The price of toddler classes in Dulwich
cmacnew replied to susie22's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Mini p was good, I went a few times earlier this year before going back to work. It was ?5 per class with no commitment and first class free. http://www.perform.org.uk/classes/weekly-classes/mini-ps-3-mths3-yr.html -
eeekkk! an old public loo?! I may try and take a stroll down there tomorrow. Thanks guys

I'm researching nurseries for my son and this one comes up on the OFSTED list, advising the location as East Dulwich Road, Peckham Rye Park. It was registered with Ofsted in March 2012, but I can't seem to find any other information about it. Does anyone know if such a nursery exists? Thanks

Dear All, I'm researching nurseries now and came across this thread, I am assuming that there was no feedback? Thanks! -
Best lighweight stroller / pushchair?
cmacnew replied to fabian's ma's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We went for the "standard" Maclaren option, the quest mostly as I liked the denim seat and hood and it was on special offer-around ?100. It works perfectly for my son and we've been using it since he was 1. Great for keeping in the car boot or folds a d goes under the seat in the hall, Grannie finds it easy to use too. -
Hi Verds, I hope you don't mind me messaging you. I am looking for somewhere for my son who will be 20 months by the time I send him to nursery in Jan. I have his name down at Mother Goose Greendale, which I really liked due to the location, the oustanding ofsted report and the lovely outdoor space. I just happened to see this weekend that Oak Tree are now taking under twos. How old is your little one? You say that the staff are very warm, which is the most important thing really. Are there anythings about the nursery that you don't like so much? Thanks in advance, Clare

Breast feeding cafe and breast feeding help!!
cmacnew replied to kamath's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi! I found the Townley road bf cafe a nice place to go and chat to other mums but for a useful bf nurse and advice try the jessops children's centre in herne hill on Monday at 10. I was quite often the only one there until 1030 (this was back in the summer) and they run toddler groups at the same time so you could try and entertain both little people at the same time? Anna the nurse was great with getting my little ones tongue tie sorted. http://www.guysandstthomas.nhs.uk/resources/services/managednetworks/womens/maternity/breastfeeding_support_groups.pdf -
If you like social groups like this one, then there is also a BLW group on Facebook called Baby Led Weaning - let your baby feed themselves and there are comments and questions on there daily. I found a meal planner on there.

The Ocado app is fab and very easy to use (if you like to do your shopping on line)

Omg I watched it on catch up tonight. I was in tears especially after delivery when they had the little thing all wrapped up with the oxygen mask over her face. The scene of legs I stirrups and 20 staff in gowns took me back a little and I'm quite pleased that I don't really remember too much in the hours following my sons birth. I think I'd be too scared to think about number 2 otherwise.

I suffered a lot with this after my son was born, and after using antibiotics to get rid of the first and second bouts, I used homeopathic remedies to successfully get rid of the third bout when I spotted it early on (feeling like an expert!) There is a homeopathic helpline which is very well known and regarded in such circles, 0906 534 3404. It's staffed by only a few people and they will chat through your symptoms and give you some advice on how you can treat it. You may have to give something to baby too. You can get most homeopathic remedies in Health Matters on LL. Avoiding such things which are very yeasty and sugary etc. will help in the immediate term. Good luck, hope you are feeling better soon!!

Double buggy-advice and recommendations needed
cmacnew replied to cmacnew's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Oh just seen the double buggy question from earlier in the week which may have answered my question, but any further comments welcome! -
Hi All, I'm looking for some recommendations/advice on which double buggy to get. Just about to start a nanny share and therefore need one for two 8 month babies, and was considering whether we should get one now which will accommodate newborn as (fingers crossed)we are hoping to have another one next year. Any recommendations on a buggy that might do both would be fab or am I just better off getting two second hand ones, one for each purpose?

Ah that explains why the baby monitor turned itself off in the night!

I really loved the Emma Jane nursing bras. They are simple but comfy. I had a few pretty nursing bras from Elle McPherson, but I don't think they are great if you are very large as they don't offer that much support, but look really pretty. Better further down the line if you have dropped a few feeds (and cup sizes!)

Watch it for entertainment value (funny husbands and very loud screaming women), but don't watch it if you are looking to find out what it will be like to be in labour...

Anyone got a good, child-friendly cleaner?
cmacnew replied to verds's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi, Our cleaner Fernanda is amazing, she loves our son Rosco and was one of the first people to meet him! I regularly used to answer the front door to her in my bra and when he was tiny and I was struggling she would play with him while I got ready in the morning! Now I'm (mostly) on top of things but she's very considerate of his naps etc still and always has a cuddle for him. Her number is 07961874801. -
Mother Goose - Uplands or Greenland?
cmacnew replied to Bellenden Belle's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi Jasmina, I went to look around Greendale today and am in a similar situation to you. The manager was nice, but quite pushy on the deposit and confirmation needed ASAP (tomorrow latest). The response to some of my questions was "it's in our detailled guidelines which you will get upon enrolement", but I kind of want to know the answer before I enrol.... My son may be attending in Jan/Feb at 8 months and I got the impression that it was generally just pureed fruit and veg that they gave the babies. She did say that if we wanted to bring a yoghurt or something in, if we have a particularly fussy one, then that is fine, but again, said that there was really no need to bring any food. I also asked for feedback on the nursery, and if you search under mothergoose my thread from yesterday will come up. One lovely parent said that they love the nursery. -
Has anyone tried a swaddle pod type thing?
cmacnew replied to bee74's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We used a swaddle pod with our son and it was handy for stopping that Moro reflex (which kept waking him up). From about 6 weeks he fought to get his arms out a lot and we ended up using it with arms out, which kind of defeats the point. He was able to get his hands to his face, which comforted him and didn't wave his arms about quite so much though. -
HI, I am going to look around Mothergoose at Greendale Fields tomorrow afternoon with my baby boy, who will be attending in January, aged 8 months. I am wondering if anyone has children there and if they can vouch for it? I have done all the research and on paper it looks very good, but would be great to hear from the horses mouth, so to speak. I am quite nervous/anxious at the thought of leaving him all day, and although I am sure he will be in great hands, it would be nice to have some reassurances. Thanks!

Check out this website, Mini Ps, they are offering 5 free sessions and then after that it's ?5 to drop in. They have sessions for starters, walkers and talkers, each session being 40 minutes. Mine is just a starter and it was a small group in St Barnabas Church Dulwich Village. Good fun and interactive for the babies. http://www.perform.org.uk/classes/weekly-classes/mini-ps-3-mths3-yr.html?gclid=CKKv_Nmg0qsCFcMOfAodhHy8WQ

We tried hypnobirthing (baby boy was born in May) and had a private class with Elle Dormer (http://www.elledormerhypnotherapy.co.uk/) who was LOVELY! She was just about to have her second baby so it was a bit rushed and we crammed 3 weeks into 2 sessions. I wanted to have some techniques to help deal with home birth and stay relaxed. I was pretty relaxed anyway and the labour was quite quick (6.5 hours) with baby born at home in the water. I am not sure to be honest whether I would have been any more or less relaxed without the hypnobirthing, but at the very least I used the breathing techniques and music to help me sleep whilst pregnant. It really helped my hubbie who didn't know too much about childbirth before the course and was a total star and know it all by the time it came to NCT classes and the actual labour and birth. I would say, if you are a highly strung person then anything you can do to help you relax would be useful during labour.

@acm; I am a new mum and this is all scary stuff. Thanks for substantiating.
