Forest Hill Tavern - Late Night Noise (Lounged)

I am not ingorant! BUT, I have thought of one potential noise problem with the Deaf thing. Loads of people shouting "Pardon, eh, what?" at 3am. Back the drawing board. -
Forest Hill Tavern - Late Night Noise (Lounged)

"Jo, is there anything you can suggest (as the > promoter) to try and manage the noise issue both > inside and outside the venue?" Couldnt you run a club night for the Deaf? No need for a costly DJ and no noise at all. All you need is lots of flashing lights. -
I know sod all about the Gee-Gees', but somebody out there must do.....

Has anybody noticed that we Brits excel in one particular kind of sport? The "sitting-down" kind. Sailing, canoeing, cycling; as long as we sit on our arses we are brilliant. Had Zara Pilips not sprained her horse we would have got a gold in the "sitting on your arse on a horse" kind of sport as well. We also got a medal or two in swimming, which really is a "lying down" sport. Its in the "standing up" sports that we fall over. Also... An obvious solution to the London 2012 athletes accommodation issue. The armed forces have been reduced in size to the point that we have a bloke with a bread knife tied to a broom handle protecting us from the undefined menace that is menacing us. SO, all of those military tents that the MoD has in store are going begging. Erect them all in the parks of London and you have an athletes accommodation solution that also brings extra trade to the corner shops, chippies and curry houses of the capital as the athletes seek sustinance for their coming endeavours. The only draw back would be the unsightly yellow grass left afterwards, but you cant have everything.

Michael Palaeologus replied to Adam's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Wise words My Lord, may I say how buff you are looking today, want a shiny apple? Oh Administrator, Your Magnificence, given your omniscience and omnipotence, which IS the best restaurant in South East London? While you are pondering this, could you make the rain stop please? -

Good Lord, you will want to ban children and their transportation devices next. Where will the mothers of Dulwich then go for their mid-morning Gin and Orange? -
... and he only got his results last week. Still, he is quite bright, he took them a year early.

He is VERY demanding Azul and you tried your best. Its his wild Iberian heritage which is at the route of it. Its just me, me, me with him. I hope that Mairead's naturally placid nature can cope.

Curry Club - Thursday 7 March 2019 - venue TBC
Michael Palaeologus replied to Michael Palaeologus's topic in The Lounge
I'm still full and burping curry which at 8am is a little unpleasant. Well done to AnnaJ, Hibbs, Sean and Mrs Sean McG, Azul and Tina :)), Georgia and Mr Georgia and David C for braving the elements. Lovel meal, didny check the loos. I suggest that the next one is the Mirash. I think that this is the last ED curry house to visit. How about Wednesday 17 September? Can anybody think of an ED curry house that we havent been too? If not what next? We could widen our scope to become a dining club and so trot round all of the eateries in ED without fear or favour. We could go off piste and visit the curry houses of neighbouring areas (Forest Hill, Camberwell, etc) or we could stick to ED curry houses and go round again; any other ideas welcome. -
"does this forum ALWAYS have to be funny??" Well, mostly, yes. It is the wit and humour that makes the ED Forum different from other local Fora where debates are dominated by witless witterings about car parking, the state of the roads and school waiting lists. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/graphics/2006/08/29/cnrdf29.jpghttp://news.bbc.co.uk/olmedia/620000/images/_622260_roland.gif Come on, seriously, do either of these deserve saving?

Boinggggg! -
So, lets start a ED Hunt. There are enough dogs around to form the pack, PGC has horse contacts and we could have our own pack of Antis' as an associate group - sort of "hate each other during the blood letting and then all down the pub for a beer afterwards", bit like rugby. We could meet on Goose Green by the EDT for the traditional stirrup cup before hunting over the rolling green acres of Peckham Rye. Local road names would seem to show that this is a historical tradition in this area and so is totally appropriate.

Hmmm - on close examinations the little bumps on the side of the hands would seem to be the thumbs, thus the raised digit is a middle finger.

According to Wikipedia (The unalloyed truth that is Wikipedia) the cross of St Patrick is included in the Union Flag. It is the Welsh that miss out as, apparently, they arent a separate country but are legally part of England. Go and tell your Welsh friends, they will be SO happy. Still, not sure where we could fit the big lizardy thing on the Union Flag. Then again St David's Cross

"When they dig up dens at the beginning of a hunt and find cubs, or a pregnant vixen, do you know what the standard practice is?" - Whatever it is it will end up in death, I presume you are referring to throwing the foxes to the pack - a horrible but swift end. Much the same end that Foxes dish out to chickens. Nature red in tooth and claw. Your small Farmer may wish to reflect on this as he makes good the devastation caused by the hunt as they poured tornado-like through his perfect Cider With Rosie small holding. He may even have to repaint the white picket fence. Lets stop endowing wild animals with human sensibilities. Its nasty, its horrible, its nature. Next time Mr Tibbles brings in a dead mouse in to you as a present reflect upon the terror of the last few seconds of Jerry's life as your lovely companion played with him with his be-clawed paws. The major environmental problems that we have are caused by mankind's complete dislocation from the natural world and so from reality. So you anti-hunt people not only are you personally responsible for rural poverty but also for global warning, rising sea levels, Tsunamis, dutch elm disease, myxamatosis, blue tongue and the death of the common sparrow. Shame on you.

Most people in the cities were glad to see the back of fox hunting precisely because of the complete lack of understanding of the rural economy and life that D-P-Fairy exemplifies. The banning of fox hunting by the Labour Party left was primarily an act of a class war that has long since been discredited and that has no relevance to fox hunting. I am no supporter of the Tories, but I believe that they have undertaken to remove the ban of fox hunting and so relieve the rural population of one example of urban oppression.

I guess that gets to the heart of it. 10 out of 10 for responding to the thread BUT - come on, if you know you have 60 bookings and will have more passing trade - get some more staff booked in. The big booking would give positive feedback as they were the people that the staff were focused on, not the rest of the clients. The problem is that those who got a good service may tell afew people over a short period of time; those who got bad service will tell many people over an extended period of time. Thus a short term gain will turn into a long term loss.
