First is a post "Just for fun" - next thing you know you will be asked to storm the gates of Downing Street, on your own, with the rest of the Brothers and Sisters sat at home, watching the TV, cheering you on, in comfort.
  2. "The whole of Greece is uprising against the capitalist dynasty"? No. Its a traditional annual May Day march made somewhat more pointed by Greece's economic woes, with the usual anarchists jumping on the band-wagon and causing some mayhem. Tragically, innocent people died. The BBC were as ever, even handed. Its not the BBC's job to wave the red flag from the battlements.
  3. Dulwichmum - there are problems with the use of both stocks and ducking stool in Peckham. Firstly, both would get nicked. Secondly pelting Peckhamites with vegetables whilst locked in the stocks would only serve to force feed them vitamin laden food stuffs not normally in their diet. Thus they would become healthier, quicker and more difficult for the Rozzers to collar. Thirdly use of the ducking stool would give them an undeserved wash at the tax payers expense. Capital punishment or at least the removal of an offending limb is called for.
  4. Its either cats fornicating or foxes fornicating. It happens alot in ED. Look at the pram problems that we have.
  5. I saw Mr Ben on Lordship Lane the other day. I took him home. To help me remember...
  6. Mrs Onion - please take your husband and his best man in hand!
  7. This Wednesday Curry lovers - meet at the EDT at 7.30ish - on to the Pistachio Club at 8ish; or just meet at the Pistachio Club. Just realised, this thread is over 2 years old. Cool.
  8. What happened in Tomsk then? or is it a little early for that sort of discussion?
  9. "ye see, repeating it doesn't make it any more correct" Quite so Sean. Quite so.
  10. I learned to be wary of Uncle Quentin at an early age. He died an unfortunate death in Bratislava ......
  11. "No party is perfect, 'tis true, but the current British population's attitude to their politicians is heart-breakingly childish" Childish? Yes. If you accept that a child quickly learns which adults can be trusted and which adults will abuse trust. Whenever those adults enter the room, the child leaves the room. Dogs and cats follow similar behaviour. Heartbreaking? Yes. If you accept that 60 million Britons have realised that their leaders are not to be trusted. In our population of politicians, some of them are trustworthy. They have a true vocation. Sadly their good work has been more than counter-balanced by the self serving, loathsome individuals that enter politics for personal gain and advancement or by those that deceitfully promote political dogma and bigotry (of all shades) as being for the public good.
  12. I dont agree. To not participate at all is childish - its taking your ball home with you and sulking. By not participating you have no right to complain about the outcome. Getting off your backside and going to the polls or posting your ballot paper is participating and subsequently gives you a right to moan and bitch to your hearts content. A vote is a statement of belief in one of the options and a "spoilt" ballot paper is a statement of a lack of belief in any of the buggers; but it is still a statement and is a demonstration that you have fulfilled your civic duty to the wider polis. The fact that your purple flower party didnt get in is unfortunate but at least you can throw brick-bats at those that did.
  13. Mine too are galloping away. Just got some compost from Lidl and will do a little planting on this weekend.
  14. Was she dirty? She looked dirty.
  15. I recently saw Ringo Starr on the Kings Road - he has aged a tad since he was on the yellow submarine.
  16. Prior to its demolition the place was used as offices by a company that imported clocks, personalised/branded them and then sold them on. I had a meeting with them in their offices in old Odeon, sadly run down by then.

Stop following soccer-ball and do something more productive with your time.
  18. Anybody seen her about the constituency? or Ms Harman? Safe seats - dont need to bother?
  19. I guess you can surrender your driving licence at any time and not give a reason - thus there would be nothing on record as to why.
  20. Yes enough with the soccer-ball twattery. That is carefully isolated in its own thread.
