  1. I was regular Red Stripe man in London, but the move to craft beers had already started (no small part due to Draft House and Flying Pig) But now I can barely touch the stuff (or any other mass-market canned lager) for price and convenience I'll sometimes stick a few stripes in the fridge but they tend to just sit there
  2. good points well made EP spoken like a man who hasn't seen anything but Carslberg/Bud/heneken/Guiness in a month mind you, but no less right for that ;-)
  3. I'd rather they did do that instead of hoovering up limited housing stock to be honest
  4. I've never been partial to a farl Mr Ben. Not that common where I come from either my potatoe of choice for breakfast is a sauteed potato Anyway this is all "what constitutes a good breakfast" rather than where does a good one I've been to all of the ones on the lane and of late Johnnies was the best. The one up by the Plough is proper old school (I remember a pre first ever Barry Barry brekkie there with Carnell) The one next to Franklins was solid but great coffee
  5. "Within a year" sounds overly optimistic to me - any earlier than Q4 2015 would be a job well done That end of the lane should benefit massively from the extra footfall - existing bars, cafes and restaurants should see big uptake, and I'd expect a couple of new places to open up as well. As for the police station development... hmm
  6. i wouldn't mind jailing anyone who uses the phrase "rental yields" I take your point (if not necessarily agree) about buy-to-let being unnatractive at these levels - but rental yields aside you are still getting other people to pay your mortgage. Even at a loss every month you end up with an asset much more valuable than your no-paid-for mortgage
  7. Not true Jah, not true at all I also just realised my phone auto corrected an earlier post. Where it says "immaculately" it should say "innacurately" Doh
  8. I think you might be describing "the internet" rather than twitter
  9. If you already own a property in dulwich, people quoting prices of 400k or whatever don't seem to be a problem. You could sell your gaff and buy somewhere else with the change It's only if you have to actually earn that much the reality hits home
  10. Gowlett doing just fine since a pub opened next door. I wouldn't worry about it and Franco manca Draft house idea is alive and well in flying pig. Beer wise it's doing MUCH better than draft house ever did The location won't work as a pub/bar so a pizza joint will be just fine and dandy Have a pint of team ale, the try a pint if craft ale (joker is my favourite). You'll see the difference. Bluntly and somewhat immaculately, craft ale is like a half way house between lager and ales
  11. If callers to his radio show are anything to go by, most of bakers listeners are well outside london, never mind new cross Twitter is bigger than before so has more idiots. Why are they in your timeline Bbc3 is being taken off air. Relegated to iplayer only it is effectively axed, so no real misreporting there either
  12. although how could it be called BBC 4? ;-) but yeah - what the 1st two posters said
  13. I'm not trying to say you or others should or shouldn't have PD I'm just using it as an example to show that there IS a difference between types of hatred - something you seemed unwilling to accept (to put it mildly) when quids pointed this out
  14. Hush RD - that was all Labour's fault
  15. here is PD just a couple of days ago "The less said about the orcs the better. The pen? Seen them given, Charlie Adam, dirty no good c**t as Spurs know. A draw would have been fair but we didn't do enough to win." Now, is that ?hatred?? Reads like it to me Almost violent hatred But not racist So in PD logic, he DOES agree that not all hatred is the same
  16. I don't think he is quids At least I hope not But then again, who can join the dots in his logic?
  17. "So you think the hatred as referred to by ????'s in general terms is ok on here but not race hate in football? " The hatred referred to by ???? is WHAT YOU DO ALL THE TIME!!!! a lot of people on here and across the country rib other teams and have a "hatred" of rivals. And as expressed by ???? (ie with tongue in cheek) then yes it is ok And of course, no violent and racist hatred is NOT ok? It's not hard to understand is it?
  18. yup The tone then changes from: ?there is no bubble? To: ?ok so there is a bubble but is it necessarily a bad thing? And besides (cough) things are different this time ? the landing will be soft and not messy?
  19. "So theres a difference between racial hatred and hatred yes?" There is a difference between the mock( ?? ) hatred expressed between (say) you and Jah Lush, and the sort of violent racial hatred you talk about elsewhere, yes. Absolutely But you already KNOW this so why are you charging around like a humourless bull in a china shop?
  20. well, we weren't talking about racial hatred were we PD? It was you who crowbarred it into a conversation about rivalry in british football Not saying the problem you clearly want to talk about doesn?t exist (it does) but you might want to raise it as a separate topic instead of barging in on an unrelated one and complaining when people call you on it
  21. "The tired one we looked at was on at ?750k, needed about ?100k of work and had signs of some structural movement. They had just one open day on Saturday and we were told we were the 48th people to visit it that day. Around 12 then made offers on Monday, highest of which was in excess of ?900k." yep - this is totally normal behaviour, definitely not a sign of a bubble about to burst messily
  22. I saw someone today describe the current scramble re London property as similar to the zombies assailing the wall in World War Z https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CC8QtwIwAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DbdXsrL2zSWU&ei=SykXU7bQIYWthQee74DgBw&usg=AFQjCNEzdy7BBRYXH1W5VBsW-yPfQ5fT4g aye...
  23. not biting anymore
  24. " I can remember a time when people used to walk everywhere and not get on buses clogging up our busy roads. " but not you eh - it's important OTHER people walk, to allow the roads space for people like you eh? you in fishing mood today?
  25. recent trends = buses?
