  1. I thought that was my tinnitus playing up.
  2. The general trend re numbers is that the further afield the restaurant the fewer the attendees. Thus we have had up to 12 for Lordship Lane restaurants and as few as four for Ganapati in Bellenden. Larger bookings for the smaller restaurants are OK, as long as people show up. No-shows have less of an impact for the larger restaurants, if you see what I mean. I started this thread in January but we had done one or two meals at the end of 2007. The Curry Club is officially, an institution. Shall we revisit Tandoori Nights next month?
  3. Omrith is bloody good. The Mirash did the business and confirmed its status as a fine knocker out of a standard curry offer without being avant-garde. We have now done all of the curry houses in the immediate vicinity of ED. A decision was made (by me) to keep the Curry Club as the Curry Club, with a specific curry focus. However, we felt that we could on occasion patronise neighbouring areas, such as Nunhead, which is very pleasant, for a cemetary, and other providers of spicy offerings, such as Thai restaurants and stuff. Next CC meet is mid October, date TBC as is the venue. How about Tandoori Nights? The CC's first ever meeting was there about 12 months ago.
  4. The Mag would be good, we like The Mag - even in its all new configuration.
  5. It does sound very very attractive .....
  6. Would that be Neil Carter's long lost cousin? If so, they're along way from Ambridge.
  7. Well, you have tried the Naga Chicken and the Garlic Chicken. We will need to search the menu for something else similarly pokey :))
  8. I've got tinnitus and am rather mutton myself, as anyone who has tried to converse with me a Forum drinks will confirm. My side of the conversation consisting of .."Pardon?". A miss-spent youth of loud concerts (The Who in their pomp being particularly damaging) and rock clubs (Hungry Years in Brighton being a favourite), when I enjoyed such things. I would wish to ensure that the youth of today avoid such later irritation and that the neighbours of the FHT get a good nights sleep. My tinnitus gets worse when I am deprived of asleep, so I know the importance of sleep to persons of deafness. Please speak up when you respond, I seem to be having a white noise and bleeping day.
  9. Table booked for 8.30. Meet those that wish to at the EDT at 7.30.
  10. If AIG went down, that would be serious. They insure may of the financial deals that the banks have done with each other, if that insurance cover disappears, then those dodgy but sustainable deals will suddenly lose what little credibility they have.
  11. Olive trees in ED? Surely the result of indolent ED Gastronomes spitting their olive stones out of the dining room window, aimed at the passing lower classes?
  12. Silly Snorky. Simply buy two Guinea pigs, smother them in super glue and then roll them in Lady Snorky's pin container. Presto! Two hedgehogs.
  13. Given the steep rise in electricity prices, will there be an increase in canabis prices as well? Should this be factored into the inflation calculations?
  14. Its this Wednesday Azul - will you be in this country?
  15. Yes, generally avoid a "buffet" approach. Jah, I am sure Ray will be happy to mince your food, so allowing you to indulge yourself .... Having just spent 2 1/2 weeks in France a spot of spice was needed last night and a Mirash delivery hit the spot. Shall we say EDT at 7.30 and the meal at 8.30? Who else is up for it?
  16. The 17th is still on as far as I am concerned. The last ED curry house to visit is the Mirash _ and I suggest that we can then decide where we go from there.
  17. I like the comment that "those who criticise the proposed chqnges are ignoring the strong support for phase two of ELLE" _ um, no. Its just that we have been here before and will not believe it will happen intil the first ELL train actually arrives. No money has been allocated and with the Stratford Olympics sucking out all of Londons available money for a generation it seems unlikely that there will be funds available for some time to come. Unless of course Tessa of North London wants to keep her seat.
  18. Materialises in from the spirit world of the South West of France. Anybody care for a spot of the local Fitou? Cest tres bonne and theres no mistakin. Slips back to the land of the Cathars ..........
  19. You had Scotch eggs ... Nooooooooooo........ I love them. I had to put up with Moules Mariniere beside the Med with a piche of Languedocienne Rose.. tsk. :)) (in a beret)
  20. I will be thinking of you from un petit bar in the Languedoc.
  21. Keef mate - you ran your flag up the flag-pole and they failed to salute it. Comfort yourself that, if you had been on-boarded, you may well have found a lack of synergy between your aspirations and their vision; leaving you to say: "F@ck your job" :))
  22. Steve Waller at the Half Moon - I remember them from 20 years ago, just after I moved to the big city, a great musician and raconteur as I remember.
  23. It is now ...........
