  1. Wouldn't get your hopes up. I'm sorry, I don't want to be a doom monger, but I just can't imagine that anything built in East Dulwich at the moment is going to be affordable for anyone / any families on average incomes. Hope I'm proved wrong.
  2. Lets not forget how big the Stephen Lawrence case is, and how embarrassing it's been for the police and other authorities over the years. That aspect alone probably sealed their fates. Personally I think they deserve it, cunts. And I'm saddened to see that it was Charlton supporters. Generally a nice family club with not a lot of this type of scum.
  3. I was surprised this wasn't a much bigger news story.
  4. Even in this tiny country, ?20k can go much further in some places than in others. So yes, we may be in the top 1% worldwide, and richer than lots of people living in shacks, but we already knew that (even if we didn't know the figures). Makes very little difference when you're applying for a mortgage and facing the reality of life in London.

Could do that Jah. Or I could sit with a proper pint in a pint glass in a warm pub with abetter view.

Don't get me wrong, I know of a couple of long standing Dulwich pub users that can really put you off your pint, being overly loud and a bit on the intimidating side, and if it was them, you have my sympathy. I think it was just the use of the term "riff raff" that came over a bit wrong.

And what did this riff raff ever do to you? Were they a bit different to you, is that the problem? I hate posts like that! Wonder how they felt about having to share a pub with the likes of you.

Last time I went to an evening match was several years ago now. Miserable winter evening at The Valley watching an awful match between Charton and Bristol City. I couldn't feel my feet, and decided then that I would never go to another floodlit match. I do miss the atmophere of going to regular matches, but what with being as blind as a bat, I really do get a better viewing experience in a warm pub with a pint.
  9. Surely that would be pretty irreponsible in a climate where there is such a shortage of housing, particularly affordable housing. Although I'm still wondering just who these affordable homes will be affordable to.
  10. "affordable" to who though?
  11. It would be easier IF you were wearing a skirt.
  12. It's the lenders that have the problem with too many flats remaining council.

Prawn sandwich anyone? I don't think I'd fancy being there in this cold.
  14. I'm in the process of buying on the borders of Sydenham / Penge East on an estate with 4 or 5 blocks of about 4 or 5 storeys each so 16 - 20 flate per block. Main question the mortgage broker had was how many of the flats in that block are privately owned. Apparently a lot of lenders will want 50-75% privately owned before they'll lend. But then again, we had a small deposit and are using the help to buy scheme so that probably didn't count in our favour. Highly recommend L&C Mortgages for getting you sorted, they've been fantastic so far for us. Our broker was James Hurst, 0191 269 3559 and he's been great.
  15. Keep trying unlurked, it's fun to watch you desperately trying to stir it up with no success.
  16. I used to live on station approach, and there was one stabbing near the station, but that was about 6 years back.
  17. I find it disgusting the number of people with buggies that will just stand there pretending the person in a wheelchair isn't there. But that certainly isn't exclusive to ED.
  18. Like I say, mission ;-)
  19. That's not to say they're not above trying to influence the votes, but I believe the votes are counted correctly.
  20. I dunno, call me naive, but I'd have thought it would be difficult for them to fix the votes after controversy about phone polls a few years ago. I don't think there are any fixes in x factor. The fact Tamara forgot her words probably gained her votes. I think before, she was coming across a bit over confident, that nade her more human.
  21. You do talk some rot.
  22. The Ivy House is a mission from Sydenham! (seriously, this is why I'm yet to visit since it reopened)
  23. There is a Sydenham forum but it's a bit dull. Lots of people from Sydenham still post on here.
  24. I want to like Rough Copy, but have yet to be particularly impressed by a performance. They seem like good lads though. Sam Bailey is good, but if she wins, she'll never be heard of again. Someone like Hannah may stand a chance of going further if she wins...

Nope, But if I had, I certainly wouldn't be coming anywhere near this thread. And I'm pretty good at handling my drink, and when I do reach my limits, I tend to just go to sleep, I don't think "I know, what would be really really f**king funny would be to have a shit on the floor of the loos".
