  2. Grandad - Clive Dunn
  3. Liverpool have actually gained the most points (8 I think) this season by scoring in stoppage time, at this stage of the season it's a real psychological blow to the teams around, be it top or bottom, part of the joy of last weeks late late winner for Utd was that I knew fans of Liverpool and Chelsea up and down the country were hands on head keeling off their chairs - I agree it's not good for the old ticker though...
  4. Wales and the Outlaws, indeed are thoughts are with you DM...
  5. I used to live on Barry Road and 'trembles' aside loved it. Like the fact that it's this long straight road, some nice big houses and trees, far grander than the pokey terraces around the Lane. It's a great bit of townscape affording a view of the common at one end and the church at the other. Don't know if it's true, but someone once told me it's exactly one mile long...

  15. Yes I did first time and it makes no reference to any Art Nouveau buildings, as your link and the V&A page quite clearly state 'Art Deco buildings', Battersea Power Station that icon of Art Nouveau architecture, mmmm...
  16. chazzy, Art Deco is not the same as Art Nouveau, don't yer know...
  17. What, like when it rains on your wedding day?..
  18. Oxford Bags (early 70's) became Birmingham Bags (Birmos) when the side pockets were added (mid 70's), it was de rigeur to complete the 'look' with a 3 star jumper and stack shoes...nice LegalEagle-ish Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > ???? 19. The American failed to see the irony of course...
  20. Good examples few and far between. London never really fully embraced Johnny Foreigner's Art Nouveau architecture (try Glasgow for Mackintosh et al), preferring instead the machine like Art Deco style. Try Whitechapel Gallery, same architect also did the Horniman Museum... Whitechapel...
  21. Mocks, the second half at OT was outstanding, the ball hardly went out of play, real end to end stuff. Will watch the Barca game tonight hoping for something similar, the Chelsea game will be a lot more cagey...
