  1. Horniman Museum? Plenty of places to have a sit down as you go around. Cafe. Free apart from the aquarium (which isn't much).
  2. we have a small car and I find it handy to have the choice of how to get about - for example, we took our books back to Canada Water library today, which we could easily do by train, but it was cold and I wanted to go to Tesco's as well to get some bulky/heavy stuff - so the car made better sense. Going into or across town weekdays/evenings - always public transport. If you're going to get a car, get something small and cheap to run - parking is your biggest nightmare and unless you have more than 2 you really don't need a big car - I have friends with 2 who have a Golf and have done for years, others have a Fiesta which does them fine. Met a friend at the Horniman recently, she in her estate (2 kids) had to drive round for ages and park miles away, we nipped into a space right outside the gates. I mean, if you're going to drive for convenience, it makes sense for it to actually be convenient! (It was bloody freezing on this particular day, trailing across the park with a toddler dragging her heels didn't really appeal.)
  3. Otta - Game of Thrones is a slow burner, both seasons have started off slowly but by halfway through you'll be gripped. Yes, you will. We're on the second season of Fringe which again started slowly but got better.
  4. Game of Thrones True Blood Deadwood Spartacus
  5. would you say this was suitable for a fairly athletic 3 year old, or is it really for older kids?
  6. we've got a Peppa book called My Daddy which Mr Oi stopped reading to Miss Oi when he got to the bit where Daddy Pig's favourite exercise is lifting the remote control . . . Peppa is a whiny little thing, though, isn't she? I like Mr Dinosaur best.
  7. congratulations! We too got married after 10 years, a house and a baby, celebrating our 2nd anniversary on Tuesday!
  8. when the clocks went back in October, Mr Oi and I got utterly confused as to what gadgets had changed time automatically and what hadn't and what the bloody hell was the actual time anyway - we ended up pitching up at a friend's for Sunday lunch 2 hours early. Stupidly, we are at my sister's for lunch tomorrow, why did I arrange that?? God knows what time we'll get there . . .
  9. never seen Homeland. I thought Mr Oi would be glued to it as Damian Lewis is his manlove of choice, but he wasn't interested. And it clashed with something else, if memory serves. I enjoyed Ripper Street, I do like a bit of Matthew McFadyen, and Jerome Flynn's had a bit of a career resurgance, hasn't he? He's very good in GoT, he and Tyrion make a good comedy duo.
  10. Jessica! Of course. I'd forgotten about her (she's not in the books, which I've been rereading as I can't cope with anything too intelligent at the mo). Yes, she looks like a goer. As does/did Sybil in Downton, no surprise she wanted to get down'n'dirty with the chauffeur. The new girl, the niece or whatever she is, she looks like a minx too.
  11. I don't have pregnancy to blame for fancying all and sundry off the telly. I am just Very Shallow. And Fickle. Luckily, this is not in real life (12 years this Augsut with Mr Oi! Who indulges my fancies to the extent that he bought me a Thorin collectible, no less, action figure for Christmas. Lost his oakenshield already though, whoops.)
  12. well, he's certainly the best character, he's not top of my dwarf list though (see comment re: Thorin above) though he is, at least, an actual dwarf. I liked the 'dawrves' in Snow White and the Huntsman, they were a jovial crew. Which has, in a roundabout way, put Deadwood into my mind. I did have a bit of a thing for Timothy Oliphant and his psycho eyes in that, well, season 1 at any rate. Alcide - he is very fit, but he does look like he'd pop if you stuck a pin in him (cf Daniel Craig coming out of the sea in Casino Royale). Sam's very cute. Jason is just pretty. Have you read all the books, Otta? I agree Pam is uber-cool in the books. I have just finished the most recent (I think the next is meant to be the last, thank God) and they have totally gone down the pan, the author (and Sookeh with her) has completely lost her sense of humour.
  13. not on TV, but I always like looking at Rachel Weisz. Don't know if she's hot, as such, but she's certainly very easy on the eye. Is Sookie sexy? I'm never sure. There's such an abundance of lush blokes on True Blood, I've never had an eye to spare for the wimmin. I do like Pam, she's great.
  14. got them, thanks! They had loads!
  15. does anyone know if anywhere still has stock of those little chicks you can get to decorate stuff with? Saisnbo's has sold out, I've got a couple of child-free hours this afternoon to track some down. I know they've got them in Tiger in Lewisham, but I can't be arsed traipsing over there. Thanking you.
  16. both if them?? That's just greedy. I also stopped watched BH after Mitchell imploded in a cloud of greasy hair. (also, I just could not believe in his romance with Annie. At All.) I thought my heart would then belong to Kili but he was so blown out of the water by the diviness that is Thorin. Bishop - my liking of Bill is definitely influenced by his hair, he is a vampire that can't carry of bad hair (season 2, I'm thinking of you). Eric, on the other hand, can carry off anything, me included.
  17. ooh, no idea Fuschia, I'm a complete Luddite. Oxalis - yes, give me a couple of months when season 5 comes out and it'll be goodbye Robb (I've decided definitely (probably) on Robb), helloooooooo Eric.
  18. we don't have Sky, I've watched the first 2 series on DVD. Does Sky Atlantic have ad breaks (I know HBO doesn't)? Because I could not watch it with ads, they do my head in. It's pretty violent. I read the first 2 books, but now I'm watching it I don't want to read it, if that makes sense. 'can't talk, reading' is my normal state. A couple of weeks back I was irritated beyond belief that Mr Oi wanted to spend breakfast-time talking. Talking!!! This is my reading time, goddammit! (Miss Oi was still in bed). I Was Cross.
  19. yes, you do. It is tip-top, quite aside from the presence of lush young men. I've had one PM favouring Jon, so I'd be interested in your soon-to-be-valid opinion. Come on people! There can't just be 2 of us frivolling away.
  20. as is so often the case, Otta has pithily written what I want to say but can't get the words out right. As it is, I'm off back to mulling over attractive young men in armour and furs.
  21. because I feel like it. Watching season 2 of Game of Thrones (no spoilers please) - Jon Snow or Robb Stark? - I was all about Jon but Robb is looking pretty damn hot. Damn hot. Oh yes.
  22. I was obviously residing in a rather more scummy area than ED when I lived near a school . . .
  23. Paul Dacre (DM editor) has to be one of the most appalling people working in journalism. People go on about Murdoch and his henchmen but I actually think Dacre is far far worse. People think they are 'better' cos they read the Mail not the Sun, but they aren't. He is an utter disgrace. You can thank him for Cameron's current waffle on immigration, that's for sure. In fact, if you aren't a white, British, working man, Dacre will park all of society's ills at your door at some point. My Mil (who is otherwise lovely) is coming this week and this always brings my DM-hate to the fore as she's bound to trot something or other out that's she's read in it. Why??? You're an intelligent woman, stop it! Grrrrrr.
  24. oh, that wouldn't bother me - I have reached my fourth decade without ever regularly making my bed!
  25. crisps. I lived on a road with a primary school and I always knew when term had started cos my front garden was full of crisp packets.
