  1. I met someone who lives in Ruskin Walk and whose daughter got into the DVI this the year, the did have a bulge class this year though
  2. I went to see it just before they moved in and I liked the new premisses, I also think it is a good nursery and good value compared to the many nurseries I have seen. I put my daughters name down as well, but not sure when I will get a place, they seem to have a long waiting list
  3. I had both babies in St Thomas and had good experiences, my own room in the home from home birth Center for the first baby during labour and after, my husband stayed with me the night. The second time I used the pool, they were very busy at that time, as it was Christmas day, but a midwife who was on call came and she was great, had to wait a bit, but got my own room and pool for labour and birth, had to share room after birth for a few hours, while I was sent home.
  4. Hi, My daughter got this for about 9 months or maybe a year when she was 2 1/2, She got it in the swimming pool I think. The nursery started worrying about it, so I used a natural medicine called Colloidal Silver, it got worse after that, but then it got better, I think it brought everything out, but then healed quite quickly. Good Luck
  5. I had two vaginal births and didn't have any tearing, I did lots of squatting and knealing when I was pregnant and when I was giving birth and used the following cream from Neals yard http://www.nealsyardremedies.com/Mothers-Balm I put it in my breast and belly all the pregnancy and in the vagina from week 32
  6. Didn't have much luck with Mother Goose Greendale, they asked me to put the cheque in their post box, they didn't allow me in or go for a visit, and they emailed me saying that my daughter was put in the waiting list for June 2012. I felt like they just wanted my ?20, which is not a lot, but if they do this to everyone, it will be a good free revenue for doing nothing. You may find a place at my favourite nursery is you are flexible with the days. I also like Gumboots, and they have new premisses, but there is a long waiting list and you may need to wait for a year. If you haven't put it in waiting list yet, she may be 2 by the time you get a place. Good Luck!
  7. Drs or nurses don't pierce ears in this country. I heard of a Chemist near the post office in Peckam, which does ear piercing with a gun I think. I am waiting to do it when I go to Spain or South America, where is more common. I don't think you will find anyone who does it with the needle in the UK, unless you do it yourself. My mum did it to me with a needle and I still remember. You can buy a local anaesthetic in the chemist if you want to do it yourself.
  8. Re: Playout. There wasn't anything in Sunray Gardens today?????????????????????????
  9. I was reading the southwark leaflet about protecting children and it says: The law entitles only parents to use reasonable punishment. Any physical punishment is not reasonable it it involves: LOCKING THE CHILD UP Shaking the child Hitting the child on the head or face Making the child stands on one leg for long periods Causing a mark or injury to the child putting items like ginger or chilli in the mouth, eyes or other parts of the body hitting the child with an objetc So, I think what the parents are doing is child abouse, as they are locking the child outside.
  10. http://www.occ.uk.com/ Have at look at the link above, you can find all the information there and take your baby too. It is worth trying
  11. Great! thank you. Will definitely go, will have to arrange my husband to pick up my older daughter from nursery, as the timing is not that good for that.
  12. Great!, Thank you, will check it out
  13. I don't know how the allocation of places is for secondary schools, but I see lots of kids that seem to come from the Brixton area and goes to the Charter school, in fact I know someone who lives in Brixton and her child goes to the Charter school. So, I wouldn't think you really need to live that close to the school, nor necessarily in Dulwich Village
  14. Hi, SE21 Magazine keeps advertising this baby club, however I went to check it out last week and it wasn't on. Does anyone know about it? Maybe we should reactivate this again and meet on Fridays for lunch or a drink; it will be a good way to meet other mums in the area. Any thoughts?
  15. Great!, thank you will check it out
  16. Someone is asking for advice and some people is making a judgment, without even knowing the person.........!that's terrible!
  17. 22nd of July I believe. They have an open day on the 13th, but on the Nunhead premises
  18. Hi, Does anyone know of a half day (3 hours) summer camp, it can be sports, arts and craft, dancing, etc. I have a four year old girl and don't want her to go the full day, as I think she is still young, 3 hours will give me some time on my own with the baby. Thank you
  19. No way I could handle full time, I work 2 days at week and I am looking forward to go back, once I sort out nursery for the baby and after school care for the older one. The only way I could do full time is if I had a great nanny, I always feel worry to leave the kids with someone else ,unless I really trust her, at least in the nursery there are more people looking after the kids, one person may get tired and stressed with the baby and he/she can't tell you anything.
  20. Hi, I also saw the nursery and think the staff was nice, the children were all happy and relaxed; the nursery was organised and cleaned. Didn't find any complaint when I try to google it nor read anything about the washing up either.
  21. Never being there, the long drive with kids put me off, our friends took 12 hours once coming back, they got stuck in traffic.
  22. The suntent didn't work for our older daughter, we got it when she was a baby, so for the second one we got a travel cot. Argos has good ones and they are good value for money, check the reviews, we got a good one for a very good price, with a good mattress, but keep in mind is a travelcot mattress, so it will never be as comfortable as a normal mattress. I have a daughter the same age, I normally put her to sleep in the cot, unless we are out an about when her routine gets disturbed, but I just go with the flow, everyday is different with babies so young, I tried to have a routine, but don't get too stress if thinks work out different. We have been abroad twice with her already. Make sure you have a baby sleeping bag. Good luck
  23. I can see you got lots of advice already. I agree with supergolden88, not keeping comfort food in the house is the key. I don't buy biscuits, ice cream, crips, cakes, sodas, juices to keep in the house, if I ever feel like it I buy it when I am out, I normally share dessert with my husband when we go out or share the cake when we go for a coffee. You don't have to deny yourself, just don't abuse it. Yoga is also greet, I try to do at least 15min everyday, it is better to do a little everyday than do a lot on one day. Also get yourself blood test and make sure there is not a correlated problem, like a thyroid problem that can cause anxiety and get you to eat too mucj
