Buttplugs? Where?

I am not unhappy at the change of Government. Not because I support the Conservatives, but because I felt that the Labour Goverment was tired and had run out of new ideas. Change was needed for catharsis. Gordon saved our arses during the economic crash - at huge cost BUT that was required. Questions have to be asked about why he introduced deregulation to the City that allowed the City institutions and high street banks to become inter-twined in such a way the bank account holder on the street was threatened by exotic and toxic financial instruments dreamt up in the city and based on dodgy loans given to poverty stricken Americans to buy over-priced badly built homes; but then, only Vince Cable was pointing out the stupidity of this.

"Shoot me you platist swine!" would be my response Bobby.

But it does have scalloped corners. Go figure - as young people say. Tossers that they are.

Oval is not round - its oval. We dont call Kennington Oval, Kennington Round, do we? Roundy shapes are similar but different and are differentiated as such. Trafalgar Square isnt square but its still a square, the same is true for Leicester Square. So a one dimensional pointy polygon is square whatever shape it is. If you would like a magnificent Oval plate, on which you fit alot more food, I sourced mine from the Haberdashery shop opposite Morrisons in the Peckham Shopping Centre. So, elegant and dead common at the same time. I dont think Peckham Shopping Centre is at the geographical centre of Peckham.

Issue for Mr Barber, Mitchell, Ms Joy...Resign or defect!
Michael Palaeologus replied to TonyQuinn's topic in The Lounge
Good Lord Yes! Quids you are quite correct. We are all in a collective coma and are living in the 1980's. Heston's cooking toasted sandwiches and my phone has grown ten-fold over night. Of course this means that the Labour Party are still in Stalinist/Leninist cat fight, the upside being that their leader is a fellow Ginger. Another possible option is that the LibDems are actually split. With Liberals comfortable with the Conservatives and the Social Democrats comfortable with Labour. That aside, if this partnership works we could end up with a more European style of politics with a Christian Democrat block and a Social Democrat block with a number of Indies and minor parties. With some form electoral reform we will finally break away from the polarised knock about politics that has blighted our country and create a far more representative form of governance. -

Well said Peckhamboy. As to the original question. Its partisan and driven by the very tribal loyalties that need to be eased out of politics. We all recognise it as the rhetorical point scoring statement that it is. -

Eton blue? Chenet Comprehensive green as it happens thank you Jenny - born and raised in the industrial West Midlands and of mining stock. The economy just went bust with a loud "pop", an economy bloated by debt, based on a boom presided over by the Iron Chancellor for 10 years. He had every opportunity to address the issues in the financial sector, but didnt. Gordon Brown didnt end boom and bust, he presided over the biggest boom and bust since the Great Depression. He allowed the high street banks and the City banks to become one and the same - before he de-regulated the finance sector there was no need to protect the person in the street from a City crash. Its amazing that a simple thing as compromise creates such visceral hatred. -

"Sell out" - I presume you mean compromise, acting like adults, that sort of thing. The old Tribal loyalties are GONE - thankfully. What we need is a little pragmatism to get us out of the economic sh*t asap - if that requires two groups of adults to talk and give a little, take a little and generally give it a go with good grace, then so be it. -

Ironic. The Labour Party - that was voted out by the public - tried to cobble together a coalition with the Lib Dems and the nationalist Parties - just to stay in power. The Lib Dems did exactly the same, but with one difference, the were successfull. Mr Brown has resigned. There is a new dawn. Let us all embrace it. ;-) -

Seeking a little feedback on the competition Happyman? As with all of these evenings, the company was good and so it was a great evening overall. Service was friendly and good, the food was (some of us thought) rather bland and disappointing - Dhansak is sweet and sour, but mine was just too sweet. I think others found their meals similarly not up to par. Other attending Curry Chums may wish to comment. -

I think that the idea of an impromtu summer drinks is a goer - this doesnt require organisation - just a post to invite people to a given pub garden on a given date. That should tide us over the summer.

So the liberals have lost control of Southwark council...

Of course, all budgets are likely to hammered with the much heralded austerity measures. Farewell new projects, farewell London Overground extension, farewell "ring fenced" budgets, farewell regeneration projects. Has nobody been listening? We are in the financial poo. All of these projects are going to be cut. -
The fact that any of us cannot understand why other people grieve in a particular given way is surely irrelevant? Some grieve in private and quietly, some grieve in public and obviously. Shouldnt we just respect the fact that they are grieving and let them get on with it? Public expressions of grief may be knew to us buttoned up Brits - but not in other cultures and we are increasingly and positively infuenced by other cultures. How long a memorial is allowed to stay is tricky, but once the flowers are dead then removing them seems reasonable as a bunch of dead flowers and tatty sticky-tape dont make much of a memorial.

I got a ballot card through the post a few days ago - was addressed fully and looked official .. apart from the Labour Rose and the photo of Mad Hetti on the top. The instruction on the ballot card was to report to the Labour Party representative on arrival at the polling station. WTF?
