Huckleberry Finn Tracy Chevalier - Remarkable Creatures Howard Jacobson - The Finkler Question Tony Hawks - Round Ireland with a Fridge Tom Rob Smith - Child 44 Sebastian Fawkes - Birdsong Cormac McCarthy - The Road Sarah Waters - The Little Stranger These are all of the top of my head so I've missed loads no doubt. We are a small friendly group, don't take ourselves terribly seriously and anybody's welcome to come along. Looking forward to tonight, see you later Helen -

Welcome back Chick - hope you had a great time Down Under. I am currently 70% through Birdsong on my shiny new Xmas-present Kindle and enjoying both the book and the new gadget immensely! See you tomorrow. -
Hi Laura, I was in a similar position when I moved here last year, didn't know a soul (although I'm a fair bit older). But ED is a great place to land - if you look at the What's On bit you'll almost certainly find something. (I'm now a regular at Chick's book club and the Fitness in the park Saturday morning thing, which are both peopled by very lovely and welcoming ED folk. Oh, and they're both free..) There also seem to be semi-regular Forum drinks which I've not been to but heard good reports about! Good luck, Helen

Thread of merged messages about incidents outside ED
Sloaners replied to Administrator's topic in The Lounge
I've just walked from London Bridge to Camberwell (3pm-ish). No fires, no riots, not even groups of people hanging around - atmosphere is calm. Didn't see many police. Virtually everything from E&C to Denmark Hill is shut though.
