that's probably because they're trying to get on with their neighbours. I think they're open until midnight on Friday and Sat. Blimey Alachan (woops called you alan ..?) you're very devil may care - wooh wooh you crazy libertarian anarchist. I bet you pluck your teeth at recycling and - heck - throw your bagged salad away. With your attitude to coats I think you might enjoy the Quayside in Newcastle. You'd better watch out - you may be hounded out of the area! According to Darren Johnson: ?Outdoor heaters are an extraordinary waste of energy and carbon emissions. As well as heating outdoor space they also warm the climate. Each patio heater generates 2.2 tonnes of carbon dioxide on average per year ? the equivalent to driving a car for over 6,000 miles.? Still, I'm sure you've a list of things you intend to do if people tell you you shouldn't. Smoking's cool.

Energy prices - how much are you paying?

yikes - as I thought ... I'm nipping down to ikea for an ugly standard lamp sharpish -
I feel much less anti-smoker now they're not causing me to breathe their smoke. I just think that the use of outdoor heaters is a shocking waste of energy and wonder why its required ...

Not me the people switching on the heaters ...

Nero Holdings Limited - stay of execution

I suspect that a private individual who flouted planning regs wouldn't get away it. The Plough have also gone ahead with their "gazebo" (outdoor restaurant) without planning approval. I suppose big businesses just assume they'll manage to get it through with a bit of argy bargy and a bulldozer-like approach -
Ah - heat the outdoors there's a good idea. I know you smokers appreciate comfort (its the only pleasure I have left etc) and, what wit the price of fags these days, are short of cash - but haven't you heard of coats ...

Does anyone know if halogen lights use more electricity. Even if they are low voltage, we have 8 of them in our sitting room. I feel, but don't know, that this must be an energy drain and was thinking of getting a couple of standard lamps I can use low energy bulbs in. We can't replace the fittings because we rent - anyone know about this? -
spend all your life dedicated to pretending to be someone else and its almost inevitable that you become a hollow empty vessel

We're on about ?75 a month with npower combined dd green tariff for a 3 bed house (4 people) electric cooker, no tumble dryer but use of a dishwasher and washing machine that would make an eco-warrior weep. We're usually in credit and periodically get some money back. -
I did it once with willpower (succumbed after about 6 months) and the second time around used nicotine gum and pregnancy followed by trying to get fit. I think the initial thrill of health you feel after giving up for a few weeks fades and the best thing is to try and take up some exercise to get the health thrill. Ultimately you just need another less harmful addiction. I've stopped now for 3 1/2 years. Still get an itchy feeling in my fingers now and then but did once try to smoke (in self-abusive spite) and hated it so much its completely put me off - ysy! Don't even do it when I'm heading to the bottom of a bottle ...

ha! No wasn't me being lairy (ah, those were the days)

Food looks ok too. Not too ambitious in menu or prices - bangers and mash type of thing. Was a bit lairy in the garden.

child snatch attempt: UPDATE suspect taken into custody
bawdy-nan replied to Asset's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
the consequences for the person who is found to have been in contempt of court could be a criminal record, fine and/or imprisonment the consequences for a trial might be that its abandoned and redone (in the case of the trial of Lee Bowyer the footballer, for example) Not sure whether there have been instances when a trial has been utterly abandoned in any case you don't have to actually prejudice the trial to be in contempt there has to be a "substantial risk" that it will impede or prejudice the trial -

I think you mean contempt chumasterp, but you're right about the "fade-factor". Trouble with online stuff is that it remains recallable and isn't used to wrap the proverbial fish and chips. There also seems little desire to prosecute in the case of media stories that dwell on the "evil" perps of terror ... hmmmm... Its happened before when the London bombing suspects were arrested - again front page pix basically saying gotcha. The tabloids, and their journalists, do get prosecuted and now, because of new legislation, can be made to pay for the costs of retrying the case. -
indeed TedMax - I'm not sure she's may favourite newlabourite but (whisper) I don't think she's so bad as a local MP.

My favourite feast Now we have the splendid William Rose - don't forget to ask for your giblets when you buy your chicken. Separate the liver from the rest and either freeze it (collecting enough to make a pate) or have it on toast for one thusly: Heat a little butter in a small pan and lightly cook a chopped spring onion or bit of onion and an anchovy (or squirt of anchovy paste - use Gentleman's Relish in an emergency) add the liver cook on both sides til done (not very long) add a splash of wine (or a really good vineagar will do) tip the whole lot onto a chopping board and chop together with some fresh parsley salt and pepper - the wet will mix in Serve on toast Yum Use the rest of the giblets to make a stock with the usual stock bolsters (onion, carrot, celery and bay)

The woman gets a lot of stick on this forum about not showing her face in the area, but I remember a particularly glorious day when she stood at the bottom of Bawdale Road with a banner as part of the (very tiny) East Dulwich Rubbish! campaign. She was helping to complain about the fly-tipping that used to exist at the bottom of the road ...

Just found my way to Tessa's website. It seems she's trying to demonstrate how often she heads south of the river as she's got a map with flags on citing visits. Very odd. Maybe she could strap a webcam to her head or wear a tracking device so we can see where she wanders ...

Contempt of Court laws apply when "proceedings are active". That usually means when an arrest has been made. You must publish nothing that cause ?a substantial risk of serious prejudice? to any possible trial in the future. In this case some forum posts seem to be suggesting that the perpetrator of the attempted child snatch has been caught. This would imply guilt and therefore prejudice any future proceedings. Its more of a problem online because it can be recalled and there's less of a fade factor. Reckoning somebody "did it" is a problem. Contempt of court is a criminal offence and carries serious penalties ? an unlimited fine and/or up to two years imprisonment of the relevant personnel responsible for the offending publication or broadcast. The current Attorney General seems less than comfortable in applying the law (recent Suffolk murders, Cash for Honours "row" being some prominent examples) but its probably not ideal to rely on that. -
what is NTV? Louisa - it may be ok - from what I can gather the managers have quite a say in how its run - lets wait and see ...

yup - I think this is going to be the way all day and everyday - their carbon footprint is the size of a dead blue whale - but, must keep the smokers happy hey ....

er - the brewery has been Mitchell and Butler for the last 3 years or so - they took it over from the Just So Company but have now "re-branded" it as a "Castle" "brand". Essentially they're trying to create the impression of an independent pub run by a "landlord" - when its as corporate as they come. Not, saying thats always a very very bad thing just rankle at the fake branding of it. The manager has been involved in a number of local operations - Spaghetti Westons, Belair House, Cafe Rouge and whatever the Barcelona place was called before it was Barcelona - so, er, make of that what you will.:-S They have said openly that they intend to put prices up significantly (or rather, not have drinks offers) in order to put off the people who used to go before. It was horrible before. They're intending to have bouncers for a short while til the old clientele realise they're not wanted. It does look lovely from what I've seen and I'm delighted they've put up chains to stop parking on the front which used to be a nightmare - to get past on that side of the road you often had to stroll into the bus lane - not fun with two toddlers in tow. Will certainly pop in and havea sniff around today I should imagine -

Its open today but for "invited" guests - opens properly tomorrow.
