I understand the argument, I just disagree with it. Plenty of Northern Irish people have died fighting for Britain as well.

Has anyone had placenta capsules made?

Personally I don't understand people eating offal, I find it disgusting. I'm all about the flesh. Wouldn't fancy a rump steak sliced from my fat arse though ;-) Going to the point about other mammals eating their placenta, I thought they did that to get rid if the scent of it so as not to attract predators. Don't think there are many predators in the birth unit at King's. -

You'd think they'd still respect the dead to be honest. I think that was a poor decision.

"The Special One" used to be entertaining and I quite liked him. Now he's pure prick.

Actually yeah, all the above.

Didn't know there was a new one. That's my weekend sorted/ruined.

Our daughter is at St Barts which after initial doubts (about the religion) I'm very pleased so far because they seem to care about the kids. The one thing I wasn't impressed with is the head, but she's retiring at the end of the year.

He may doubt this, but I'd enjoy meeting atticus for a pint and a chat. Think I've unintentionally pissed him off at times, but think he seems a decent person and would like to prove I'm not a bastard. *bob* and Hona would be the others.

I'm male, but I'm pretty sure if I was a woman I'd still need to see some pretty solid proof of MAJOR benefits before I'd eat something that came from inside me. -
adonirum, when were you at St John's? I left in 89, so guess I must have been based upstairs at Epiphany Hall around 84/85. Guess it was because the school was growing, and indeed only a few years later they moved to the bigger site (I think around 94ish). Upstairs was cool, it had a big stage just like the hall downstairs. I remember doing a project on ancient egypt whilst in that class.

Living in South Norwood...what is it like ?
Otta replied to JulieW's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Avoid South Norwood Primary School, my wife taught there for a year and it was enough to make her give up teaching. The kids are defo not the head's top priority. -
I've got five 2-1's this week, including Man U to beat Arsenal. May end up changing that one, but it feels as though United are finding their feet, and they need a big performance at home. That said, Arsenal have been looking so good, it would be no shock result if they took the points.

I think it's only in the last 20 years or so that home cooked food in this country has been interesting. Don't get me wrong, there were skilled cooks. My nan makes amazing pastery, and pies to die for, but a homemade curry? Hell No, sultanas and shredded chicken. Yuck!

Foxy makes a good point about Indian food. Lots of us grew up at a time when food in the UK consisted of veg boiled to buggery, and salads with no dressing. Veg was grim, and to be avoided. If I'd been given a curry or a nice salad with dressing, I'm sure I'd have been much happier to eat them, and less concerned with the meat part of the meal.

I know it well, I went to that school, and we used to walk to Epiphany Hall every day for Assemblies and lunch. And Years 1&2 (in modern language, back then it was just Infants) used to be upstairs. I have lovely memories from when I was in that class. Back then your first year at the school was in the bit of the building on Northcross Road. Then you'd do a year or 2 at Epithany Hall, then you'd move in to "Juniors" (Years 3 - 6) which were in the part of the building down Archdale Road, away from Northcross.

Girls Brigade was held every Thursday > night I think in Honor Oak Baptist Church. She would have gone there approx 84-86 at a guess. I just checked and Eastenders started in 85, and for some reason I clearly remember that she was at GB when it was on. Weird the things you remember.

Sue, I've always like the Ivy House, and am keen to go and see what it's like now, but from where I live in Sydenham it's a mission with no direct transport. Will try and go to see a gig sometime I think.

Lets be honest, there is nothing more to say about The Patch until it opens, so we may as well pass the time chatting.

What you're brought up with depends on what your family can afford to feed you, which is why lots of non western cultures eat less meat. Since the Chinese economy started doing so well, and lots of people out there have a bit more money, meat consumption has shot up. This is very bad for the environment, not least because they ship in massive quantities of soya (to feed livestock) from places like Brazil. I genuinely take my hat of to vegetarians who don't eat meat because it's not sustainable for the environment. I believe that, I just enjoy a good kebab too much to do my bit.

Donations Urgently needed - Hostel at the top of Barry road
Otta replied to SebsC's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I just spoke to Nancy about taking our P&T down there this weekend, and she confirmed that they're only really after buggies / car seats and stuff like that. I got the impression this is really because her manager has told her this is not the role of a nurse, and that she shouldn't be using her time sorting donations, which is why they can't take bags of clothes and stuff. -

The original place is a GBK now isn't it? I rarely get to Greenwich these days, but next time I do, I now know what I'll be having for lunch.
