Hubby and I went here last week to sample a few ales and have a bite to eat .... the food was appalling and we won't be back! We ordered the corn tortillas as a starter - when they arrived they were cold, tasteless and chewy with big lumps of gelatinous cheese. Almost like they had been prepared in advance and left to sit until wanted. We also ordered some 'HAND CUT' chips with garlic mayo - when they arrived, no garlic mayo to be seen. The chips themselves were fried to within an inch of their lives and were dry and tasteless, not to mention black in the middle. The waiter who brought us our food could see that we were unhappy and came over to see if everything was ok. When I pointed out to him that the chips were burnt and black he replied, 'Oh, well they are Aunt Bessie's skin on chips so are supposed to look like that'. When I showed him how black they were inside by breaking one, and said to him, 'Aunt Bessie's?? Aren't they supposed to be HAND CUT CHIPS??!' he hurridly cleared our full dishes and said I'll get you a refund for your food!! We will NOT be going back!!

Hi there, I'd like to recommend the very lovely Sharon, who catered for us for our wedding in October last year. She did a hot and cold buffet for 50 people (including vegetarian dishes) and it was fab, everyone commented on how good the spread was ... and there was a lot of food! Hi there, Am looking for a salon that does gel nail extensions, does anyone have any recommendations? I went to 999 on East Dulwich Road last year to have my nails done for my wedding ... The girl who did them was quite rude and unfriendly and the nail extensions looked like they had been done in a rush and weren't exactly the best so am not too keen to go back in there!

You could try Shingo at Kuki Hair which is in Nunhead. He is excellent, but gets booked up very quickly! Equally as good is Miguel at Rocks Hair which is just by Denmark Hill train station (he worked at Kuki for a while). He has just opened up his own salon and at the moment, it's just himself. Both guys are fabulous hairdressers :)

?40 for a cut and finish Cora, I phoned and asked today :) I usually go to the excellent Shingo at Kuki Hair, but he is so busy of late, that I can't get an appointment when I am free. I also thought I'd give Rocks a go as it is literally 5 mins away from where I work and the reviews here seem positive.

Hi there and congratulations! We're also looking for wedding venues, even though we're not getting married until 2014, we're forward planning and saving! (wages are no better once you have qualified as a nurse, believe me!) Have just spotted a lovely looking pub in Herne Hill, the Prince Regent. I know it's not Lordship Lane or quite East Dulwich but it looks lovely and is not too far away. Think we will be going to take a look :0)

Plucked up the courage and finally had my tresses cut off (almost 10 inches!) Shingo was absolutely amazing, such a lovely guy and a great stylist. He really listened to ideas that I had and took the time to talk things through, unlike some stylists I have had the misfortune to meet! Fabulous cut, no blatent selling of products or other styling services and an amazing massage chair and head massage. Wishing Shingo, Pauline and all the team at Kuki hair all the very best, am sure they will be a great success and I for one will be going back again :)

Fidgetsmum, let me know how you get on today ... am contemplating getting my hair done there too :)

I agree Sue, they would have done a health and safety assessment before they opened ... wouldn't they?

They've been closed since all the riots happened ..... I hope they re-open and soon too, was hoping to book a manicure and pedicure for my birthday next week

Just showed this post to my Fiance ..... He saw them last night on Lordship Lane outside Adventure Bar, walking towards Goose Green. It was probably around 12.45am, he was walking home from work.
