Orthodontist - private or NHS?
Mutrik replied to Goose Green Grump's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Sounds odd to me too. I have had private treatment as an adult from Dulwich Orthodontic Centre. The treatment took a lot longer than it should have done, mainly due to the orthodontist in my view making mistakes and wasn't listening to me when I explained how my teeth were moving. I would have preferred using the other orthodontists (who do nhs treatment) in the practice but had to stay with The owner as he is the only one doing private treatment for adults apparently. He is only in on Mondays and Tuesday's which gives you as a lot less flexibility. If you get the treatment on NHS I would wait. Just because something is private doesn't need to mean it's better :( alrthough of course waiting times are shorter. -
Car recommendation for 3 under 4yrs
Mutrik replied to Melihoople's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We have a Touran too which housed three kids in car seats and a double buggy. We did have to tAke the the two front wheels off the buggy to fit it in (side by side abc buggy which is pretty big) but we preferred that than buying a bigger car. I did like the S max as well though when we looked at it.. -
Sunday women only boxing Hamlets Health club!
Mutrik replied to missse22's topic in What's on in East Dulwich
I love these classes! Brilliant both for beginners and the more advanced as you get paired up with someone at the same level as you. I started in the summer and my fitness has improved a lot. If you haven't already - give it a try. -
a pink scooter is fine in my view - it's only us adults who define colours as being for girls or boys etc. Don't think your two year old cares what colour it is and as long as he is happy.... So I would say your husband is unreasonable (sorry husband!)

Who can recommend a good book on having twins please?
Mutrik replied to Norfolkvillas's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Twins & Multiple births by dr carol cooper. (The essential parenting guide from pregnancy to adulthood). I found the book useful and quite interesting as it also deals with development and practical considerations when the children grow up. I second joining dulwich twin club. They do pre natal talks at Kings as well for parents expecting multiples. -
We have a touran. It's great as a family car, plenty of space in the boot (when you are not using the other seats). I find ours a bit noisy on the motorway (diesel version) but otherwise very happy with it. All seats fold down so you can transport lots of stuff if ever needed rather than renting a van. We have the basic version which does not have electric windows at the back which is annoying (especially if you have young kids as then they can open them easily.)

Anyone have a recommendation for a 7 seater car?
Mutrik replied to twinsmom's topic in The Family Room Discussion
What about a Volkswagen sharan? They are pretty big, takes lots of luggage etc. we have 3 kids and went for a touran in the end, but did also look at the sharan which is bigger.. -
I think they should be aligned And he should have asked you.

Thank you! -
My sons are at Gumboots and love it. In fact one of them gets upset when it is not 'nursery day' as he enjoys it so much. There have been some changes to staff since s new manager started. However there are also staff who have been there for over 20 yrs. all staff, new and 'old' are great. food served each day is great and outdoor space is currently being overhauled a bit - my boys spends most of the day outside. Overall I would definitely recommend it.

We need to replace our windows and were thinking about aluminium ones (modern looking house rather than Victorian). Does anyone have any recommendations? And are there any other local companies than Bespoke, Walsh and scenic? Thank you.

Depending on your size of window, Bloc blinds may be cheaper. John Lewis sell them or they have own website. -

Fantastic that kings finally get the helipad :) -
One of my boys pooed in his pants for a year after being dry. He also used to hide. If we found him hiding and tried to put him on the toilet he would become very agitated, scream and refuse to poo. And we didn't want to put him back in pull ups as he was dry at night. After a few months we bought a high step for the toilet from ikea so that he could sit more securely on the tolilet with feet firmly on step. Strangely from that point he started to improve. Some months later he suddenly decided he would do all poos on the toilet. (He never wanted to poo on the potty). I think our son just wasn't ready psychologically and we just really had to be patient with him and wait. It was quite frustrating and we had to clean many dirty pants! I remember wondering if he would ever start going I toilet!

Altered Thameslink Service Tomorrow Monday (26th Jan)
Mutrik replied to Renata Hamvas's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The 16.58 from king's Cross going to Sevenoaks was delayed by 30 mins due to person trespassing.. maybe we should start some betting competition as to what excuses there will be for delays tomorrow.
