  1. Hi, Does anyone know of a half day (3 hours) summer camp, it can be sports, arts and craft, dancing, etc. I have a four year old girl and don't want her to go the full day, as I think she is still young, 3 hours will give me some time on my own with the baby. Thank you
  2. No way I could handle full time, I work 2 days at week and I am looking forward to go back, once I sort out nursery for the baby and after school care for the older one. The only way I could do full time is if I had a great nanny, I always feel worry to leave the kids with someone else ,unless I really trust her, at least in the nursery there are more people looking after the kids, one person may get tired and stressed with the baby and he/she can't tell you anything.
  3. Hi, I also saw the nursery and think the staff was nice, the children were all happy and relaxed; the nursery was organised and cleaned. Didn't find any complaint when I try to google it nor read anything about the washing up either.
  4. Never being there, the long drive with kids put me off, our friends took 12 hours once coming back, they got stuck in traffic.
  5. The suntent didn't work for our older daughter, we got it when she was a baby, so for the second one we got a travel cot. Argos has good ones and they are good value for money, check the reviews, we got a good one for a very good price, with a good mattress, but keep in mind is a travelcot mattress, so it will never be as comfortable as a normal mattress. I have a daughter the same age, I normally put her to sleep in the cot, unless we are out an about when her routine gets disturbed, but I just go with the flow, everyday is different with babies so young, I tried to have a routine, but don't get too stress if thinks work out different. We have been abroad twice with her already. Make sure you have a baby sleeping bag. Good luck
  6. I can see you got lots of advice already. I agree with supergolden88, not keeping comfort food in the house is the key. I don't buy biscuits, ice cream, crips, cakes, sodas, juices to keep in the house, if I ever feel like it I buy it when I am out, I normally share dessert with my husband when we go out or share the cake when we go for a coffee. You don't have to deny yourself, just don't abuse it. Yoga is also greet, I try to do at least 15min everyday, it is better to do a little everyday than do a lot on one day. Also get yourself blood test and make sure there is not a correlated problem, like a thyroid problem that can cause anxiety and get you to eat too mucj
  7. I am glad some people has contributed to this discussion, it can help parents understand why their kids may get into drugs, support them and help them make the right decisions and hopefully prevents deads due to drugs abuse. I believe Freddy's parents were hoping he will go through that stage and come out on the other side safe, unfortunately he didn't.
  8. I got my licence last year, pass the exam first time, never drove before. I used 4 driving schools, the best one and last one I used before passing my test was Brittania Driving School (A guy call Matthew I think)
  9. I tried them for other problems. I used a private one in Neal's yard in London Bridge, his name is John, he is very good and works with children as well, not sure if he still works there. The foundation of cranial osteopathy treats children for free, they do ask you to give them a donation if you can though. http://www.nealsyardremedies.com/cranial-osteopathy http://www.occ.uk.com/?page_id=19 I give my baby hipp good night milk before bed, I notice they sleep better when they are full. I also find necessary to do sleep training, except when they are unwell. When my baby wakes up I go to her room and put her dummy back and she normally goes back to sleep, I also put her some toys, so she amused herself if she wakes up. However, whatever you do I think they normally wake up when they are teething or unwell, so even is they already started sleeping through the night, there will be occasion when they wake up, until they are older and get all their teeth and her immune system gets stronger
  10. Here is the article is someone wants to read it: http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23961216-losing-freddy-a-father-speaks-out-about-his-sons-heroin-death.do
  11. It is devastating. The fee for the article was given to RAPT, the drug treatment charity
  12. JAGS also has summer activities
  13. Stagecoach is running a holiday workshop in the Alleyn school this summer for a week http://www.stagecoach.co.uk/dulwich
  14. I ended feeling very depressed after reading the article in the Evening Standard: 'Losing Freddy'. To make a long story short: In the article the father tells how his son, who was an academically gifted child and a beautiful boy gravitated into the wrong crowd in the school when he was 13, started trying drugs and died a few weeks ago, age 18 of a heroin overdose. The parents tried to help him and sent him twice away; The first time to a Wilderness School in the US known as Brat Camp, he came back fit and healthy, however after a few months he started seeing his friends again and relapsed. The second time they sent him to a clinic in South Africa, he came back fit and healthy again, unfortunately he relapsed again and died of a Heroin Overdose later on. It is very sad to see how a child with a huge potential became addicted to drugs and died so young. I kept the article, hoping to show it to my kids when they are all enough to understand the danger of drugs and the influence of bad friends. As parents, we have to be very vigilant of our children, making sure they don't get into the wrong crowd, once they get into them and start experimenting with drugs, it may be too late. I Thought I share this article with you, hope you read it.
